Brent,

Nice to hear from you and that the kids are doing well. Boy they sure do grow up fast it seems. Do you still have your cobra?

Ron

Flipper,

The wicked question I had was; "Dad, can I take the Cobra out tonight?"

Daughter out in a Badass, fire breathing dragon...yeah that will be the hit of school talk.

Ron, we still have the Cobra. The kids would disown me if I sold it. We did sell the 911. We had it at a shop to do some work and the shop owner made too good of an offer. Those early air cooled are ridiculous now.

She doesn't wan to take it out at night, she wants to drive it to school. She loved being dropped off at school in it. Can't do it now with hauling both kids.

When she was Jacob's age she asked if the Cobra could be used as a race car. After I answered she said "OK, I will race it a couple times and give it back". After that I vowed to always have an adjustable rev limiter in that car and not show anyone how to adjust it.

She took a young eagles flight and is going through her ground school. The EAA pays for the ground school and the first flight and first flight lesson to get kids interested in flying.

So, fun(ish) story. She loves flying and she loves rides so anytime there is a full motion flight sim we have to try it. We generally have a good time, other than the incident breaking a wing off the F18 in San Diego and bruising the bone in my shoulder. The last time we were on our way back from touring out west and stopped at the SAC Museum in Lincoln. Was kind of odd when we paid and had limited choices as we paid for the upgrade and couldn't do any air combat stuff, which was backwards to us, but anyhow. We decided to fly the Extra 300 and they guy was strapping us in and Emily was pulling the straps really tight and the guy said "you don't have to have them so tight" and she said "You don't understand, I DO have to have them as tight as I can get them". He was like, "No, you won't fall out of them or anything". Then he proceeds to tell us to go full throttle and count at least 7 seconds and pull up gently, yada, yada. We were polite and waited for him to finish. He finally closes everything up and off we go. Soon as the airspeed was in the green, haul back on the stick and then do a snap roll, right off the runway. We proceeded to do inside/outside Cuban 8s, lumshevak and so on. When we get done the guy wouldn't look Emily in the eye and my wife said that when we took off that the people in the "audience" watching the cockpit camera all went "ooohhh". Not the fireworks kind of statement but the oh I am going to be sea sick kind. She said when ever we did the more violent maneuvers they all grimaced and groaned. The other girl working the other sim then stated, I think as a challenge, that she had not seen anyone shoot down an enemy plane. Had we more time we would have obliged her.

At Oshkosh and WPAFB we did the air combat sims.

Wow Brent, you have a regular fighter pilot there and she should be well able to handle the Cobra. I sold mine years ago and now have a Daytona Coupe that I changed the engine in after I got to old and stove up to race.

Ron

flipper35 03-08-2017 01:54 PM

I remember when you got your Coupe.

Ron61 03-19-2017 05:34 AM

Well I am starting to wonder if I will remember the last time I was able to drive it. This darn rain here is really making me think I am back in Washington..

Ron :(

trularin 03-22-2017 06:02 PM

Well now, just when you think winter is on its way out, it comes back.

Been in the teens past couple of nights, now they say 67 on Fri.

"But there is no global warming."

Good luck with your rain.

Tru,

We are supposed to have a whole day today without rain but it starts again tomorrow and goes right on into next week as far ahead as they have shown. Tuesday it poured as if it was going to flood. They let 40 feet out of the lake to be ready for the run off. This crap is getting old. I need a 20 acre covered building so I can take the cars for a drive if they will still run after this long Winter.

LOL - I was hoping to post a picture of my GT40 exhaust. I need a picture account.

Working on it.

Tru,

Post some pictures of your GT-40. As for a picture account you can use an Album or one of the free photo hosting sites such as Photo Bucket or Flicker.

The last three days here have been in the low 80s but the wind has blown a lot. I did get everything mowed yesterday.

Lifter Bore Groove tool

Looking for anyone that might want to rent or loan or sell (less than $140) a lifter bore groove tool. Changing out my solid lifters for hydraulic.

There appears to be a slowness to this lingering thread.

I can read my last posts here without "page".

The lounge was way more fun before Ron and Ron were forced by a collective lack of restraint (I've been guilty) to impose the current religion/politics lockdown. I was never a part of the "chat thread clique ;) " but some of the old lounge playas seem to have moseyed along when the politics/religion soapboxes were taken away. I must say I do miss the "spirited banter" sometimes. :3DSMILE:

Buzz,

Many of the members that used to post in the Lounge have left the site or just quit and aren't on any sites any more. Some have sadly passed on and others just seem to have lost interest.

I hope that all of those who have passed on are drinking ale together and sharing tales of great automotive conquests; and that those who haven't are enjoying the rewards of battles well fought and lives well lived. :)

Well, my wife went and bought a road racing baffled oil pan for me for Christmas! No more dropped oil pressure under hard acceleration! Love that woman.

How are all, y'all doing?

Ron61 01-25-2019 02:50 AM

Hey Brent,

It is good to hear from you again. I hope that everything is going well for you and the family.

My wife was certainly "on board" with the decision, and she paid for half of it, does that count?:LOL:
