Was watching Fox News when they showed a parade in downtown Detroit.
I think I spotted Tru !!! He was wearing a lot of body paint and a strange hat, pretty happy too.
They did show the "Stanley" Cup.I guess they changed the name. When it was in Dallas it was called the Texas Cup.

You all need to take more interest in hockey over that ball and hoop game.
FWB, the Stanley is the most prestigious award you can win playing hockey.
90 degrees guys, we are catching up with Texas on hot.
Fred, We are all happy the cup has come home.
You all keep cool.

Well so far our weather hasn't gotten over the 100 mark for the past couple of weeks but it is somewhat humid and in the low 90s. I was just looking at the extended forecast and is said this would be one of our hotter Summers and water, or the lack of, is going to become a big issue. It is only June and already water rationing has started in some of the outlying areas that depend on wells for their water. Last year they didn't start until late July. And a lot of complaining about all of the water they released from the lake during the Winter and then two weeks ago to form that small lake down at Red Bluff so they could have their boat races. Looks as if we are in for a long, HOT Summer.

FWB,
Nice picture. I would like to see someone dunk through that hoop. Heck we all know that Hockey is just a game played by wanna be football players who skate around and beat each other with sticks. But I have to admit, that Boston and the other sports teams back there have had some very good seasons the last couple of years.

I am only walking without the boot from the couch to the bathroom and back. If I have to go outside for any reason, or I will be moving about a bunch in the house I put it on. My last surgery she told me that if I take care of it, I should be able to make it up to 5 years before it needs to be fused. That was almost 9 years ago, and this is the first major injury since then. Knowing that fusing is in my future, I try my best to not take chances with it, and I have not injured it in all that time. The doctor said he believes it is still strong, and the boot is just a precaution. He wants me to walk on it as much as I can, and wants me to switch to the lace up brace when the swelling is gone. He is going to look at it again in about 3 weeks to double check that there wasn't damage that was masked by the swelling and pain I was in on Monday.
Edit: I have about 90% of my range of motion back now, with only discomfort/minor twinge of pain when I move it for my stretching exercises. I am hoping that by mid week next week, I will be able to get rid of the boot for the brace.

It looks like Seattle is stepping up to help with all the Global Warming that is being caused from y'alls forest fires.
They have banned bonfires on their beaches to help stem this coming disaster.
What's wrong with the people out there ?

Joe,
Have you tried telling your wife that she is going to have to woman up and take charge of the lawn mower yet ?
Who knows it might be 3 months before your ankle can handle that kind of abuse.

I think she has figured out that she has to do it this weekend. Hell, she is already treating me like I am paraplegic. All I have to do is make it look like I intend to do something, and she is stepping in and taking over, making me go sit down.

Just got this e-mail.Thought y'all might be interested in this upcoming program on The Discovery Channel.
Discovery Channel Alert
"Everyone,
Many of you probably know that Dangerous Films of the UK was tasked with
doing a documentary on the history of space flight to be shown on the
Discovery Channel sometime this year. I was honored to have been asked
(even though I did not want to appear on camera, etc., etc.) to participate
and did so last November. My interview was to be with Scott Carpenter and
John Glenn, the last two surviving Mercury astronauts. John was late in
arriving due to high winds (he flew he and Annie to the Cape), so Scott and
I appeared together. Dangerous films was to let us all know when it would
be aired.
Due to a number of problems at NASA-Ames, I have been unable to access my
NASA email account, therefore, did not receive word about when the
documentary was to be shown. Two nights ago, I caught a brief snippet
about a presentation to be shown on the Discovery Channel June 9th (I think
was the date given).
In tonight paper I accidently found this blurb and, to those who asked that
I let them know when the film would be shown, here is what the "blurb"
states:
"The last time the Discovery Channel took on an epic documentary, it was
"Planet Earth" - a wondrous bit of filmaking that made a very strong case
for going high def if you haven't already done so. But if you still need
convincing, there's Discovery's new "When We Left Earth: The NASA
Missions", a six-part mini series starting this Sunday at 9 p.m.. Given
extraordinary access to previously unseen NASA footage, the film-makers have
crafted a beautiful tone poem to the space program from Mercury to the
International Space Station. It's great stuff that deserves to be seen In
HD."
It looks like it will start this Sunday, June 8th, and for those of you who
are interested and asked to be notified, this is the best I can do to advise
you as to when it will be shown. I just hope the newspaper is correct.
You will probably see the advertisements on TV. You probably should check
your local listings for the exact time, It may vary from state to state.
Dee"

The Harley Dealership is cooking and giving away free hamburgers & hot dogs tomorrow after you give a pint of blood to the Carter Blood center.
While you are giving blood and they are cooking up your burger, they have girls in bikinis washing your bike for free too.
Free burger and bikini bike wash, all for just 1 pint of blood.
Sounds like a deal to me.....I'll be there at 11 a.m. in case there is a line.

Ron, I have lost all respect for you.
Fred, that is great you can still give blood. They won't take mine, they tell me it isn't human.
Joe, I am not sure you are milking the ankle enough.
It is going to be hot, wet and sticky...just like I like it.

Fred,
They banned all back yard barbecues here last Summer but couldn't figure out how to enforce it so dropped it. They can't just open locked gates and walk into a person's yard or patio and since nearly everyone around here has them, it would have taken ever person they could hire to drive around and look to see if they could spot one. Then not many would take the job as it was to be no pay, just volunteer. Just think how much we wrecked the atmosphere with all of those barbecues last year. And now with gas and everything so high there will be more of them.
Tru,
Why have to learn to skate on ice to hot each other with sticks? They were doing that from the beginning and then some idiot got the idea of sharpening the end of a stick and things just escalated from there.

A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship and orders a Scotch with two drops of water. As the bartender gives her the drink she says,
'I'm on this cruise to celebrate my 80th birthday and it's today...'
The bartender says, 'Well, since it's your birthday, I'll buy you a drink. In fact, this one is on me.'
As the woman finishes her drink, the woman to her right says, 'I would like to buy you a drin k, too.'
The old woman says, 'Thank you. Bartender, I want a Scotch with two drops of water.'
'Coming up,' says the bartender
As she finishes that drink, the man to her left says, 'I would like to buy you one, too.'
The old woman says, 'Thank you. Bartender, I want another Scotch with two drops of water.'
'Coming right up,' the bartender says.
As he gives her the drink, he says, 'Ma'am, I'm dying of curiosity. Why the Scotch with only two drops of water?'
The old woman replies, 'Sonny, when you're my age, you've learned how to hold your liquor. Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue.'

Took a nice ride this morning. As I was driving home about noon, it was hot! The temp about 1 mile from my house was 91°F. At my house, it was 74°F. Love that sea breeze.
Just came inside. It's 84°F outside, and I have a super accurate temperature indicator. The temperature 2 miles inland that the weather channel uses for my hometown is 99°F.
I just love the Atlantic Ocean and the east wind.

Tru,
I am glad that you are getting to go for some drives now. It sounds as if your weather is just about perfect. I really do miss my car, but for me that is a thing of the past. So I will spend my remaining time just trying to remember what fun it was.
