Well the rain has finally stopped here for the next two days but is supposed to return Saturday, Christmas Day. They are upping the amount of water they let out of the lake as it is only 44 feet from the top and they have let more out a couple of times to keep it at that level. If we should get a warm rain and it melts a lot of the snow in the mountains, then Redding could be in for some flooding.

Wow, it is from one extreme to the other up there.
It'll be OK Ron. They will just let a lot more water out of the dam

Steve,
They have already upped the amount they are letting out and may have to up it even more if the expected rain hits Saturday. Especially if it melts a lot of the snow in the mountains. They have to be careful to not over load Keswick Dam which is between Shasta and Redding. And if Keswick lets out to much it will flood the Park Marina area of Redding which is very low and close to the river.

Well I hope that all of you made it through Christmas in good shape and got everything that you wanted. It rained pretty hard here most of the day so there wasn't a lot to do.
Take care and look forward to New Years and be safe.

Hey Ron ... hope you had a great Christmas ! They were calling for rain here last night and today ... we are getting snow instead ! Normally we see that stuff here maybe once every 10 years , but last year we got 6 inches and so far this year , we have an inch and it`s still coming down . The good thing is it isn`t sticking to the roads .

Bob,
It rained pretty hard here all day Christmas Day and the day after. Then yesterday we had no rain but very little sun, about 15 minutes of it. It is raining again this morning but not hard. I am starting to feel as if I am living in the Olympia Rain Forest. Trees are covered with moss and so is most of my yard.
I think some of the snow you are getting may be from the first storm that went through out here. The weather map showed it was going to go all the way across the country and head North as it approached the East Coast.
Have a good one and enjoy the New Years parties.

Well, no rain this morning but it is 28° and there is ice all over. Not a lot of traffic around here the past day or so. I guess that will change tomorrow as it will be New Years Eve. and all of the parties will be going.
I have been watching the news and pictures from New York. Am I happy that I don't live back there now. The rain here gets tiresome, but I will take that over the snow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL 0F YOU.
It looks as if ours is going to be cold and maybe wet as they are fore casting rain tomorrow. It is 27° here this morning. I saw the snow pack in the Sierras has more than twice the water content that is normal for this time of year so maybe next summer won't be so bad for the farmers.

Well here it is the first day of 2011 and it is snowing here. Not a lot this low as my yards are just white where the house and trees doesn't block it, but I bet up in the mountains it is coming down pretty good. Our forecast is for rain today, but you can't go on that as they are hardly ever correct. Anyway all of you have a great day and remember this is 1-1-11. I am sure some of the conspiracy theorists will manage to come up with something about that.

Darn Fred,
I must have missed the announcement about that. We had a Van lowering here as some woman drove off into the river while trying to park. No damage to her but the van had some from hitting the rocks and water. Have a great 2011.

SUN!!! We have sun for this whole week if the forecast is correct. It was all the way up to 54° yesterday and is supposed to reach 61° tomorrow. Maybe now my yards will dry out enough I can walk in them without my wader boots. Hope everyone else is having great weather.

Mike,
We have had sun all week and it is supposed to be 61° this afternoon. The nights are still cool with it being from 26 to 30 degrees. But now I see they are forecasting rain here for the weekend. I have nothing high enough to cut as the moss has stopped even the weeds from growing.
