Tru
I was beamed down a long time ago.

My ancestors came from England (mother's side) and Austria (fathers side). I have tons of info on my mothers side (at least a dozen generations), but only 2 generations on my father's side here in the USA. I am trying to find info on my great-grandfather who was born in Auch, Austria.

Ron - too clean a desktop. I have so many programs on my computer, when you select Start-Programs, the box that open up goes clear off the right side of the monitor.

OK, its 3 PM and I'm finished with most of my chores. Yawn! Its 83°F outside. The next few days are supposed to be sunny but temps well above 90°F. Guess we are going to have a little Indian summer.

Time to put out the rubbish and go for a ride.

Warren,

They sell 42" monitors now. And what about using the Task Bar long the bottom. You would be hunting as long among all of those icons as it would take you to load the program. I have always kept my desktop clean and just three or four major shortcuts on it so I can quickly get to explorer and a couple of other places.

OK Ron, cover your eyes and do not look at this post.

Fred - I found a nice place for Frenchy this afternoon while she visits for the Turtle fights!

I could not help myself ... I had to stop and take this picture.

Edited because I deleted many pics from my gallery.

OK Ron, you can look at this post. I have my task bar on auto hide. Also, all the tiny icons that build on the task bar are always hidden ... I only have about 4 that show. My 19" monitor is big enough. I'd have to sit about 7 feet away with a 42" monitor!

Edit - the info I first posted was incorrect - got the wrong info from someone.

I stopped on my way home to watch a local news truck and announcer do a "on the spot news story". A 10 year old kid climbed a tree about 1/4 mile from my house and somehow touched the power line ... 13,800 volts. He fell 20 feet and got stuck in a crook of the tree and was not breathing. A neighbor was told what had just happened by some other kids, and the guy climbed up the tree and got his head out of the branches and started CPR while holding him in the tree. The kid started breathing on his own before the EMT's and local fire truck got there within 5 minutes.

The kid got a burned finger, and he is in good condition at the hospital.

Boy, was that kid lucky that they had someone there that knew what to do.

Warren,

Nice pictures as usual. The TRUCK really looks great. I don't think of all the signs I have seen here that I have ever seen a Turtle Crossing Sign. They must take to long to paint.

Ron - you were expressly told not to look at that post

I drove into an industrial park just to see what was there. To my surprise, there was a BIG condo development at the end of the park called Turtle Crossing. Very nice looking condos, but I'd hate coming home drunk ... would probably be driving around in circles ... they all look alike

Yes, that kid was very lucky. The fire truck that responded is only 1/4 mile away from the tree. The captain said the quick actions of the guy that climbed the tree saved his life.

What surprised me is that the power line on the telephone poles has 13,800 volts. WOW. I never knew that .... or it was a misprint in the local paper.

Supposed to be in the mid 90's today and tomorrow. But the mid 70 degree weather is right behind the heat. I'm glad I do not take the A/C out of my bedroom window yet. It may get turned on over the next couple of days.

Time for some breakfast.

Warren,

That does seem to be a lot of voltage for a residential area but they step the voltage up to compensate for loss and that is why you see so many transformers mounted on poles is to bring it back down to the 110/120 level for homes. I believe it leaves our small sub station about 3/4ths of a mile from here at around 30,000 volts. It leaves the big one at the dam at well over 100,000 volts.
Never tell someone to not look at anything. That is like the Don't Touch or Wet Paint signs.
Darn, I don't pay much attention to post count and never realized I was close to that level. Throw out all the ones that don't help anyone and it would be closer to 2,000.

Ron

Only if every member of the club will send me $1 dollar. Darn, that would be the most money I have had for years.

trularin,

When I go to the forum link as I scroll down to find the lounge there is a
top 10 list in between that has the names of the top 10 posters with their
post counts. Ernie is at 10,460+ and moving right along.

Yep - I finally broke down and turned on the A/C. It got up to the low 90's this afternoon.

Flip, I didn't know Ernie had so many, I see what your talking about. Thanks.

Warren, Do you central air, or are you running refits ( window units ).

Ron, we may send you a dollar, but most of the money will be spent getting it to you.

.39 for a money order ( the post office has stated you should not send cash through the mail )
.42 for postage.

SO, you are getting less than $.20 for that dollar investment.

I have one window A/C in the bedroom. I also have a couple of window fans downstairs. Living close to the ocean does have some advantages. I have oil fired hot water heat, so adding central air would be expensive.

Supposed to be in the mid 90's today and then back to the 60/70 degree range on Thursday. Then we get some much needed rain over the weekend. Guess I'll have to double up on my rides for Thursday and Friday. Glad to see you out and about for a few rides. Really keeps the blood pumping.

Tru,

Your post office must work for a different Govt. A money order here is 85¢ no matter what amount it is for. So to cover all the expense maybe everyone should send me $3 dollars.

Ron
