We are doing onions, two varieties; Corn; tomatos, two varieties; pickles; peppers and squash,
Helped my neighbor take down his garden, that took half a day.
Cutting wood today, chain saw pooped out on me and I am too tired to start the other one.
What a day. I am going to have to go back to work just so I can get a rest.

Just tomatoes (3 different kinds) and cukes in my yard. I tried corn a couple of years ago. Too much trouble for little yield, and a local farm stand sells corn at 10 AM that is picked that morning.
Got most of my flowers planted, but it's been raining for the last 3 or 4 days.

Just read a story in the local paper about a new train line (Greeenbush) that will start in a few months. The line is about 17 miles long, just south of Boston.
They installed 39 "turtle tunnels" underneath the tracks at various locations to let the turtles roam freely ... I guess its hard for a turtle to scale a 6" tall rail.
Cost for the turtle tunnels was $300,000.00
The was no mention of anything spent on frogs.

I do the tomatoes because they taste soooooo much better than the crap in the supermarket. But home grown corn and green peppers are not worth the effort IMHO.
Having a garden is also good exercise.

What are you trying to do. Turn this into a farm and garden thread? Just because all I can raise is burr clover and star thistle, I have to buy my stuff from the store except when Jack's garden comes in and the garden vegetables are much nicer than the canned ones.

You have an unfair advantage. You have water in the Summer. Here we never get rain and now they are saying that with all the new houses and businesses going in we won't have enough water for this Summer. I don't see any businesses going in out here and very few new houses, and if that is the case why don't they stop issuing permits until they can get the water situation straightened out. I guess we will have rolling water outages like the rolling electric brown outs. Stupid local politicians.

Mike,
If my health will hold out and nothing else happens I really plan to make it next year. I wanted to go this year and had planned to then it seemed that everything went wrong for about 6 months.
Warren,
I am trying to talk him into bringing the Cobra to the Reno Bash next year. Having the farms to run he may not be able to make it but I will keep bugging him. He met another guy that has a blue one with a 427 that just lives about 45 miles from him.

Tru
Only 1 nap today? I had three naps .... woke up at 5:30 ... one nap from 7 to 8 AM, one from 11 to noon and another from 2 to 3 PM. Spent about six hours yesterday on the yard doing weeding, planting flowers, veggies and reseeding a section of lawn that normally does a great job of growing crab grass ... a one foot wide section by the road and about 70 feet long. I could not believe all the weeds I pulled out of my small flower and veggie beds ... almost 3 of those big recycle paper bags.

Warren,
You need to start driving again. All that work is going to ruin your reputation.

Warren, are you allowed to "throw out" your weeds or so you have to decompose them?

Where I live, we have 3 different trucks that come by on trash day:
Normal rubbish truck
Recycle truck (paper, plastic, cans)
Yard waste
All this included in my taxes. If I have any really big stuff (sofa, washing machine, etc) I just call a couple of days in advance of putting it out on the street and they send out a truck for that stuff.
Problem with compost is that most weed seeds do not decompose, so I always throw them out - never add to compost bin (my neighbors).
Time to put my A/C in the window today. Its supposed to be somewhere between 91 and 95 °F tomorrow.

another busy day.
awards day for 4th grader, picnic for 1st grader. last exam for soph. 8th grader sick/exempt.
rolled out the cobra, lowered the lift, dusted off Gus, and put Pepe back in. Drove Gus all around, to school, etc. Came out of awards and a sprinkling dusted him. Started to sprinkle more, so put the top up. Like a sauna!!! hot, muggy, wet.....
anyway, drove to Sonic and the sun came out. Put the top back down.
came home and left Gus out, to take a pic of all 3 in the driveway. Took about a 30 minute nap, and when i woke up the sky was looking pretty scary.......
Ran outside and David is watching the sky. Storm is a 'comin'!!! hurry hurry!!!
Raise the lift with Pepe, oh it takes too long! Move those heavy ramps ugh, Drive Gus in real quick, and lower the garage door.... made it just in time!! 10 minute turn around maybe. whew!!!!
right now.... pouring down rain, great we need it- so many of the local storms Dallas and area has had has for some reason passed us or missed us. Every thing is very dry, but not like the last few years, of course. So we have a steady rain and that's good. 15 new crepe myrtles planted, couple pallets of grass. David is watering them everyday. This will save water for today, tomorrow and maybe even Saturday. yea!!
He mowed the parkway, and started with the small mower around the shrubs, small grass sections but didn't get done. oh well! This yard takes two days to do- if the weather cooperates! now it'll be all wet and will grow and not be able to be mowed for a while but that's ok; we'll take the rain!
He never got out the big mower, edger, or trimmer. oops!
fixing spaghetti for dinner. With 'steer' we 'fed out'.
for all you bubba's that hunt your own meat.
gotta go!
K
