Well last night we had about 3/4 inches of snow but it has actually warmed up quite a bit. It is supposed to snow more today but isn't doing so right now. They must have had Caltrans plow the streets some time last night as I see big clumps of snow across my driveway and the street is clear.

So far I have cut down 4 large branches. Cleared the driveway and the road in front of my house. The last one that I cut was the tree split from top to bottom so I am sure it is a gonner. Stupid thing twisted different than I thought so my chain on my chainsaw got stuck and broke a seer off the clutch. I will have to order a replacement part before I can finish.

Joe,
Some of those trees that split can cause all kinds of problems. We normally take an Axe and chop the split if we can get to it so we can see which way the thing is going when we cut it.
We wound up with about 4 1/2 inches of snow and then it froze last night and is hard to walk this morning as you can't break through the snow. So far I have only fallen once and it is supposed to be in the low 40s today so maybe this stuff will melt. I hope so.

Good to see that y'all are still hanging out here.
This weather has been sucking on the tapered end of a dawg turd. Been ready for Spring since the first part of October !
I've had to join with Joe in it being time to get back out to the country.
Bought a ranch down in the hill country. It's between Wimberley & Blanco and north of Canyon Lake.

Fred,
It is great to hear from you and that you have bought a ranch. Life should be much simpler there than in the rat race. It looks good from the pictures. How many acres do you have? As dumb as it sounds I wish I was back on the farms now. A lot of hard work but at least I felt good when the day was over and as if I had accomplished something.
Don't be such a stranger and keep us posted as to what you are doing.

Looks good Fred. I don't have anything like that, but I am happy. I have realized that i don't need much. I would like more land, but only because I would like my own private place to hunt. As it stands, I don't have a deer lease yet primarily because I can't afford one. Something like what you bought would be awesome.

Joe,
Just hang in there and maybe as you get things more in order you will be able to buy some more land to go with yours. Fred does have a really nice place.

What Ron said.
I'm older and retired. You have a lot of time to get where you want to end up.
You have a great place right now and you are right to be proud of it.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am not complaining. I am happy with what I have. I was just commenting that I would love to have what Fred purchased to hunt on. I love being out hunting and to have a private place to hunt where I don't have to compete with everyone else (public land) would be awesome and is a dream of mine.

Fred,
I like the Goat picture but that white one is not near old enough to compete with me. However I do like the look of intelligence he has.
You have a great place and it shold make your life much more pleasant. If my health was better I would be looking at moving back onto a farm that my cousin in Arkansas has offered to let me live on and it is just a few miles from the one that I was raised on. Do you still ride your motorcycle any?

First Christmas st the new place and we did a redneck Christmas. Went out back and shot skeet for a few hours. My wife hit right at 50% her first time ever shooting at a moving target. It was a lot of fun.

Joe,
That is great. Your weather must not be to bad. Ours was 72 yesterday. Now that you have your first Christmas in the new place, you have your first New Year coming up. Best wishes and I hope next year is even better than this year.

Weather here is in the mid to upper 20s in the morning but around 55-60 by afternoon. Yesterday was nice and sunny. A light jacket and we were comfortable shooting.

Joe,
We are having pretty nice days except for the darn wind. It blows all the time it seems and it is cold. The temperature got down to 34 last night but it is supposed to be around 60 this afternoon, and probably windy. We are still on high fire alert here which is the longest that has ever gone on up here.

Had warm weather again but yesterday a cold front came through with a lot of wind. Below freezing again. I have a small gathering of a couple of friends planned for tomorrow night. Have fireworks planned so I hope the wind dies down today like they say it will.

I hope that your weather will be nice and warm for tomorrow night's fireworks. It is supposed to be around 67 here tomorrow. If the wind will just quit.
