Wow Fred,

That is an impressive photo. Way to cold for me to enjoy being there. But it is really something. What was the temperature anyway?

This really should be in the Joke thread but I wanted some of you to see it.

This from a five year old kid....

A mother took her five-year-old son with her to the bank on a busy lunchtime.

They got behind a very fat woman wearing a business suit complete with pager.

As they waited patiently, the little boy said loudly, "Gee, she's fat!"

The mother bent down and whispered in the little boys ear to be quiet.

A couple of minutes passed by and the little boy spread his hands as far as they would go and announced; "I'll bet her butt is this wide!"

The fat woman turns around and glares at the little boy.

The mother gave him a good telling off, and told him to be quiet.

After a brief lull, the large woman reached the front of the line

Just then her pager begin to emit a beep, beep, beep.

The little boy yells out, "Run for your life, she's backing up!!"

Being the middle of the summer,I think it would average out right at ZERO.
I had guys whose main job was to take baseball bats and brooms and remove the ice off the superstructure ship.It could ruin your whole day if the ship got top heavy with ice and rolled.

Fred,

No wonder you like Texas so much with all of that HOT weather. I have seen on TV where they showed people with sledge hammers breaking the ice off some of the ships in the Arctic to keep them from getting top heavy and rolling. Seems they could figure out a way to run steam pipes up the super structure to keep the ice from getting to thick.

Looks like my walkway to the front door this morning. Solid ice about 1/4 inch thick. The newspaper was on the front lawn. I do not blame the newspaper carrier for just throwing it at the front door.

I'm amazed that there is no woofing on the site from Bears or Colts fanatics.

Red face

Wind chills of -30 ºF starting Monday!

Hey Kristen, have you cleaned out the shower yet? Get ready for another visitor! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr its cold! Only 19 ºF outside now, but at least the Mt Shasta Goddess is amongst the missing.

Tomorrow I'm going to get ready for the football party. A lot of work! Its a good thing the Chinese place delivers! Football and Chinese food. Almost as good as Texas BBQ.

Ron & Tru and ???

Quite a few pages ago, we were discussing HDTV's. The new issue of Consumer Reports (March 2007) has a big section on all types with ratings on 100 different TV's.

After reading the articles, I went out and bought myself a new flat panel TV.

Fred,

That is cold there. We may all have to move in with Kristen to stay warm for the next month. Or make our trip to Hawaii to stay at Ernie's and he will provide all the food and drink you want. But you must bring a PINK ribbon if you want to ride his scooter.

I hate the cold!! I could never live 'up there'.... (wherever up there is!!!- )

i'm plenty cold down here. we had a nice lunch yesterday- about 6 cars, and a lot of people. I meant to take a picture of the 'wuss club' but didn't do it.

I got chewed for driving a non Ford to the meet.
It wasn't a terribly cold day- it was 39* when Trey and I left; 41* when we came home. Guess we could have driven the cobra, but the meet was completely opposite side of town than us. Highway driving, fast and cold! brrr. Took the Yukon XL.

He had a lot of cars there! He's got a '57 fairlane, "Inca Gold" looks really nice. Automatic hard top/convertible top that is a work of art and quite the show watching the mechanisms all work raising the top.
Didn't get a shot of the Galaxie 500. sorry. up on a lift, and just not a good angle on it. I'll post a few pics later.

making a zillion cookies this morning for a reception at 11:30. Guess i better get busy.

Going to a neighbors' house to watch the boring game this evening. the party should be fun, anyway.

seeya!
K

oh yes. ps. we stopped by the Ford dealership where I've bought the 500, and checked on it. coming along. Supposedly it is 'built'. It gets shipped on an enclosed trailer, so we don't know where it is. He said he can track regular transports, but doesn't know where 'mine' is.

Kristen,

You big Wuss. Hal Copple drove his cobra all the way to Florida to watch the Rolex and it was 17 degrees where he lives. See his write up on the all Cobra forum if you haven't read it. Always read anything he posts as he is a talented writer and can make going to the store for a loaf of bread exciting.
Oh, and yes the new Mustang is coming along nicely. They should be delivering it to ME in another three days. If they would pay those drivers more, they wouldn't be so easy to bribe.

Oh, look...they are breaking the ice up on the lake.

WE MADE IT!!!!

Dang, my freezers are well stocked.

I have Boar, Elk, deer and a very small amount of chicken and cow ( No Dave, none of yours ).

Somewhere in here I'll get some pics and the complete tale for you all.

Kristen was right, it was a vacation, but more over, it was an adventure and Gerry and I enjoyed it very much. Jay, "I want the green one."

He and I got it at noon ( or there abouts ) yesterday. I ache all over but will be fine in a couple of days.

Fred, great news on your son. Kristen - . Ron, there are boars in Texas, but you need a cannon to knock them over. Warren - is it cold enough for you, -15?

Tru,

I am glad the trip was so great. It must have been a lot of fun getting out and hunting every day and then getting to see all of Jay's cars. Can you believe that after that picture Fred posted of the ice and ship he is crying about how cold it is there in Texas. He should be wearing a short sleeve shirt.

Really enjoyed getting to meet you & Gerry in person (I don't care what Kristen says about you, you're alright ).
You must have one heck of a freezer for all that meat you hauled back. How many pounds did it come to ?

Fred. total weight shot by me is between 550 and 600 pounds. Processed worked out to be about 250 pounds and a trophy head and cape.

We have two freezers. One is chest and the other is stand-up.

Ron, it was freezing on the day I shot the big boar, so on the order of cold in Texas, it was getting close to Michigan weather. There was ice on ponds and snow flying.

Yeah, I understand Kristen might be saying things, but it's probably all true and I'll just have to live with it.

I am going to try posting the hunt thread, hope it turns out okay.

Tru,

Well at least with the cold weather you didn't have to worry about the meat spoiling before you could get it back home. You should have taken them to Kristen's and hung them in the front yard to prepare.

Okay, I wrote a short version of the hunt. Venture over and read about it and post what you think.

Tru,

Great story and the pictures are really great. Sorry, but I did laugh about you falling into the water. That was some good shooting, and yes, those big ones are hard to bring down. There are always guys over at the shooting range it seems looking for a hand gun to carry while fishing back up in the mountains in the remote canyons because of the wild boars attacking them. I wouldn't want to have to depend on my 9mm. I had rather have a 45 or a 44 magnum, but the 9mm would have to do for now. Besides it is hard to run and shoot back over your shoulder I don't care how well Roy Rogers and Gene Autry did it.

Strange weather continues,

Yesterday morning it was 31 degrees and stayed cold until around 10 o'clock. Then all of a sudden it started warming up and the high was 78 degrees and no wind. First time in a long time I have been outside with my shirt sleeves rolled up. Forecast is for rain later this week but they will most likely be wrong as usual. I have flowers blooming and weds growing like it is Spring.
