He will graduate early in December. He can come back in May to walk the stage if he wants to.
He started taking dual credit courses in his Jr. year. So,when he graduates in Dec. he will have 15 hrs. of credits that Tech accepts. That makes him a 2nd semester Freshman. He is jumping a whole year.
He has wanted to go to Tech since he was 6.He got in contact with them to find out was accepted in the 10th grade..A Tech recruiter has been working with him since the end of his Sophomore year.
He has had plans to get his PhD from MIT for 2 years now, after getting his BS and Masters from Tech.
He is focused if nothing else.

No,he wasn't on a plan,per se.

He knew he could do it and researched the policies and laws on Graduating early.
His HS didn't know squat about it.He educated them about it and wouldn't let up.
They finally realized it was a lot easier to just give him the okay.

Yes he is moving to lubbock.Freshmen are required to live on campus. I like that.

Great news Fred and Josh sounds as if he really has done a lot of work to make this come about. I wish him all the good fortune in the world. And he had a very good example to look up to. No I don't mean Frenchy and her hoard.

Try this, it is just music but kind of nice I thought.

Good morn y'all.

Tis raining outside. Looks like an "inside day". Stock market still on a roller coaster ride. Looks like I will not jump back in the water for a while.

Fred - I'm sure Josh is thrilled to finally get away from BB and the Humpin' Ho sisters. Is he going to have a minor in catching criminals?

Daylight savings time $ucks. I'm still getting up too early, just like Ron. But I need my beauty sleep.

Yea, I don't like the daylight savings time either. Just moving the hands on a clock doesn't change what my body is used to. I wish they would do away with it, but that won't happen.

It isn't raining here this morning but is cold. I think our high yesterday was around 50. Low here was 34.

oh, ok, thanks for the info, Fred!
we took a look at Tech, when we did the 'whirlwind' thing in July.
We first went to TCU, ACU, then Tech. I think he was overwhelmed with the college thing by then. It was about 110*, we walked for what seemed like miles, had a really nice visit at the Business School, but when we came out he said 'let's go; i'm ready to leave'. i think the heat and info overload from the 3 schools was hitting.
My niece started her freshman year there this year.
I have several friends who's kids go there- and i have never met anyone that didn't love it! I believe Miles graduated from Tech, in Architecture. Excellent reputation in Engineering and Architecture.

Peter is taking dual credit now, as well, and will graduate in May with hmm I think 26 hours. They generally all transfer to public schools; the privates will most likely take the basic English, History, psychology, sociology, but probably not his internet/media presentation class. 8 hours! It will transfer as 'elective hours' though.

So, anyway- i know this will be a new adventure for you and him, and aren't you glad ya'll did the 'biker weekend' when you did. the opportunity might not have come again.

I hate to sound all religious and all; but..... the Lord knows the plans he has for us (and Josh) and he KNEW ya'll needed to take that trip just then!!

ya'll have a great day!
K

I listen to 3 radio stations. One is all talk ... Rush L, Howie Carr, Laura Ingram, etc. The other 2 are oldies music from the 60 & 70's.

Both oldies stations started playing Christmas songs 24/7 yesterday.

Woe is me. I have to find some new oldies stations. Christmas music is nice, but not 24/7 for 50 days in a row.

Fred - you have to spread the word to all of you friends and relatives when Josh gets settled in his dorm. My niece just graduated college last year, and I used to send her a "Care Package" about every 4 to 6 months - big box with crackers, PNB, cookies, chips, printer ink, electric blanket, spending cash, etc. She loved the packages and all of her friends were jealous. I used to look for interesting boxes to try to fool her. One time I sent stuff in a Dell Computer box. Next time it was a Victoria's Secret box, etc.

I forgot what the HELLO I wanted .

I know I'm going to regret,I think I already am,asking this ...what the hello is PNB ?

Went grocery shopping this afternoon and the shopping malls have decorations up on the light poles in the parking lots.
I had my 25k mile service done at the Harley dealer last Monday. They even have Christmas tree decorations and gifts for sale already.

As good a guess as any. Wonder if Warren knows ?

Suppose to be sunny with highs in the low 70's.

Going for a ride both days.Usually get in 200-400 mile days on the weekends.

Just need to be back in time for the Texas Tech - Oklahoma State game at 7pm tomorrow night.

Tru is correct. Raining here too. Fog just rolled in. Tomorrow is a wash, but Sunday is supposed to be sunny and 60°F.

Filled up the Merc with regular at $2.04 per gallon. Couple of stations about 10 miles away in news last night with gas at $1.96.

Great. Gas is getting cheap just when the Cobra driving weather goes south.

It was supposed to be raining here this morning and rain for the next three days. So far this is the warmest and nicest morning we have had in a week and NO rain. I saw in the paper yesterday that one of the Marinas has vanished and the house boats are now setting on a sand bar. In the pictures that I posted of the lake, one showed the old Highway 99 bridge, and they are having ton use cranes to try and get the house boats out of the and and silt, then take the tops off to bloat them under that bridge and take them to another marina that still has enough water for them to dock. Some of them are just going to have to stay until the lake comes up enough again to float them. So far we have had abut 4 1/2" of rain and they are going crazy as that is way above average, but I don't think using the past 3 years when we had none or at most an inch is much of a way to figure the average. Everyone is so desperate for a wet Winter they will try anything to make it look as if we are going to have one. We could use about 80" this Winter with a very deep snow pack in the mountains to get things back to normal.

I think you should send a message to the Mt Shasta Goddess.

I just walked out and opened the gate and there are stars showing. So I guess the heavy rain for today is off. Of course that could change but I wouldn't bet on it. The Goddess is keeping all of the water to make snow out of to send to you and Tru.

Today is the Veterans Day parade here and if it isn't raining I will most likely walk down and watch and talk to some of them. For a small town they normally have a pretty big turn out for it each year.
