Hi Liisa,
It has been a long time since we have heard from you. Hope that everything is going well for you and the boys.
It was 80° here yesterday and I spent most of the day mowing and cleaning up limbs the wind had blown into my yards. Today I hope to finish all of that. It is already very dusty around here.

Been really busy at work for me. 11-12 hour days and still going. It is a lot of stress and pressure but the cause of the extra work is actually an opportunity for me to shine in front of new upper management. I have been selected to be the onsite device support for Samsung at the Google IO conference in San Francisco next week. If I make everything go smooth, it will be a big shiny gold star for me. Always a good thing when you have a new VP who feels that we have too much fat and is laying people off.

Joe,
Congratulations. It sounds as if you have a good chance to really make some advancement.
Mike,
It is hot here and very humid. It was 89° yesterday with a heat index of 97°. And now they are predicting rain for Saturday. Darn these radical temperature and weather changes.

I am hoping it will really pay off for me. I don't expect anything immediate from it, but I see it as a chance to show my true worth and as all the Reorg is happening, I may be able to position myself for a future advancement.

Joe,
Best of luck. I hope that everything goes well for you. Just remember you are in San Francisco and don't act normal or they will think you area freak.

So today for Cinco De Mayo we had a Salsa and Queso contest at work. I figured I have to enter mine since I am the only one who regularly brings it up here and it won by a landslide. There were 6 entries total and I took over 2/3s of the votes. I was pretty proud of it.

Whew, this jar of Salsa is Hell fire hot. Don't know why they are so different. It is the same batch from the same pot.

Ron,
That jar was one of my older Ball jars and I think the lid didn't seal too well. It is the only jar so far that was that hot. Since I do not use preservatives, when opened to the air, the salsa gets hotter and hotter. I didn't open the jar itself, so I am not 100% sure it fully sealed and it sat for 2 weeks before being eaten.

Darn Joe,
Just think what it would have been like if it had set for 5 weeks. The jar may have melted.

Wow what a first day here in San Fran. Crazy busy unpacking devices all day. I had a 12 hour day getting ready for the conference that starts tomorrow. The best news is that the customer has already told the Project Manager for these devices that I was awesome today. Our competitors that also have giveaway devices didn't send a service specific guy like me so they were lost and didn't offer any support. I spent the whole day supporting their part, and actually saved my stuff until the last item of the priority device. Once it was completed, I stayed and continued to assist them on the next device that I did not have any requirements to support (even though it is one of our devices as well). I overheard one of the event coordinators say that it was a shame that none of the other manufacturers were even close to knowing what to do to please a customer. So it was definitely noticed. All in all, I made the most of the opportunity to make Samsung look good in front of a customer that I have never been face to face with before.
Now I am exhausted and ready to just crash.

Joe,
I second what Tru said. To be noticed that much at one of those events makes it really special. Congratulations an doing so well.
