Well our latest forecast says possible light showers later in the week. You would not believe the dust here after just a week of sun. Guess I will have tio make an offering to the little men in the Mountain to keep it raining for Warren.

Dust storms ...
rain for 100 days ....
20 foot snow banks ...
earthquakes ...
wild fires ...
Makes me want to move to Kalifornia ... NOT
You can keep the rain and dust, or send it to Tru or Kristen.
Looks like two days of sunshine starting tomorrow.
This is another prayer to the Godess of Mt Shasta

Warren,
The snow banks were actually 35 feet deep. We depend on the melting snow to keep the lake up during the Summer. They have places the snow has gotten way deeper than that. Earthquakes are only a minor nuisance up here, as we hardly ever have one above a 3 and very few of those. Forrest Fires are our big problem and because of all the rain they are expecting a really bad fire season. Nothing like not being able to see the sun for days because of thick smoke. Your two days of sunshine hasbeen cancelled.

Godess of Mt Shasta
Oh Godess of Mt Shasta ... thank you for hearing my prayers.
The cable TV guy just came (on time!!!!!) and fixed the problem. He started talking about my Cobra - he has seen me blasting thru town.
He had to replace a bunch of wires both inside and outside and did not charge me anything (normal is $$ for inside wiring). Guess I'll thank the Cobra Godess for that one.
As he was leaving, the rain stopped and then the sky started getting lighter.
Thank You Mt Shasta Goddess
Your Humble servant ...

You should try driving in Hawaii - that stuff happens several times a day.
You name it we get it. When you relalize that a lot of the people on the
road are new to "civilization" - never had a car - now do and are driving
with their own customs - and you get a never ending array of driving
experiences. Defensive, anticipative driving is the key here for survival.
At least it doesn't snow here - that would make a whole new scenario I
choose not to imagine!

Tru,
Come try driving in Redding. And it is nothing compared to the cities, Los Angles, San Francisco and etc. Only safe way to drive here is like the rest of the idiots. Cut across 3 lanes with no signals, run traffic lights because they are in a hurry to get to the next one. I am think Hummer with re-enforced steel bars all around it.
Edit: Just saw this on my home page and thought it fit the topic.

Mt Shasta Godess
Oh hail to the mighty Mt Shasta Godess. This morning I awoke and saw an orange orb in the sky , but I'm not sure what it was.
But it kept the Kalifornia liquid away sooooooo.......
I went for a ride ....
WOOOOO HOOOOOO
Got thumbs up from a local cop, had a nice time following a high speed Porsche thru the local reservation without even breaking 100 .... well, only once.
Had to call the cable guy to come out and fix the problem he fixed yesterday
Paid all the monthly bills UGHHHHHHH
Put down some mulch on the flowers out on the front yard. I'm amazed that the flowers did not drown over the last few days. Thank the Mt Shasta goddess again for keeping my sump pump working ... its been pumping about 25gallons, and then shuts off for about 15 seconds .... and its time to pump again

Warren,
I am actually glad that your rain has finally stopped. I have watched the news and pictures of the flooding and I know what a mess it is. We had a lot of it in some areas this Winter and fortunately I live high enough up that the only thing I have to worry about is it raining so hard for so long the water can't run down the slope into my neighbors yard which is a regular swamp. Now it is in the low 100s and humid on top of that so it is to hot to drive in the day. In fact our low last night was 70 and it is humid already here at 4:15 AM.

Thanks Ron
I'll always take my house cuz its only 4 houses away from the Atlantic Ocean. Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than the rest of the area.
Same situation as your lot. All the water flows thru the yard and into my neighbors yard. He built a dry creek bed and a BIG dry well to help in the flooding that always occurs in his back yard.
Looks like I'll get another ride in this PM. Weather sunny and in the 70's. Think I'll go lookin for another Porsche

Talk to Brent Dolphin. He is in the process of restoring a Porsche.
Tru,
I just watched the forecast and they are saying thunderstorms here Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Just what we need as this heat and humidity has sucked all of the moisture out of the brush and they already have fire crews and planes patroling. Hope you get to go to your car show. They have a little get together, not a show, at the Out Back Steak House next month and on each month after that for the Summer. They start at 6 PM so the heat and traffic are mostly gone, and for the most part are enjoyable. No prizes or anything so people are friendly as they aren't fighting to get votes for their cars. I enjoy those more than the regular shows.

Well, they say it has stopped raining until Sat afternoon, but I'll have to trailer the car onto pavement.
Wish me luck.

Tru,
Good luck and have a great time. Would you believe it is raining here now. It got so humid about an hour ago it was terrible and then started raining, but not real hard. Yesterday it was 101 and humid and now it is 65 and very humid. I hate radical over night weather changes.

Well yesterday's Redding paper had a letter to the editor about Johannessens obnoxiously loud cars. I can only guess they are referring to his Cobra as he has so many. He was the Senator that fought for the replicas here until term limits kicked him out of office. Now if they would just complain about all that obnoxiously loud music that is going all the time from every person around and you can hear it for 6 blocks. People call the cops and are told that is a law they won't enforce. For crying out loud, the law says 50 feet from your house and how hard is it for some badge polisher to stop by and ask them to turn it down. We have several people around here who have complained because they are in bad health and I took 20 minutes once to find where it was coming from it was so loud and the house was almost 1/4th mile from mine. Time to write to the editor I guess.

Thunder and rain this morning and it rained most of the day yesterday but not the downpour type we had three months of. In fact it is supposed to be rain and showers for the nest three days and I have to admit I am enjoying this cool weather and the dust being settled. After all that rain we had I thought I wouldn't want any more for a long time, but this is nice. Also it is getting a lot of dust and pollen out of the air. But once it ends I am afraid we are headed straight for the 115 temperatures.
