Well that is great. Now you will have it in plenty of time before Christmas. I notice several of the places out here are advertising free 2 day shipping if you order from them before Christmas.

Wow, it is cold and very foggy here this morning and supposed to rain tomorrow and Monday. This fog was not forecast as the weather last night showed it sunny and warm today. So their record of never getting it correct is still intact.

PANIC!!! I went out to start the 69 today and run it in the garage until the oil and water were up to operating temperature. It is cold and foggy so I figured it would be cold in there. Boy was it. Anyway this car has always started very well and it has been setting for almost 5 months now so I pumper the accelerator a few times, let it set a few seconds and then tried to start it. It turned right over but never fired so I gave it a little more gas and it fired right up. Had to play with the accelerator for a minute as it has no choke. After it warmed up enough to idle I noticed the dome light was not lighting. Now keep in mind this is the original light bulb and lens that came in the car. The lens has 4 small plastic type prongs that are sort of like a spring load that you have to pull down, it has a small lip to use a screwdriver, but the plastic is so old and brittle I was afraid it would crack the edge so I just pulled it straight down with my fingers. Great until one of the 4 plastic holders hung and caused my thumb to slip and now I have a hole in the end of the lens the size of my thumb on one end. Good news is they are available from the Concourse Car catalog that I use a lot and I ordered two more that should be here in a week or so. That is the first time that light ever burned out and I guess after being heated by the light for 40 years that plastic lens did well. The price of the new one is just $10 plus shipping so I ordered two as they most likely won't have any if and when I ever need another one. Of course I also had no spare bulbs and had to go to NAPA and get a couple. But I did get the car ran for a while and got the oil and water up to temp. Not as good as driving it and getting the transmission and rear end grease warmed up, but much better than just letting it set. I also have two long rubber exhaust extensions that I slip over the exhaust pipes and run out the side walk door of the garage so there are no exhaust fumes in the garage.

I like your idea for the exhaust.

Busy weekend for me, and the next 2 days are likely to be busy as well. Taking wednesday off to get the inspection and registration done on the truck, plus I am making a surprise dinner.

Joe,

I hope that your weekend goes well. Most people around here are busy trying to get everything ready for the holidays. I am storing extra food and drinks in the bedroom so I won't have to get out of bed.

I got the exhaust extensions from NAPA and they are expensive but well worth the price as I have used them for years and they keep the exhaust out of the garage. Plus I put the ends near where some spiders like to make their webs and that sure put an end to that.

Now that is a great idea Ron. This weekend I stopped by the train store and bought a few more cars for my train. I am now at a point that this weekend, I may try to start the grade changes in the track, or at least get the the wood and some track pieces I need. I need to clean up a bit and take a new video. I got the track crossing bell working, but am still working on the resistor values for the crossing lights.

It sounds as if you are making good progress. Take some pictures and post them for us to see. All of the model places around here have gone out of business except I believe the one out on Airport road is still open. But they would never handle working missiles.

The train store I go to is right next to a small private airport here. They are the only one left in the metroplex, and they do only trains. They have a good selection but are struggling in these times as only hobbyists are doing trains anymore and several have cut back. I hope they make it as I like being able to see the product and test it out before I buy it.

I saw that Hurricane has sold their first kit under the new ownership. Now I just wish I could buy one. 9 more payments on the Mustang, and then that money starts being saved. Still a long way to go

Mine is testy in the cold. I have to pump it a few times and then feather the gas until the choke kicks in.

Good thing you didn't break something else.

I think Dean purchased one.

Got to wonder about getting a car with that name on it...seems plagued.

Yea it was his thread that I read. So far the ones that were built buy the original Hurricane seem to be good cars (at least the 3 local ones that I know of). I think any kit is what you make of it, and after reading what was written, I think it will turn out to be a good kit. Hurricane did not have the necessary financial backing needed, so they sold it, unfortunately the buyers were less than ethical and got arrested. I don't think the name is plagued, but had a hard run. Time will tell, but the new owners seem to have what is needed, and in a very short time, have made some updates and PRODUCED a 2nd car that has been sold. That is a benchmark I think.

If you remember years ago I think it was Lone Star that went through a bad spell. I had a friend that got one and the frame was so light that it twisted with just normal driving and I heard of several others that had frame problems. Then they sold out to another person and they corrected the problems but it was hard to live down that first reputation.

Man it is cold here this morning. We had rain all day yesterday and it froze last night and everything is covered in ice. It is supposed to be sunny and in the 50s today. I had to take a hammer and beat my gate latch to get it loose. I was about ready to go get my small propane hand held torch and use it to thaw out the gates and locks. It is days like this that make me happy I chose to not move back East where it really gets cold.

Well, it snowed again.

It wouldn't be so bad, but the people drive like they are on ice.

It took near two hours this morning to get to work.

Merry Christmas to you too Steve.

Tru, Be careful. In some ways I wish it would here tonight. I am taking tomorrow off, but the wife has to come in to work. We could sleep in if it were to snow here, but then she would likely get a call requiring Saturday to be a make up day.

Thanks Steve. another century added to my age.

The older we get the more important it is to incorporate exercise into
our daily routine. This is necessary to maintain cardiovascular health
and maintain muscle mass.

If you're over 40, you might want to take it easy at first, then do more
repetitions as you become more proficient and build stamina.
Warning: It may be too strenuous for some.

Always consult your doctor before starting any exercise program!

SCROLL DOWN.............

That's enough for the first day.

Great job.

Have a glass of wine.

NOW SCROLL UP....
