Well I have to call and see if I can get in to see my doctor today. This is not starting off as a very good week. I had hoped to accomplish a few things, but the weekend was a total loss and if I can't get something done I fear this week will be not so well.

Well, we lost power again.

I am going to have to start looking for a serious generator.

Well I spent most of the morning at the doctors and it was nice and cool there. But when I walked outside it was sure not. The temperature is 106 and it is humid. More time inside with the sir conditioner.

Well another hot day in store for today but it isn't supposed to get as high as yesterday. The high today is only supposed to be 101, but we have quite a bit of smoke in the valley from various small fires burning to the East and North of here.

Ron, is that a dry heat??

They are using that line in more and more movies. Saw something just the other day and the guy said, "Yeah, but it's a dry heat."

Our hot day has passed. Back down in the 80s. I called some friends in Texas, they said it was down to 102. Dang that is warm.

Rained again last night, I hope we get rain every night for the next two months. I could see some food out of the garden without me watering.

We keep getting real hot days and then strong thunderstorms. It is like Mother Nature can't decide if it is still spring or summer.

Tru,

Sadly no, this is not dry heat. Very humid and we have smoke from all of the fires that is starting to fill the valley to top that off. They think they may have the last of the fires contained by Thursday if the wind doesn't come up again.

With all the fires you have had in the past, you'd think everything was burned up.

There are still a few canyons that the ones last year missed. But so far this year hasn't been nearly as bad. And I hope they can get the ones still burning contained and start putting them out soon.

Fred, is your Harley chopped or is it as Harley made it?

I think I can buy a chopper for 1/3 less than it would cost me to build one.

You would think it would be the other way around.

Another big fire blew up just 30 miles West of here Two days ago and the smoke is really bad. And to make it worse it is right in the middle of the Lewstion area, which is where they have spent the last three weeks tearing out the huge Marijuana gardens. Talk about a miserable time to be outside. But this morning we had a light breeze and some of the smoke has moved on and I can actually see the sky right now.

Your AC air filters must be black with soot.

Tru,

I am changing them about every other day. I went to the hardware store and bought a whole case of them. Now they have big fires back down south in the Los Angles and Santa Barbara areas again. These last two Summers have not been good for us from a fire standpoint. Borate Bombers flew over the house most of the day yesterday shaking everything. I have only heard the spotter planes this morning so maybe they have these fires somewhat contained and are moving the heavy stuff South.

Edit: I just saw on the news where they have arrested a woman for starting this fire near me by throwing her cigarette out in the brush. She is being held in jail right now. They should make her worek on the fire lines.

Sunday and another day less than triple digits and even most of the smoke has moved away as we had some wind yesterday afternoon. But the forecast is for it to be back in the triple digits range Monday and all next week. More fires in Southern Calif., but they are getting the ones here under control.

The woman who was arrested for starting the big one over by Lewiston is going to be charged with a variety of things. Probably nothing will be done as she can't pay the cost of fighting the fire. I think she should be put on the fire line and made to stay there until it is completely out.

Well, every person with a car was on WoodWard yesterday. It was the dream cruise.

I did not go as I attended a wedding...in 90 degree heat.

Did over a gallon of peach jam, not sure how it will turnout. The other ones turned out good, so this probably will also.

I am just waiting for the temp to drop a little.

Well gee Mike Z, you should be great-full. It's not often we can arrange pleasant weather for someone through The Mt Shasta Goddess.

It was warm yesterday and feels like it is going to be warm today.

Do you even look at your post count? I notice it once in a while and wonder if I should stop at some significant number. Like the one coming up for me will be 8888.

Strange how we look at events in our lives. With my niece married, I feel a bit older.

Mike,

So far our August hasn't been as hot as July was when we set the heat records, bit it is supposed to start getting hotter today and get more so each day of the week.

I think I am going to have to call my doctor today and see if I can get in. Not a good weekend at all.

Ron, I am sorry to hear you had a rough weekend.

Was it the heat or the smoke? Both?

Tru,

It was a combination of both and then my nerves went all to pieces plus I ran a very high temperature most of Saturday and part of Sunday. I am still weak and feel light headed this morning, but my nerves are really strung out and I think I had better get in and see if he can give me a shot to get this under control. And with hotter weather coming each day this week, I just feel to bad to fight with it.
