We had a quake a few days ago.
I didn't feel anything.
The people on the other side of the cube felt something.
Go figure.

Took a 1,138 mile ride out of Dallas last weekend. To Lubbock, then a 440 mile loop through New Mexico.
First stop on the NM loop was Roswell's UFO Museum. I was proud to accept a Welcome Back Home gift. Picture below.I guess I'm Official in two States now.
Then up to Fort Sumner where Pat Garrett shot Billy the Kid and is buried.Went through the museum and saw his grave.Pretty neat.
Back through Clovis and to Lubbock. It was 105 during the afternoon but fun.

Darn Mike,
That is to bad. I need to get back down there and visit some of the places. I went to school at Santa Ynez for a year and also was in the Boy Scout troop there. I always loved the Santa Barbara area and Solvang was one of my favorite places for Bakery food.

I need your advice Ron,
I recently tracked down a 2001 fully finished Factory Five Cobra(1965 replica)- the engine is from a 1987 donor and has 95,000 miles on it. The transmission is from a 1992 donor (not sure about the miles). The clutch and brakes are new- My question is this.. I can pick it up for $15,000 as is. Do you think that $15,000 is a good deal even with the high miles? I can always replace the engine... right? Any insight and advice would be greatly appreciated!

loandoctor,
I really don't like to give advice on any car as there are so many things that should be checked besides the engine and transmission. The suspension would be one thing that I would want to have really checked out, plus the condition of the paint, interior and other cosmetic things. If everything is in good shape, the price isn't bad at all and is a tad low it seems to me, so I would look at it closely.
There are others on here that can give you far more advice on what to look for than I can. Maybe if you could get some pictures and post them it would help.
Edit: Also you will get a much better response if you post this in the All Cobra Talk Forum.

Hey, it has cooled off here. Just supposed to be in the upper 80s the next day or so and that seems cold after the past week. But the humidity is worse. Maybe because I live so close to the lake and it is full for the first time in 6 years. I may try to mow my yard full of weeds today if nothing else happens.

Wow, that was a fast cool spell. The forecast this morning said a high of 80 today and it is 101 right now with humidity and a heat index of 107. And so dusty that the light breeze we have blowing just makes you sneeze like mad. I did knock down the weeds in the yard but that is it for the day.
Also got the rear end grease and transmission fluid in the 69 changed this morning. Did a small burn out across Jack's island and used $10 dollars of gas.

Drove the Cobra to work today.
Dang, it was 48 last night, so you can imagine how chilly it was on the way in.
I almost caused an accident. Came to a light and some younger person was rubber necking between the Cobra and his driving. Almost hit the person in front of him.
I hate that. Yes, look at the car, but for God's sake keep your mind in the game!

Tru,
That happens more than you would think. I had one woman run me clear off the road as she just kept coming over toward me to get a better look. After all of my horn honking and waving my hand she finally woke up and jerked her car back across both lanes as I was clear off on the shoulder and had no farther to go. Felt as if I was driving a cell phone.

That was a good one, "Felt as if I was driving a cell phone."
I am going to have to remember that one.

Better to be retired, wealthy, and living on your own island than either of the above.
