Joe,
About ten years ago we had mail stolen out of our mailbox on a regular basis. I put a lock on the mailbox (in the door, there is a place for a pad lock).
I went to the post office and closed the mailbox (Most people don't know you can do that) to not get more or duplicate junk mail.
I also opened a PO Box and have had one ever since.
I have not had a single problem since then and that was about ten years ago. Now our mailbox is closed, but the mail lady will let us mail stuff out of it just like normal.

Steve,
We have those so called cluster boxes here but they are worthless. The people that put the mail in them can't read at all. The only thing I get in mine is for people on other streets and once for some guy in Georgia. That is why I kept the post office box. Which reminds me, I have to go down and empty that thing as it fills up with junk mail and I only walk down there about once a week if that often.

Hey, the sun just came out for the first time since Christmas Day. None of the rain so far today that they are predicting. If it warms up a little I can get outside some.

It has really turned out to be a nice day today. Still some clouds but mostly sun. I went into Redding and got some dog food and a couple of other things that I need. Forecast says rain tomorrow and Friday. My weed patch that I call a yard is going to need mowing soon if it ever dries out.

None of our snow stuck and it never froze last night. Looks to be a nice day here outside, but I haven't been out since I got to work at 7:15 this morning.

Joe,
Will you quit using that nasty word WORK. You need a break for a month or so. We have had no snow and very little rain so far, but some record setting lows and quite a bit of ice.

Ron,
I fully agree with you, but the management here seems to feel that if I take that time off, they don't need to continue paying me. I don't understand it but that is what they say.

Joe,
You should at least get some time off for the Holiday. Don't let them screw you out of your vacation time like I did. We had a Needs of the service clause and it was supposed to be so in case of an emergency they could cancel vacations but the company twisted it around to stop me from taking any as they claimed I was the only one qualified on all the different computers and satellite systems, I wound up losing 15 weeks of vacation. I should have did what a guy in L.A. did and just vanish for a while. They received a call from him in Europe and he told them he would be back in 10 weeks and they could either have his pay ready or he would go back to work.

I could have taken more time off if I had asked for it, but I like to take time in the summer and go see my family in Nebraska. I have no real complaints here. I have a lot of time but that is because I have been here for 9 years and have been getting 9.23 hours of time off every 2 weeks. It adds up fast.

That sounds good to me. And taking it in the Summer is better than in the Winter. However with the weather changes I wonder what our Summer will be like next year.

Well last night was a very quite New Year night around here. It started raining around 9 PM and is still raining. Not hard but a good steady type rain. Enough to keep the noise down. I heard the siren go off for about 30 seconds and the guy up the street rang his bell for maybe a minute, Normally he dos it for about 10 minutes, and 3 firecrackers. One was close and the others in the distance. One of the quietest New Year Nights I can remember around here.

Back at you Tru and all of you have a great year. Darn, it doesn't seem that long ago that we were celebrating the change of the century, 2000.

Saturday and it is supposed to be sunny today. Boy do I hope they are correct for a change.
I thought that this article was interesting as it shows there are old things still around that haven't been found before.

Mike, Tru is used to that and when he says put on a coat he means a long sleeve shirt. Me, I would want an Arctic Parka at the very least. Cold up here means in the teens.

Mike, it was five ( 5 ) this morning, but it is going to get up into double digits.
We moved wood and took down the Christmas lights. There are mice in my utility barn, I had to put out the DeCon. They got into three sack of grain. I suppose I'll have to move all of the grain into a storage bin.
Not at 5 degrees!
Keep warm.

Tru,
It is sunny here this morning and is supposed to get up to 60° this afternoon. That will be a welcome relief from the cold, damp weather we have has the past few days.
