That's why I posted about it.It just doesn't happen here.
I was in the LA earthquake that knocked down a lot of freeway bridges and other damage. It was about 1972,I think.Strange feeling.

We have had a few here - nothing much on Oahu although a couple of years
ago I woke up and everything was moving for about 10 seconds - no damage
but was a helpless feeling - nothing to do but wait it out. Hawaii and Maui
have had some rockers with damage a few times since I have been here.

It is cold here this morning. The temperature is right on the 40° mark and the wind was blowing pretty hard a little while ago. I hope the wind stops as that is what makes it miserable for me.
Well if the local news is to be believed there will be a record turn out to vote today. As Warren said, it is going to be a looooooooooooong day today. I need to go to the vets and get dog food if they have gotten any in yet.

Head out to the "VA" for my bi-annual check up in a little bit.
Used to be a real pain with all the long waits but in the last 1.5 years are so it has greatly improved.
What I really enjoy is getting to meet WW II Vets there. They are passing away way too fast.

Fred,
You are so right about the World War 11 vets passing on to fast. We used to have quite a few around here and at last years Veterans Day Parade I only saw 5 or 6 and talked to them. I wonder if they will even come out this year for the parade as all but two of them were in bad health last year. We do have several Vietnam Vets around this area and I like to talk to them also.
I hope that your check comes out ok. Just don't mention Frenchy & the Ho Sisters or BB or we may be e-mailing you in the psych ward. Tell them you are just keeping them for the Winter for Warren.

Just got back from taking the dogs for their walks and I am freezing. I saw the voting place was open as it is just around the corner from my house now. They use the Senior Citizen Hall instead of the place they used to use clear across town. But I saw in yesterdays paper that over half of the people in this area have already voted as they use the mail in ballots. I guess they have to wait for the polls to close to count them, but I would think they could start that count a little before the polls close as they won't be getting any more in on time to count them.
I also passed a house that already has their Christmas lights up and on. For crying out loud, I thought Thanksgiving came before Christmas. Oh well.maybe they expect a lot this Christmas with a new leader.

Glad to see you've got some chilly weather. Just finished lunch, have already voted, the sun is shining, and the temp outside is 66°F.
I think I'm going to burn up some cheap gas this afternoon. Saw regular at $2.29 a gallon yesterday.
Christmas lights ... I just saw some last night on a house on the next street. I can see them thru my kitchen window. Give me a break.
Well, its time for a ride. Maybe I can find some nice fall color.

Waren,
Just back from Redding where I had to get several things done. It is warming up nicely here now and should get into the 60s they say. But I see some clouds starting to gather and they have changed the forecast again to light showers off and on this evening and tomorrow. Not enough rain to help, but enough to make it wet and cold to get outside. We don't need fractions of an inch. We need it in feet to get things back close to normal. Lassen got 2"of snow which was gone in 30 minutes. Enjoy your drive as I sure won't be taking any for a while now.

It is cold here this morning. Just at 39° right now but it is only 11:15 PM on the 4th. It gets the coldest around 3 AM and I am looking for it to drop down to around 35°.
I am going back to bed as I have felt really lousy the past three days and the dogs won't let me sleep more than 2 hours no matter how late I stay up with them. Went to bed at 9 PM and they wanted up at 10:30 PM. Darn I wish I was that young again and enjoyed spending the day playing and napping.
See you later.

Well back up and this time for the day. It is 3 AM and the temp has dropped to 36. Forecast was for partly cloudy but it is to dark for me to tell yet. Both dogs have gone back to bed and are napping again. This time change has them as messed up as I am. They still want to eat at the same time regardless of what the clock says. Oh, well it will take the usual week for me to adjust and then things will be back to as normal as they get for me.

Good Morning Obamaworld.
The sun came out so not all is lost. But it is supposed to rain for the next 4 days.
Hey Ron - dentist appointment today for a root canal. How's that make you feel? My 30+ year old bridge gave up the ghost and one of the underlying tooth is decayed. Bummer.
Fred - no turtle soup for you. Before I started eating right, my LDL was about 200. Within 6 months while on my "diet", it went down to 110. At one point I had it at 58, but that is when I was really losing a lot of weight. Currently bounces between 80 and 120.

Warren,
I really feel for you. I had one root canal a long time ago and will never have another. Soup sounds good compared to going through that again. Hope everything goes well and that you have no problems.
I see wehave showers in the forecast for Friday.

WOW, that is some good LDL numbers.
Okay, the event is over, we move on.
It was like 71 degrees last night in Chicago. Wasn't bad at our house either.
So, I am looking to buy a new TV. LCD, 52 inch, 120 hz, 4mS or better refresh, 30k:1 or better dynamic. Any suggestions???

Yes, please explain in English what you just said.
Actually CW and some of the others that are really familiar with these TVs would be the best to help you out. I saw in my PC World Magazine that the prices are going to drop quite a bit on all of these TVs at the end of the year. I think the supply is catching up to the demand. No farther than I can get from my TV, they say a 38 to 40" would be as large as I should go. I have been looking at various ones in the stores where they have them on, and most of them look good to me, but my eyesight isn't real great. Are you going to get a Hi Def one?

Sorry about the root canal,no fun but a good dentist will make it 100% painless and not all that bad.
I had my one an only this time last year. Not that I ever want another but it certainly wasn't the horror stories you hear about it.
Speaking of which,I'm having a root canal special this month.I will even throw in buckets of fresh Turtle Soup.
