That is intersting, I used to get past security because I have bunches of test gear...way back in the day ( pre 9-11 ).

You are right, I have avoided flying. I have not been to SF in years. Even my son took a train because of all this searching going on.

So, the temp has dropped and fall is in FULL SWING!!!

:D :D :D

:)

We had our first real rain last night and it has settled the dust. It was supposed to rain today but now they have changed the forecast to partly cloudy. We need a lot of rain here for sure.

Ron :)

trularin 10-10-2007 06:12 AM

I am looking at temps in the 30s tonight.

Chilly!!!

:D :D

Ron61 10-10-2007 06:28 AM

:)

So far our low has been 45 degrees with it getting into the low to mid 80s in the afternoons. And we are starting to have more of the cool wind now. I think that Summer is definitely gone.

Ron :)

trularin 10-10-2007 07:00 AM

I did the Cobra startup and the idle is very high at first with the choke on. In the cold, it seems like the engine will fly apart.

What do you think I should set it down to Ron?

:D :D

Ron61 10-10-2007 07:06 AM

:)

Tru,

Since your weather is a lot colder than ours and I don't know what cam and all you have, I would try setting it down to where it just runs ok with the choke on. When I had mine it idled at 1100 RPM, but it had a radical cam and all with no choke. Do you have a heat type choke or electric?

Ron :)

trularin 10-10-2007 10:26 AM

It's electric. It have the cold idle at 3000, but I am thinking of knocking it down to 2000. It idles at 1100 when warm.

:D :D

Ron61 10-10-2007 11:12 AM

Two thousand sounds ok and you might even go a little lower if it will idle well while cold. It gets cold here, but very few times does it get down into the low teens. And with mine in the garage and no choke, I just ran it at about 2000 until it warmed up enough to idle on its own. In fact the papers on the engine said to not run it above 2000 until the oil and water had came up to temp. If you want I would be happy to store yours for the Winter and drive it on any good days we may have. :D

Ron

trularin 10-10-2007 01:11 PM

I'm sure you would. :D :D :D

Ron61 10-10-2007 01:35 PM

:p

Well I wouldn't have it out today. It has started to sprinkle again. We need rain, not this sprinkle for 10minutes and then sun comes out for 30 minutes. But I could take it out on nice days and drive it and that way you wouldn't have to worry ( insert laughter here ) about it all Winter. :D

Ron :p

OK
I'm back for now. But just for a few days, then I'm off to Martha's Vineyard for a few weeks of vacation.

Nope. No way. My next to last flight was a plane out of Logan on 9/10/2001 when I was still working. One day before the planes were hijacked. Chilling thoughts, huh???? My last flight was a few days later when the company I worked for got a plane with two armed Texas Rangers to fly all the employees back from a trade show in Houston to the Boston area. I retired about 15 months later.

Last year, one of my nephews was on a flight between the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. As they were coming in for a landing at about 1000 ft, the door fell off the plane! Talk about brown underwear!

Since then I've gone to Canada, Colorado and Florida twice, but the vehicle never got off the ground.  (40 ft RV)

Warren,

Have a great time anyway. So far as traveling on vacation I had rather drive and that way you can stop and spend whatever amount of time you want at any place that interests you. I never did like the guided tour travel set up.

Ron :)

trularin 10-11-2007 05:25 AM

Does Martha know you are in her vinyard??

:D :D

Yes, especially when I eat her grapes without using my hands.

Hmmm.... a flying pig?

I'm not sure about this one.

The weather looks nice and fall type, rain and chilly.
