Tommy,
Several places seem to be having snow or more of it than usual. So far we haven't had a flake here but a lot of rainy days where it is more of a drizzle than rain. They have gotten quite a bit of snow up in the mountains.

Tommy,
Ground accumulation is a rarity here also, so getting a foot of snow is a real big deal. Largest snow since 1978. We set the record for snow fall in a 24 hour period and also set the record for snow fall in a calendar day.

Joe,
Tru must be laughing like crazy about all of this. But your snow will probably be gone in a few days and he still has a couple of months to look forward to. I was reading an article in the news that the South is paralyzed by a few inches of snow and the Northern States have several feet of it.

I figure my predictions are at least as good as the professional weather guessers, so I'm predicting I'll get a grand total of about one inch of snow when it's all over. And unless the roads are still wet when the temperature drops tonight, the roads will be about the same as after any light rain event. The professional weather guessers were predicting a winter armageddon and every school and government office in the region closed today. What a waste.

Tommy,
Out here they can't even look out the window and get the weather correct. I think they must have the weather people in a basement. Three days ago we had clear skies and sun and they kept saying all day that it is really raining out there. A great job when you don't have to even be correct at any time.

I received this in an e-mail along with about five other states included but it is to long to cut and paste so I just took the top two states.
You can retire to Phoenix , Arizona where.....
1. You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found shade.
2. You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.
3. You can drive for 4 hours in one direction and never leave town.
4. You have over 100 recipes for Mexican food.
5. You know that "dry heat" is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door.
6. The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!
You can retire to California where...
1. You make over $250,000 and you still can't afford to buy a house.
2. The fastest part of your commute is going down your driveway.
3. You know how to eat an artichoke.
4. You drive your rented Mercedes to your neighborhood block party.
5. When someone asks you how far something is, you tell them how long it will take to get there rather than how many miles away it is.
6. The 4 seasons are: Fire, Flood, Mud, and Drought.

Ron,
Most of it did melt off yesterday. The biggest reason a foot cripples us is we don't have snow plows and only a limited number of trucks to sand (no salting done here) the bridges and intersections. They only have enough to do the main highways and streets. Any side street or road is left to fend for themselves, as the snow or ice melts before they can get to it.

Joe,
We haven't had snow plows here for 20 years. The city has to get CalTrans to plow the main boulevard if we ever have enough snow to cover it. About 14 years ago we had almost 3 feet of heavy, wet snow and every tree and many buildings around here collapsed. It took two weeks to get the streets where we could drive in them as CalTrans was busy in the mountains trying to get I-5 open. Finally some of the ranchers around here that had tractors with front end loaders brought them and cleared the streets and parking lots.

Steve,
Are you sure that you are still in Texas? It is very overcast here today and seems to be getting colder the later it gets. Rain forecast for tomorrow. I need a couple of Goats to put in my yards as they are really getting bad, but it will be to wet to mow them for another month.

It was damned cold last night Steve. down to about 2 inches of snow now in my yard but it is getting patchy. Grass is showing on the edges and starting to poke through elsewhere as well. The weight of it partially collapsed the top horizontal pole, so it is sagging down now. When it all melts off and dries up, I will have to get out there and fix that so he has shade when the summer comes.

On another note, Kroger actually had good tomatoes and good habanero peppers so I made salsa today.

Great list.
I went to Arizona in the summer. People were going to hell to get away from the heat, dry or other wise.
It is a mild 27 outside.

Arizona is a great place to visit. Just practice waking inside the cone of an active volcano for a few days and you will be ok.
Edit: Just received this and I thought that some of you may not have seen it yet.

Back and done for the day. I had to get out in my sloppy, wet yard and use the weed eater to cut a path so my little dogs can get off the porch. My boots just sank into the ground it is so wet and soggy. I need to do the front yard, but doing the back was enough work in this weather for one day.

You had to post that link.
I enjoyed the sixties, but it was the seventies that did me in.
Thanks Ron.

Don't feel bad True. I think the 0060s did me in. Boy, am I tired of being cooped up in the house the past three weeks. It rains just enough that I can't get out and do anything. I did force myself to use the weed eater yesterday and knock down the high grass along the porch so the dogs can get off of it. And was I a soaked mess when I got that stuff cut.

You know that does not count as a shower. You still have to take one on Saturday.

The "'Wayback Machine"...
Remember a few years back, a teen-aged kid ("David' comes to mind?) who was a Cobra wannabe, such a likeable young lad that someone here gave him a ride in a Cobra.
A Yankee, as I recall.
Whatever happened to him? I have been... away... for some time.
I sent him an original 45 single of "Hey Little Cobra" for his trophy wall.
This was back in '04, maybe '05.
Yeah I am gettin' old.
So are you.
