Warren,

Even if I had a car I wouldn't take it out in this mess. I did drive over to the dam this morning and talked to some of the security guards. Smoke was so think you couldn't see the bottom of the canyon and barely the river in places. Some guy stopped that was driving a lowboy and said he had to come back in a couple of weeks to get their D-8 dozer. I guess they got a D-6 stuck and took a D-7 down to pull it out and now they are both stuck. He also said they had a brand new D-7 that just had 8 hours on it stuck farther North. At least there was a breeze off the lake and it kept the smoke away from the dam, so I had my first breath of clean air in three weeks. Fortunately I have a permit to cross the dam so I could go out on it and look around. And on the way home I passed 7 fire trucks heading over there. It is supposed to be around 104 here today, so it will be really bad in those canyons near the fires.

Ron

[quote=wtm442;858617]Fred & FWB

Another great breakfast - two egg beater Spanish omelet with cheese (no fat), 1/2 chicken sausage, raisin eng muffin w/jelly, a banana, one grapefruit, 1/2 glass apple juice and coffee

600 calories (only 5 gms of fat)

coffee would have been my breakfast, the muffin and grapefruit would bloat me
for lunch, the two egg omelet would have been dinner, man where do you stuff it all in the morning, do you take a nap after all that. heheh, really i just never
get that damn hungry. yesterdays dinner for me was a salad and humous.

OKay, the cobra is out of commission until I fix the sticking rear brakes. I think I need a new rear brake master cylinder.

I take it that you got it home safe and sound under it's own power ?

Luckily those m/c are fairly inexpensive. As compared to a lot of the other parts.

Ron,
You've been under a lot of stress with all the fires.Breathing all that smoke and ash certainly can not be doing you any good. Now would not be a good time to be making big decisions.
Selling your Cobra & Comet would be a decision you would regret, big time.

As far as other stuff and magazines,go for it.You may even be over due like most of us.

OK class, time for a quiz. Where was John Hancock born?

He was born about 50 feet behind my Cobra. The building on the left is the Quincy Historical Society, and John Hancock's birthplace was approximately where the statute is located.

Yeah, but going to Paris Texas is not the same as visiting them French people.

Ron, come on out for a visit. You can sit around in chilly weather and dodge rain drops over inhaling burning trees while getting a huge sun-burn.

May be visit Warren.

along the way.Found out there was a BIG rally starting that day in Tulsa.

OK, where is Ron.

Hey Ron, can you come out and play?

I read that it was going to be extremely hot today where Ron lives.

Yesterday was extremely sticky here and it going to be worse today. Going to be above 90°F which is not too hot, but the dewpoint is 71°F which is in the oppressive range. I've had the AC going non-stop for 3 days, which is a lot around these parts.

With Biker Babe in charge (always a bad idea) of navigation on the scooter,I have decided it is time for some reliable help.

I have had it with her directions ALWAYS leading us to the closest All You Can Eat Buffet.

Ordered a Garmin Zumo 550 yesterday. This sucker does it all.

Doing the trace on Fed-Ex,it is on the truck in Dallas for delivery.!

Customize your ride with zumo 550, the rugged motorcycle navigator that's born to ride. Designed by bikers, zumo's motorcycle-friendly features make it easy to operate while in the saddle. From back roads to rallies, its preloaded maps and navigation features give you the freedom to go where you want. zumo 550 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps and a hefty points of interest (POIs) database, including motels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply enter a destination, and zumo takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions that speak street names. In addition, zumo accepts customized points of interest such as school zones and safety cameras and includes proximity alerts to warn of upcoming POIs. It is also compatible with Garmin's Tour Guide a free utility that allows you to build and upload a database of POIs that are encoded with photos and MP3 files. A rechargeable, removable lithium-ion battery (three hour typical use) is integrated into zumo for trip planning or use on foot. In addition, zumo even accepts electronic maps making it the ultimate off-road navigator.

Fred
Hope you can read it in the bright sun, and hear the directions. I got a Magellan GPS and it is very hard to see the screen in the Cobra when the sun is out AND I'm wearing my prescription sun glasses.

Let me know how well you can see your GPS in the direct sun.

Fred must have an unlimited source of funds like Warren.

For the rest of us, gas is $4.40 a gallon. Hope you can limit your travel to minimal distances.

Fred has a side business with BB and the Humpin Ho sisters, so his supply of quarters is endless. I, on the other hand, have to pay for every drop of gas. But as my uncle once said, the best way to retire is to bounce your first check the day you die.

He also said that if you hit anyone on the street with your car, make sure you back up and run over them to make sure they are dead.

He was a character ... and a drunk too.

Did you know that a thirsty camel can drink 21 gallons of water in 10 minutes?
