Mike,

Actually Fred is correct. I hit one to many 0s. The only thing in Texas that deep is BS.

Just checked and now Lavon is .60' over the full mark. Hopefully it lasts this year.

Question

Joe,

How far above the full mark can it go before the water starts running down the spillway? Here, if they don't shut the drum gates it can only go a very little above the full mark before it starts. But with all of these canyons for it to spread back up into it takes a lot of water to raise the level a foot once it gets close to full.

Mike,

I know the canyons down around Santa Barbara as I have hiked and climbed through many of them when I lived there. Believe me, they do not compare to some that we have here. The ones just past the dam are over a mile deep and the sides are very steep. That is why it is so hard for them to fight fires here and the crown fires just go everywhere. Even the fire planes have to be careful of these deep canyons as they are sometimes well below the top of the canyon walls and all of the updrafts and smoke causes more crashes than you like to hear of. Now they mostly try to use helicopters for the really deep ones and that is only to slow the fires down to get people out and let them establish a fire line where they can get bulldozers and equipment.

Not real sure on how far above. I know it is a few feet, and they are still not releasing any water. We are also still on stage 3 restrictions. They are not even discussing backing down to stage 2 yet.

Weird weather,

All Winter it was mostly in the 50s to upper 70s and n rain. Then just before spring started it dropped about 20 degrees and we are having rain, wind, and snow on the low hills. Last week, we had one day in the middle of this that it was 72° ans sunny, so I spent the day getting the high, wet grass and weeds in my lawn mowed. It started raining again that night and has rained every since. Some times really hard and other times just light showers. The wind is blowing pretty hard this morning so I will have a yard full of small tree branches again. It is really hard to adjust to these radical weather changes and from what I have seen and heard, they are going to just get worse from now on.

Joe I saw they were releasing water now. I saw they had one of the flood gates partially open. If I remember right they had planned to release water for two days. If we get any more rain and they had not let out some of the water you could have a little flooding. That is a change huh?

Maybe this will help a little downstream.

Yea I saw that too. The spill way was flooding a bit when they started letting out. Too bad we are still on stage 3 water restrictions.

We are supposed to have a day without rain today but more coming tomorrow. Why couldn't we have gotten this during the Winter when it was supposed to come instead of ruining the Spring? But we do need the water do I guess we had better take it while we can get it.

Supposed to get more thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow, but the sky looks like it is about ready to start storming now.

Joe,

Looks the same here but I hope the rain holds off. My neighbor had a big Oak tree blow down Saturday and he was out of town. It tore a big hole in the back side of his house and I just covered it with pieces of the siding it had torn up. I called one of his relatives and they got hold of him and he got home last night so if it doesn't rain I will see if I can help him start to clean up that mess. The tree has to be gotten out before the house can be touched and that thing is about 4 feet in diameter. The roots and all are out and right against the house.

I received an email from Kristen yesterday and they are doing well. One of the boys decided college wasn't for him and joined the Marines I believe it was. The other is a Freshman and she said they hardly heard from him so she is sure he is doing the things that Freshmen do. The girls are into cheer leading and such and she is spending time with them. She doesn't drive the GT-500 much but really enjoys it when she does. She had heard they had quite a turn out at the Texas Cobra Club get together and said to wish you all well.

Mike,

Kristen said she hadn't been on any site for over a year as she is spending as much time as she can with the girls now that the boys are more or less out and gone. She said she had removed some of the pictures from her gallery here and may remove them all later on. She never even went to the Texas Cobra Clubs big get together some time back and they had a huge amount of cars there this year.

As I am sure that you all know, Joe's Father passed away Monday and they had the funeral Friday. He is home now but tired and still not feeling great, but we all know how that goes. Anyway some of you guys that live close to him might go by and see him if you have a chance. I wish that I was close enough to drop by for a few minutes and see if he needs anything that I could do.

It was a long, hot, humid weekend here and I am really tired. My cousin and his wife from Arkansas were here to visit and we went to the Kool April Nites car show Saturday. We never did see all of the cars as it was just to hot and humid and to much walking but they had a pretty huge turn out and people were still pouring in when we left just after noon. Now I see the weather people are forecasting rain for tomorrow and Thursday. Another radical change in weather. From the 50s to the mid 90s and back to the 60s in a week.

But it was fun and I saw a lot of really nice cars. Only two cobras though.

Well I guess that Summer is here now. It has been in the upper 80s the past few days and the wind is blowing that pollen around like snow. I have already mowed 4 times. I hope that the rest of you are enjoying good weather. This has been the most weird year I have ever sen here.
