Tru,
Three of the Cobras here have automatics and two are C-6s and one is a C-4. They are big blocks, 429,460 and 512 and I have driven two of them. I think they are great but would go with a built C-4 over those heavy C-6s, as the C-4s will take any traction you can get in one of these cars. Most of the drag racers around here that I talk to have gone to the C-4s because of the big weight difference.

me no get no drunkie
(well, I HAVE, long time ago, but it's not a pretty sight. )
I'm pretty controlled in all aspects of my life. Boring, I know.
Not to say I wouldn't be tempted.... or that I haven't been tempted.... or that .... well enough of that.....
Just a couple of large glasses of wine. It was the triple amaretto sour that started it all off. Sipped on it all night; 6 til 11!!
Still can't believe we lost at 42. My hubby was drinking tanquerray (sp?) and so was his 'partner', my scrapbook buddy....
my partner, her hubby, was drinking... hmmm. dunno. This all sounds very convoluted.... but quite up and up...
now the funny thing was watching 6 kids play twister...... our son, their daughter.... we'd LIKE that!
glad erich is playing hockey for usa.
more info? links??

Tru,
I had an automatic in my cobra and I loved it. I had it regeared to have a much taller second gear in it. It had a stall converter and a shift kit. I could shift it like a manual or and auto. If I was in the car hard I could shift when I wanted to and NOT before or if I was cruising I it would shift by itself.
When I was in the car hard I just pushed up the shifter and "click" it was in a higher gear. With a standard there is some "OFF full throttle time" during the shift. Even if you are very good at shifting most will not hold the foot feet to the floor during a shift with a standard. With an automatic no problem.
Yep I did like it. Of coarse it cost a ton to have it built to do that. But not really comapared to what everything else cost. I think I had about $3,500.00 in the trans. I couls run second gear up to 120mph and it would still pull hard going into third.
I will also add that I do not think I would do it again. Can't really say why, though.

Kristen, I hit the sack at about 9. Just need to sleep ( as best I can ) and get to work in the morning.
When the team site is constructed, I'll send you a link.
Steve, thanks for the input. I think they run between $1200 to $4000. I think the other members of the family would like an automatic.
Well, got to work to pay for gas to drive the cobra ( not to mention parts ).
Talk to ya.

Geez Krtisten,
Aren't you up yet? You complain about us old men not staying up all night and then you sleep half the day. Remember, there are time differences between places and I have been on here at 6 to 8 Pm Pacific time and not found anyone at all except a ton of guests. Put a loud alarm on your computer so I can wake you up when I get up.

It's just 7:30 in the morning. Not THAT late! I sleep in just a little in the summer; I'm up pretty early during the school year. Enjoying the next 3 weeks as much as I can!
Brent. glad to see YOU were up. oh and flip, too. I went off to read a magazine; popular photography.
I have said I would be the last to get a digital camera. (yeah, I do have the little point and shoot- bought it the day after I bought the cobra ) but, anyway, I said I'd buy the last roll of print film Kodak ever made.... haha. Anyway, all that's in the magazines these days are the digital SLR's. Guess I'll go take a look.... not really excited tho', until you can look at a digital print and not be able to tell if it is digital or film. Must say, they are getting there. Canon.... of course. (Have done the Nikon thing, too)
what to do today. Go to the mall. Return all the clothes and junk bought before boys went to camp. return other junk to target. Hubby has said he'd keep the kids.... I think we had 6 come and go all weekend. Maybe 7+ at times. Told them all to stay home today! The girls need to do some serious tidying- the kitchen play area, the Barbie area, the dress-up area, the BRATZ area (ugly dolls), towels, bathing suits, stuff stuff stuff. #2 son off on trip with friend til tomorrow. #1 son taking advantage of sleeping in. This high school thing will be interesting! I'm glad, and looking forward to it.
Any of ya'll have a 'good' digital camera out there??
hmmm. interesting thread starter.....
Hey, Ron. call me at 6 am, so I can get outside and clean up the cobra before it's too hot!!!
Kristen

Kristen,
If I had your number I would be happy to call you at 3 AM our time. That would be 6 your time unless I am off on time zones. It must cool down there at night at least. I looked at my thermometer at 3:20 this morning and it is still on 80 and starting to creep up. But wait until the sun gets up. Even the moon is avoinding here it is so hot.

FW: Are women the smarter gender?
There was a man who had worked hard all of his life, had saved a substantial sum of money, and was a real miser when it came to his finances. Just before he died, he said to his wife, "When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the afterlife with me."
And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.
Well, he died. He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and her best friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!" She had a box with her; she came over with the box and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away.
So her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband."
The loyal wife replied, "Listen, I'm a Christian; I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him."
"You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!!!!?"
"I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend it."

Steve,
Thanks for the time check. You are correct, CST is two hours ahead of us. I will call her at 2 AM our time while I am up taking medicine. That should give her time to wash the Cobra as I can do mine with the Wet Paint in just abut 20/30 minutes if I really stay at it and that takes longer than wiping it off with a wet towell. Of course she willneed time to get the white letters on the tires just right.

Bernie,
That reminds me of when I was in Korea. I won a good bit of money betting on Dodger baseball games as I worked in the signal corps and had rigged a network through Japan that I could listen to the live broadcast on. About three hours later the Armed Forces Network would broadcast it. Once the Dodgers won a game with a two out 3 run home run in the bottom of the 9th and I bet a guy $250 dollars they would win when the 2nd out was made. Boy, he never could understand how I could always win the bets.

Hey Bernie
So you can tell the future huh. HMMM seems like we called that witchcraft in the Sates at one time and burned people alive at the stake.
Good thing for you we settled down a bit here.
Now it would be really helpfull to us all if we could find that Jacka$$ Bin Ladden. Now that would be telling the future.
So Bernie you should call Kristen at just about bedtime for you and it would be time for her to get up anyway. She is way too busy to sleep late.
Kriten, Someone has to tease you.

My boss has a Digital Rebel (Canon) and he took the memory card to Costco to have prints made. I doubt 99% of the people could tell if they were film or digital. The Rebel XT is an 8 megapixel or if you have the money, the D20 is one of the best Prosumer models out. The Nikon D70 is a joy too from what I hear if you don't want to do large prints. (Unless they changed to 8 megapixel too.)
Kristen, my wife wanted to know what adhesive you use for scrapbooking?
Ron, you could now bet they will lose the game and win most all the time. Of course they were probably still in Brooklyn then.

Brent,
No, they were in Los Angles then. But betting on a sure thing is more fun for me than on something I am not sure of. Reno never got rich off of me when I was there. I take what ever amount I figure I can afford to lose and if I come home with any I figure I came out ahead. I was just never much of a gambler. Like to wander the casinos and watch the big rollers though.

I have only gambled once. Our office had a free dinner from the local radio station and I spent what I would have normally spent on a decent prime rib dinner.
Very creative by the way.
