Well, yesterday I finally got back to working on the patio that I started last fall. It is now almost finished. I need 2 bags of the small landscape rocks to fill in around the sides and a few bags of sand to fill the cracks between the pavers. I also need 5-6 bags of sand to level the pavers for the walkway, and then I will be able to declare it done.

Warren,
Funny picture. You have way too much time on your hands and a Photoshop program.
Joe,
Post some pics of the deck.

No Photoshop for me. Picture was part of an e-mail joke I got.
As far as too much time, I hope so, now that I'm retired.
Lousy day today. Damp and cold. Went food shopping, and the store had tonic on sale ... $2.25 for 12 cans. Normal price is over $4. But they had a limit of 5, so after unloading my groceries in the trunk, it was back inside for some more, etc, etc. Got 20 cases. May go back and get some more.
Sunday, I picked up 5 flats of impatiens. They usually are about $18 to $23 a flat, but they were on sale at $8 a flat.
I do not know about your area, but some of the sale prices around here are fantastic. I just saw a condo listed for $250,000. Other units in the condo complex identical to that one sold for $400,000 a year ago.

Will do later. I am in Southern California through Thursday, but when I get back, I'll take some. I will see how it goes this weekend, if I don't have to work, then I will finish it up and then take the pictures.

Joe,
What part of Southern Calif. are you in? I hope you have a good trip. Just pretend that you are illegal and you will have it made.

Darn, yesterday I was printing out some pictures and my trusty H.P.7960 suddenly sounded like it was power shifting from 4th to reverse. Red lights came on telling me the ink carriage was stuck. I opened it up and everything was normal and it moved easily. So after the wait period I printed a test sheet and it came out all screwed up. I removed the printer from the computer, uninstalled it and then reinstalled everything and the same thing. So it wasn't a bad driver. I finally bought a new H.P. Photo smart C7280 All In One and so far it is great. It uses the new type ink and the pictures and copies are sharper and the ink is supposed to last a lot longer. I was looking in the book where I keep my records for this stuff and the old one was 4 years old and had printed a ton of pictures and papers. But what surprised me was that when I bought it 4 years ago, I gave almost as much for it as the new one cost.
Anyway I took the old one apart to get it ready for the garbage and I never could find a stripped gear or anything else that looked out of place except a big gooey puddle of ink down on the bottom below where the carriage went to rest at the far right hand side.

Ron,
The ink will only leak if the cartrige is bad. I had an old HP do the same thing. I worked on it for about a week or two and then decided it looked very nice in the trash.
I have another HP photosmart all in one now and it works great. Actually I have two one has all the bells and whistles and the other has fewer options.

Everyone should go and check out the world wide telescope. It says it takes an hour to download the software but it took me about two minutes on Broadband. Damn this is some of the best pictures from space I have seen in my lifetime!
Check it out.

Steve,
Since the ink was puddled and fresh I have a feeling that the cartridge was bad, but when I took it out it showed no ink anywhere on it and the other two were ok. And I have used that one before as I had three cartridges and you changed the 56 for a 59 when you were printing photos. Anyway I had expected to find at least one of the plastic gears with teeth worn or broken off but they all looked great. I have had other printers do much the same but could always find a reason. This was just strange and sounded as if you were grinding gears in a transmission and the paper would come out as if it had been pulled through sideways instead of straight. And I had already printed about 6 pictures before this happened, so something just gave up. As I said, it was an older printer and has had a ton of printing done with it. I really like the new all in one and the colors are better with the newer type ink.

Most of the printers are so cheap today, they are like toasters. If there is something wrong, throw it away and get a new one. But if you have a lot of ink cartridges, get a new printer that uses your stock of expensive cartridges.
So far the free CVS refills are working OK, with no complaints. Yea!
I have two HP's ... a 5510 all-in-one and a photosmart 7150. Both are nice printers.

Check the price of the printer versus the cost of a cartridge.

I've seen printers that were the same price as two new ink cartridges. Its just like razors ... the give away the handle, but not the blades!

Yea, but usually the ink cartridges in the new printers are the small volume ones. I have the extra capacity inks in mine. They last a lot longer. I just hope this printer doesn't bail on me. It has been a good little printer so far.

Go see your doctor. I'm sure he can fix you up. If not, I'll send out my doctor. He is really into new-age cures.

Steve,
I have always bought the extra capacity cartridges also. I think they are worth the money. And like said above, the printers aren't that expensive, it is the ink where they make their money. But that goes for many things. Anyway I am happy with it and to me that is all that matters.
Warren,
Are you sure that isn't BB dressed as a doctor. Are you tired of her already.

The new printers are nice, but for banging out a page or two, I like my old 4L.
HP seems to make the most durable. I print a lot of pages and they seem to hold up the best.

Calexico/Mexicali. We have a service center down here and I am working on an audit of their claims. Nothing more boring or mind numbing than looking at hundreds upon hundreds of used plastic parts to see if they are really damaged to the point of needing replacement. By 2:00 yesterday we were both laughing at the stupidest stuff.
