Well at least this weird weather has helped the lakes a lot. But I did see they say the snow pack is still below what it should be. They got quite a bit and then we would have some hot days and a lot of it would melt. The downpour and hail Monday sure ruined some gardens around here. My roses are really beat all to pieces.

In the mid to upper 70s here and through the weekend it could get into the high 80s. But they are forecasting showers for Monday. Right now the wind is blowing and the pollen is flying.

Friday finally. Nice weekend ahead and a dreadful week starting Monday. It is supposed to have scattered showers and wind, but that I will wait and see about.

Monday I go in for the final check of my left eye, then Tuesday morning early they will do the right eye and I have to go back Wednesday for the day after surgery check. Then again on the 25th for the final check of the right eye if it is dong well. I had to go in 6 times on the left eye as I was on some kind of study they are doing on cataracts and picked 400 people across the country to be in the study.

Ah, it is Sunday and has been in the mid 80s with some humidity the past three days but they say a chance of rain tomorrow. I mowed the yards yesterday as that is the last time for a few weeks I will be able to. Tomorrow I go in for my last eye check on the left one and Tuesday morning they do the surgery on the right eye so I won't be able to get out in the heat and sun for a week or so. Boy, will I be glad when this is all over and both eyes have healed. Then I have to get new glasses. But at least I will have it done before the real heat gets here.

Ron,
We hit the 90s over the weekend, but Friday was a bit of a scare for me. I took the day off to run some errands and as I was getting back into Lavon, Thunderheads started rolling in fast. I was watching the clouds as I always to when it gets like that and I saw 2 tornadoes start to form within 5 minutes of each other, but they dissipated before touching down. The conditions were right, but the storm was just shy of the strength needed to form tornadoes. The weird part as this was a storm moving north to south and they are very rarely strong enough to produce rotation, let alone a funnel cloud dropping to earth.

Joe,

It sounds as if you dodged a bullet there. It is hot and humid here and very dusty already. We have been in the upper 80s lately with a humidity or heat index of the mid 90s. And they say this summer is going to be one of the hottest in a long time. Last Summer we had several days of 115+ with humidity that made it into the 120/126 range. They had to shut down all outside work for a week or so and work at night when they could. Hopefully my eyes will both be well on the way to fully recovered before the real heat hits.

Planted more trees, one over Yukon's grave.

It has been nice enough I was able to take the cobra out for a quick spin. The roads are so bad, I lost my will to drive on them.

Dang, what is up with the news? Is everyone strange getting their two cents in?

Tru,

Are your roads full of pot holes or what? Around here we have streets that no one will hardly drive on they are so bad. A small car could fall into one of the pot holes and go missing for days. Even I-5 has some bad places in it in just the 10 miles from here to Redding. I fear that the whole infrastructure of the country is starting to show its age. A few days ago they were showing rust on the Golden Gate Bridge from places they didn't have the money to paint.

More and more roads here are being turned over to private companies and they become toll roads. All highways, but the state doesn't have the money to fix it. All the toll roads are nice and well maintained.

Joe,

That may come to be the norm in many states. It would take far more money than this state has just to bring everything back into passable shape. I saw a report on the bridges in the state some time back that Cal Trans did and they rate them 1 to 10 with 10 being great. Over 90% of them were at 4 or below. They said that when they get down to 2, there is danger of collapse. They just spent over a year patching the big Pit River Bridge here that I-5 crosses one arm of Shasta Lake on because it had holes in it so big that small cars had to try to steer around them. Kind of unnerving to drive across it and look down through the road at the lake.

Yea, it is very frustrating that roads we have already paid for become toll roads. That really chaps my ass!.

yea, yea, I know they need to be maintained but .......

No political comments here.

Hope everyone is doing OK. I have been sooooo busy. I barely have time to sleep.

Joe,
What is the latest greatest phone? I dropped mine again, it is about time to replace it anyway. I have had this one for well over ten years. I have Internet, texting and all that other crap on my service but never use it because the phone I have now does not do all that. I got this service plan because of the unlimited minutes on the calling. I have Sprint service.

Maybe you should get one with a cord to hang around your neck.

Well the surgery is over now and I have to wait a couple of months for everything to settle in and adjust.

Yes Ron, there are plenty of pot holes. We have dirt roads, so a grader needs to scrap the dirt.

Good luck with your recovery.

Thanks Tru,

The surgery went well and now I have to wait for the two new lens to adjust and get all cleared up. No driving for a few days, and my neighbor that has been taking me in will take me in this afternoon for the day after check. I doubt if your dirt roads are any worse than out used to be paved streets. Now people try to0 stay on the dirt and avoid what chunks of pavement is left on some of the streets around here. They last paved the one that I live on in 1969 and it is really bad.

You want another phone when you keep dropping the one you have now !

I think your wife should take that one away from you until you can show her you will start taking care of your stuff.

Yeah,new phone my ass.

I dropped the phone about five years ago for the first time. At that time it was about five years old.

The other day I was in Lowes and an employee was chasing someone out the door who had stolen some stuff. I was between the door and the crook. I just side stepped a little to get out of the way and the guy bumped into me as he was going out the 'in' door.

I could have cared less about the phone because my children were right behind me. I was more worried they would be a target for this dumb-ass that had stole something from the store.

They tackled his ass in the parking lot and sat on him until the police showed up.

Yea, the phone was the last thing on my mind at the time. If all I loose is a cheap phone.... I won!

If you had AT&T I would suggest the Mil-Spec phone line that we have. That way you could drop it and not worry about it. Seriously though for Sprint, I would suggest the Moment. It is running the Android 2.1 software, slide out full keyboard, very good display, 3.2 Megapixel camera. Full featured and all of the Android (Droid as commercials commonly call it) apps that are available. Last time I checked (about a month ago) there were over 27,000 apps available of which about 1/2 are free.

I have looked at a few, the problem I have with most of them is the numbers are so small I can't see them to tell if I am dialing the right number.

I suppose that is why I have hung on to this one so long. I have the insurance if it breaks they replace it no questions ..... hmmmm (did anyone see the light come on?

Thanks Joe, I'll check into it.
