my gawd, Fred! what a picture! gross!!

David and tru and Gerry left at 6 am..... stopped to get coffee and donuts... then down to the farm....
their guide, Redneck Bubba (my nephew, 21 yo) is going to take them all on a pig hunt. Today is the 'show hunt'.

too gross to describe here...

the rest of the week will be traditional hunting.

and we're going to go visit Jay's shop next week, and see all his new toys from BJ and RS.

yesterday was a beautiful day, today started out cloudy and misty. there are some places with light rain still on the ground.

It'll probably get colder though. They could not believe how nice the temp was last night. When we got in the car to go to dinner, it read 59*.

It was like 6* in Michigan.

seeya! just woke up, need to make some coffee, and get busy with things. Don't have a clue when the pigstickers (gross gross gross) are coming back.

Looking at those tusks tells you why we have so many old people around here that are very fast tree climbers. Fortunately I live far enough away from where they roam that I don't ever see any unless I am up in those areas. Tru should be sporting and use a bow and arrow to hunt them.

Yea, well how would you like to be the guy in front if the others let go of that pissed off hog? I haven't heard of them hunting them here. Just trying to protect themselves from them while back in the wilderness. I suppose they are on the endangered species list. Everything but the people in this state are. It is even illegal to kill a rattle snake here. If you are out hiking and find one, and there are many, you are supposed to evade it. Right. The first you see of them is when they strike out of the rocks they are hiding in. My next campaign is to get star thistle put on the endangered list.

oh Fred!! I wish i hadn't looked!!!!
gawd, that could be David, Dave and Gerry!! grossssssss!!! that is exactly what is 'pig sticking' and i was being too lady like to write it all out..... ewwwwwwww!!!!!!! disgusting!!!

Ron, in Texas, you can kill anything. snakes, pigs, armadillos, even intruder!!!

gotta go!!!
gross gross gross....

ps... david shot a rattlesnake down in Mason, our ranch thing near Austin, and we put it in a ziploc bag and all the kids took it to their classes to show it off!! Texas is the last wild frontier....

(he almost stepped on it, walking to the cabin. there were about 15 of us, and man the kids were shrieking!! it was dark at night, and he heard the rattle... his brother put a flashlight on it, and blam!! it shook and squirmed for 15 minutes. We held it by its tail and it was just writhing. the head was long gone... but the kids were freaking out cuz it 'might still bite me' yeah, with no head... but it did look bizarre, still writhing around, dead of course, but the nerves and muscles were still jumping.... ewwww gross again!! got that rattle somewhere.....

Ron,
You have caught on to a little Texas fun.
Take a look at that photo again. Both of the other guys are laughing and one has already let go.
That is why the camera is there ready to go.

Adds a little excitement to the morning hunt.

I have 4 nephews and 1 niece.

2 of the nephews have already tried sky diving.

The niece turns 19 yrs. today. She wants to go sky diving as her birthday present today.

My sister has been really hoping the weather forecast of rain and clouds would be correct.

Well,it a perfectly clear with a light wind now.

She told me she will be on the ground with a video camara -praying.

My niece does have nerve.

Fred,

The tandem skydiving today is way safer for first timers than skydiving was when I started (38 years ago) when a solo static line jump was the only option. She will love it.

They do a lot of pig hunting on most of the islands here. They use dogs
and the guy with the knife sneaks? up from behind and reaches underneath to stick the pig in the neck. The boars have some serious tusks too.
I don't think you will ever see me trying that!

Flip,

Nice to see that you are still kicking around. I have been looking at Ernie's Scooter. Very nice.

Fred,

It is so cold here today that if your niece did jump out of a plane she would fall slowly. Mostly overcast too.

Well, I can tell you that there are a lot of boars ( pigs ) in Texas.

Dang. It rained this afternoon so we call it a day. We got one small one.

I think it was like 60 today.

Okay, Fred knows what we did today.

Yes, we went out with big knives. Yes we took guns.

I fell into a stream and got hit on the head. Gerry stabbed an 80 pounder.

Well, I am on vacation.

Were you skinny dipping and/or going for a little catfish wrestlin' ?
Was this before or after you got hit on the head ?

I hope you let Kristen join in fun by at least letting her dress out the boar.

Aloha Ron,

I spent this last week working a project in Kalaupapa, Molokai. They only
have dial up there so I leave my laptop at home. They have wild pigs
there but the axis deer are getting a little too thick so the rangers and
residents thin them out as needed. The bucks have decent antlers and fangs, which are a bit different. Talk about a trip back in tme!

Flip,

Nice to hear from you again. I had been wondering what you were up to. I think our group is falling apart at times. Tru goes all the way to Texas to fall into a stream and get hit in the head. Ernie rides his scooter all the time now that he can go so far on a tank of gas. Thirty two trips around the island instead of the usual one in the Cobra. Kristen is helping with the pig hunt. Don't know if she dressed out the pig or not. Next thing we will hear is she is hunting with them.

Ron
