Tru

A friend took his wife's car to work the other day. He stopped for gas and checked the oil. It was down 3 qts. He was amazed the oil light did not come on. It probably is broken.

When he got home, he asked his wife if she ever had the engine oil checked.

Her reply was "Don't they come with oil from the factory?"

She is about 60 and is NOT blonde.

:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

Time for a ride, but I think I'll check the oil first.

Warren

Well I did slip out for a quick run this morning as I called the guy and he wants me to bring the 69 down at 8:30 Wednesday morning so we can put it on his lift and check to see if we can find the oil drip. Also want to check that new water pump. I didn't realize it has been 6 months since I started that car and of course I flooded it and my garage looks as if someone threw in a couple of very black smoke grenades and some of it is still in the air 2 hours later. Since it was sputtering and really loading up I decided to take a chance on missing one of the phone calls and took it out and blew out all the crap. Now maybe at least Wednesday morning I can start it easily. That car has always started easy and I just let it sit to long and with that big carb. it doesn't take many mashes of the pedal to dump a ton of gas into it. It starts easier than the others and I can't remember that.

Ron - your east coast family home is for sale!

Boston Globe

NEWPORT, R.I. --A privately owned house on Newport's mansion row is for sale, a rare auction, especially for a privately owned residence.

The 30,000 sq ft estate, named Miramar, sits on an 8-acre lot with a prestigious Bellevue Avenue address and a view of the Atlantic. There's a main house, a 6,000 square-foot carriage house and a 1-acre oceanfront lot that divides the two buildings.

The house was conceived as home for transportation mogul George Widener and his wife, Eleanor, in the early 1900s. George and his son Harry, whose book collection later became the foundation of Harvard University's Widener Library, died aboard the Titanic.

Eleanor Widener also was aboard but survived the April 1912 sinking. After marrying Harvard professor Hamilton Rice, she spent two years and $1.5 million completing the estate.

The house went on to have many lives; it's been a summer home, a boarding school, a retreat and conference center for the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.

Developer Andrew Panteleakis bought the property in 1971 for $118,000. He lives onsite, but has also converted part of the main building into corporate offices.

This time around, the house is expected to sell for eight figures, according to Michael Fine of Sheldon, Good and Co., the firm in charge of the auction.

"A lot of people get to tour the mansions," he told The Boston Sunday Globe. "But only one gets to say, 'I own one. Would you like to come over for dinner?'"

The sale is "as-is," and Miramar lacks many of the amenities of a modern luxury home.

The house went on the market two years ago, but failed to sell for the $25 million asking price. Prospective buyers can tour the house and place a bid on one or all of the three properties after putting up 5 percent.

According to Fine, the highest bidder might not win. The owner might be willing to accept a lower bid to keep the three properties together.

The auction ends Nov. 3.

What steps do you guys to to post the picture without the "attached thumbnails" thing?

Ron61 10-02-2006 12:22 PM

Brent,

I either load them into my gallery or photo bucket and then link to them. If you put them in the gallery, just click on the one you want to put in the post and expand it. Under the picture will be the URL line and to the right is a button that says cut to clipboard. Click that and then go to your post and when you are ready to put in the picture just use the Edit menu and paste or the CTRL V method.

Ron :)

Brent,

Just like that and you can put more than one picture in a post that way also. Is that your Father with you?

Ron :o

flipper35 10-02-2006 12:39 PM

No, that's my old boss' dad, back in 1996 right after I got it registered. None of us look like that any more. I have some pics of ma and pa somewhere here, or I could pull them from Em's web site.

Ron61 10-02-2006 02:08 PM

Brent,

I have been looking at the pictures in the thread that Brent started, and some of the people surprised me, while others weren't to far from what I had pictured them to be. Only one thing scares me. All of them state as they have gotten older after the pictures, they have lost weight. All I have lost is hair and I have gained a ton of weight.

Ron :(

flipper35 10-02-2006 02:15 PM

Here's grandmum and papa as Em calls them. I have lost weight from this picture also.

Ron61 10-02-2006 02:27 PM

Gee, must you rub it in. I can't get a picture of me now unless they use a wide angle lens. And unless I wear a cap, they can't use the flash as it is like taking a flash picture into a glass window. :(

Ron :p

flipper35 10-02-2006 02:33 PM

Both my remaining hairs are about 1/4 inch long now so I don't have to comb either of them.

They way I look at it, loosing my hair is a positive thing. Except one night I had my picture taken outside with a flash and some national security people stopped by wondering where that large "bloom" came from on the sat pictures. :)

Re: Hair (or lack there of)

I think y'alls hair situation is because of the heathly food and life style in Ca..

I've heard that it really doesn't fall out.It retreats and comes back out in other places.:)

flipper35 10-02-2006 02:58 PM

Mine began leaving long before I moved here to California.

wtm442 10-02-2006 05:33 PM

Tru

I tried some aspirin/water on the sunflowers as you suggested. No good. I have some Vigaro plant food, but can I borrow some Viagra from you? :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

Time for the compost pile ....

Picture deleted to free up some space in my gallery ....

Well, yesterday was a wash out, so today was the 18th ride in 19 days. Getting chilly out here on the right coast. Only got up to 63 ºF today ... but with a warm hat, gloves, and keeping off the highways, it was a nice ride.

Here is a shot along Wollaston Beach about 4 miles from my house. Looking away from the ocean at a creek that flows into the ocean.

Here is a shot from a parking lot close to the Fore River Shipyard. The crane is 190 feet tall and can lift 150+ tons.

So nice a ride, I almost ran out of gas. The needle was at least 1/4 inch below the empty mark. Supposed to rain tomorrow - UGH. I'll have to do a "Tru". Work on something instead of enjoying my Cobra.:)

trularin 10-03-2006 04:39 AM

Don't need it, but I am sorry to learn you do.

trularin 10-03-2006 04:44 AM

Gee Brent, you clean up pretty good.

Good pic!

Ron61 10-03-2006 05:12 AM

:)

Warren,

You need to talk to your sun flowers. Haven't you heard that if you talk to your plants they will be happy and healthy. They are just feeling neglected. Nice pictures as usual. It is getting cool here in the mornings too and I am now wearing a long sleeve shirt. Tomorrow will be a messed up day as I have to take the 69 Cobra in early in the morning to see if we can locate that oil drip and also have the water pump checked. Will I be glad when that day is over. :JEKYLHYDE

Ron :)
