Bad. Higher charges when you go over certain amounts. Price per gallon triples now every 10000 used. Heat is destroying the garden.

Joe,

That is getting bad but ours is worse. I just got back from the lake and the intake towers tops are sticking about 20/30 foot above the water level. The old tail tower is sticking out by about 40 feet it looks. Our water rates have gone up for every amount and then they add a big fine for anything above 1,000 cubic feet. I just received the new rate sheet and they raised the rates for everything by 2.5% but won't say how they figure the fines. The sewer even went up to $58.40 for crying out loud. And they raised the meter reading fees by $3 even though they haven't physically read them for over a year. It is all sent in to the computer which figures the bill and I can't see any reason to keep paying a huge amount for that reading fee, and especially raising it all the time.

They say the West will keep getting hotter and dryer and the East will get colder and wetther.

Ron

Yeah you definitely have it worse. Our lakes are below 50% for the most part and some have all recreational activities closed. Lake Lavon the boat ramps end 3-400 feet from the water edge. All courtesy docks are sitting on dry land.

I would guess there would be unbelievable laws and regulation plus costs to make drilling a well an unreasonable option for Ron.
Joe,where you are it shouldn't be all that expense. Especially looking medium and long term.
That's my only choice here. My well is right at 300 feet to get down to the Edward's Aquifer.

Fred,

Well drilling here would be a waste of money even if they would let you. The ground water is so far down and not a lot of it that it would be cheaper to buy a tanker truck and go to a lake or river and pump it full. I went over to the lake yesterday and took some pictures. The tops of the intakes for the water to the power house are about 30/40 feet above the water and the old tail tower is about 40 feet out of the water. They are using one of the islands now to launch their boats from which is normally under about 40/60 feet of water when the lake is full, but now you can drive out to it and there is plenty of room to park. Also the nets they made to let down in the water to keep the bottom part cool for the fish are way down.

Joe & Fred,

I got some of the pictures of the lake posted at another site yesterday. You can see just how low the lake is and it is going down every day. The reported amount of evopration from the hot sun is amazing. Rumor is they may have to start cu ttin back on the electric power generated, but so far that is just rumor. Thay have had one generator off line for over a year now.

I'd bet the tanker truck would get you shot and buried at the water's edge.Covering you up would cost extra though.

How does that net deal work for keeping the fish cool ?

I also have three buildings with rainwater collection systems. It is amazing how much water is captured with very little rain.

Fred,

I haven't read the whole thing on the nets but they are made of some kind of material that will stop the sun from heating the water below where they are set. However they can only cover a small area and as the lake gets lower more and more warm water can come in from around the edges of them from what I have heard. I believe they try to keep them at the highest level possible and just where the water is to warm for the fish to do well.

I took the 69 Cobra up to my vets Sunday. Ran it up to 100 for a few seconds to blow it out.

Joe,

It turned over 41,576 miles when I put it in the garage. It is so dusty that I am ashamed to let people see it but with all of the dust flying around here I can't get the top cleaned and then the bottom before it is just as dusty as when I started.

There are some more pictures of it over on the other site under the Photo Gallery Forum. I believe the thread is My 69 at the vets.

I am just a sucker for the old muscle cars. Driven and imperfect just the way they were meant to be.
