Gee Warren, sorry about the turtle bottom comment. Seems to have touched a nerve.

I am not sure Fred or HLC would say I was old or a coot. I certainly need to get pictures with my eyes open. I look sleepy.

Thanks for posting that picture of my friends and I...it is a good memory. Those certainly are people I would trust to tell me if I was an old coot.

So, it was like 37 this morning. Makes people drive slower or something.

The trees are full of colors, I was surprised at the speed the changes are coming.

:D :D

trularin 10-17-2008 08:41 AM

Gee Steve, I met your wife...I didn't think she was old enough to have been married that long.

Congrat!

:D

I think Jay and I were confirming the frog was stuffed in Mexico.

You can't get that kind of quality in the US when it comes to stuffing frogs.

Ron, have you inspected any Frogs for stuffing???

I was wondering if the quality is better where you are than in Mexico.

Those California stuffers might do a better job than Mexico.

Thanks, thanks.

She stopped having birthdays a few years ago, she now has anniversaries of her 39th birthday. You should see me trying to get all that on a cake every year.

I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. God knew what he was doing when he gave me my wife.

4RE KLR 10-17-2008 08:58 AM

Fred,
Many ,many years ago there was a building in Dallas that had the "Dancing Frogs" on the roof. later they were moved down south to a drive in bar I think. Have you ever seen the "Dancing Frogs"? .

392cobra 10-17-2008 09:02 AM

Nope,not the Roof Dancin' Frogs.

Just the Lap Dancin' Frogs.

4RE KLR 10-17-2008 09:07 AM

Yea, I Googled Dancing frogs.

The place is Carl's Corner. They have the old frogs that were on the building in downtown Dallas, for many years.

wtm442 10-17-2008 10:49 AM

Yuck
Lap dancin' Humpin' Ho Sisters. OMG.

I'm going down cellar and give Turtle another coat of varnish. Then I'm going to slip him inside a baggy (thats a big condom) to protect him from wandering frogs.

Tru - just a few more hours and it will be time to go home. Then you can biitch about all the work you have to do around the homestead.   Just do what I do ... back-print your To Do List. **) **) **)

I tried to balance my checkbook in Quicken and it was off a couple hundred. Checked back to last month and it was OK when I reconciled it a month ago, but now its off by a couple hundred.

Somehow I must have changed a date on an entry cuz even last January is now off by the couple of hundred. Call out the hounds. The error hunt is ON.

Today's CC Chat Thread conversations have hit a new low. Call The Guinness Book of Records.

Better yet, call the Guinness Brewery and order a few kegs!

Happy Weekend Everyone. Beam me up Scottie.

Steve

Happy Anniversary. Your comment about your wifes 39th birthday reminds me of the time I gave my sister a birthday card.

She was 59, and I got her a "Happy 20th Anniversary" card ... and I wrote on the inside "of your 39th Birthday".

Tru - no stuffin in Turtle ... he's 100% wood ... I checked.

Its all the way up to 59°F and sunny. Maybe I can go for a short ride now. Wool hat and gloves. Maybe I'll just skip the ride and stay warm. Of course, there is plenty of work I could do around the house, but if I did it all, there would be nothing to do tomorrow.

FWB 10-17-2008 12:36 PM

i would welcome the 59 deg. went for a cruise last night, it was 48 deg, hat gloves, coat. i didn't mind, police kept following me as i drove from township to township. gues they thought i was nuts, and they were right.:3DSMILE:

trularin 10-17-2008 03:59 PM

The police are sort of looking for anything. People can't afford the gas to speed.

:D :D :D

FWB 10-17-2008 04:37 PM

traffic around here has dropped alot, and i have noticed a greater police presence. they seem to meander aimlessly though. your mention of the not having speeders to ticket may be true. the local police use my driveway to get the job done, they haven't been here in a while. i am usually good for 2 or 3
people wiping out into my yard a year, this year no one. the year is still not over
the first snowfall i will get some amateur that looses it and i can sell their insurance co. a tree. last tree i sold is still living, maybe i can sell it twice.:D

We have the same problem in the winter, only it is the mail box.

People fly over the hill in the snow and loose control...hit the mail box.

Do you put up any posts or beams to stop them?

We thought about it, but we were afraid we would get stuck vehicles in our drive.

wtm442 10-17-2008 05:44 PM

I've noticed an increase in speed traps in my area. I may be forced to get a radar detector. Nobody in the local police forces says there is a quota on speeding tickets ... but I think there is a "target" in many cities.

I ran out of ripe tomatoes .... I had to buy some today.

A guy I know was having his mailbox flatten on a regular basis.Never could catch to drivers.

He ended up building a heavy duty mailbox. Poured a 18 inch square concrete pillar, reinforced with rebarb (sp) 2 feet deep. Box was perched on top.

His idea was to disable whatever hits it.

It works. Has found several cars totaled next to it.:)

trularin 10-17-2008 06:16 PM

I have replaced the post and box a number of times Fred.

There have been some interesting pieces of vehicle next to the broken post.

I sort of wish the car would be there long enough to get the owners name and address so they can buy the next post and box.

:D :D :D

wtm442 10-17-2008 06:53 PM

Is there anyone out there that wants a free room? All you have to do is wash the dishes.

392cobra 10-17-2008 08:26 PM

Biker Babe does.

Ron61 10-18-2008 01:41 AM

What's the matter Warren? Is the cost of heating oil so high that you need a border to help with the heat. Or do you just have a room that you want someone else to clean up? With the reports that your area is going to have a very LONG AND COLD Winter, it may be hard to get any of the Texans to move up there.

Ron
