Ron,
Tried to post the pictures, I suck. Sent them to you so you can see I dropped a valve.

Mike,

I got the pictures ok and it looks like a mess. I hope that it isn't as bad as it looked. Do you know what caused it to drop the valve? I hope that it didn't do any major damage to the rest of the engine.

Ron,
My guess is running the higher spring pressure on 40+ year old valves? As for the rest of the motor will live, Just happy I didn't take out the block.
I have already sent the head out to be fix and i'm now in a waiting game with that.

Mike,

You got a break there if it never hurt the block. Do you run double springs?

Ron,
Yes I had double springs and I ask my machinist if the valves were ok? But I should have known better and just replaced them.
I have sent my heads to Barry at Survival Motorsports and will order a stroker kit from him....Go bigger and better!

Mike,

When you get everything back together what will your cubic inches be? Also are you going for the 800 horsepower range? I had the power in my Coupe lowered from 540 to around 495 so I will be able to run it on this crap they sell at the pumps for gas up here.

Ron,
It should be about 485 cubic inches and I'm hoping for about 600-650 on the horsepower, I also want to run our crappy gas. LOL

Mike,

You will have a lot more power than I do but you can still get better gas down there than we can here. There is one place here that did sell 95 octane unleaded with none of that Ethanol crap in it and people buy it for their garden equipment. When you get the Cobra back together why don't you take a weeks vacation and come up here? There is a lot to see and we could drive to some historical places.

Mike,

Here is a picture of my Coupe that John sent me yesterday. He just about has it ready to bring back up here.

Mike,

I am getting old and wanted something more tame than the Cobra. It has air and I had the power cut from 540 down to around 450 so it will run on the lousy pump gas we get up here. I think the dyno sheet showed about 383 horsepower at the rear wheels. I left the roll cage and fire suppression system in just in case I ever want to go to an open track day but I doubt if that will happen.

John said it really accelerates like mad and handler really well.

Joe,

How is the farm coming along? Hope your weather hasn't put you to far behind schedule. We have had quite a bit of rain here and are only about 38 inches below normal now, but that is just for this year and doesn't count the 4 previous years when we got hardly no rain at all.

Ron, thanks for asking. It's coming along. Will finish the fence up front and hang the main gate today. Installing a power gate opener that is battery powered and charged by solar that I am putting together.

I am a bit behind as we have been getting a lot of cold windy days that make it hard to work outside and the wife wanted a front porch built so that took time away from other stuff. But the fence is done garden is ready and chicken coop should be done this weekend.

Joe,

You are making great progress considering the weather and everything else. You will have to post some more pictures of the place when you get the gate and fence all finished.

Well I didn't get as much done yesterday as I should have. Got the gate hung and as I was starting on the opener, we got some drizzly rain. Think southern call in the spring. Not much to do anything but with it being only 50 degrees it made it to where you couldn't get anything done. Cold today but the winds are gone and it should remain dry.

We had a mostly dry day with some sun but it was cold and more rain due tomorow. Next month is the big car show here but I think it may be on the way out as the people running it now are running it and a lot of the peoplethat used to show up said last year that they would not come back.

That's sad about the car show. The rain yesterday wouldn't have bothered me if it would actually rain. We just get enough to make everything wet. Still have less than 1 inch for the year.

Hi, if anyone has an idea where I might find a right front fender and suspension parts for my Johnspeed Cobra, that would be great - it was damaged prior to my purchasing it : )

Thanks,
Morley

If you haven't already, you should post this over in the Talk Cobra Forum as you will get more answers there. Maybe some pictures of what it looks like now and what you need would also help.

Ron

What brand gate opener are you going to use ?

My main gate came with a Mighty Mule. Works well enough, could be a little faster though.

I have found out what you have already learned......there is always plenty of jobs to do. It's fun though.
