At 10:35 last night our thermometer still read 101*. I don't believe that though, maybe it was the ground still radiating the days heat. Then I looked at the digital readout on my cell phone and it read 100*.
Hard to believe it is still 100 at almost 11:00PM around here.
We are having a cold spell the past three days with it just getting into the mid to upper 80s. And believe it or not I see people wearing light jackets in the mornings until the sun gets up. Two weeks ago at 3 AM it was 98° here and just got hotter as the sun came up.
Hope everyone is doing OK and staying cool. Dang it is hot outsiide. Maybe I am just getting soft, but I don't remember it being this hot when I was a kid. LOL
I read an article on the heatwave this morning and it made me laugh. It was for the midwest from Oklahoma to North Dakota and east to Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. The article was talking about how bad the heat is and saying that most of those states will have at least 5 days this week at 90° or higher with some baking at over 100°. I just had to laugh. We have been over 100° for 2 weeks now.

Nothing over here Steve, so I pulled up the radar and it looks like a tiny spot of rain over there where you are. I hope it grows and more areas get the rain. We need it.

It's still early morning here but I seem to remember a situation earlier this year where that would have come in pretty handy.
I major winter storm blew in and it wasn't long until it developed into a blizzard with the attending white out conditions. If I remember correctly this went on for what seemed like days & days.
When it finally blew through and I was able to venture out to check on all the damage, there must have been 1-2 inches heaped up along the gutters on the street.
Yes it was nice this morning. A check on the temp says it is 94°. About time to break out the jackets. We did get a little rain in Lavon. According to my neighbor it rained for 8 minutes. Street didn't stay wet very long though as it wasn't enough to cool the concrete so it evaporated fast.

Well our cool spell is coming to an end this week. It was nice while it stayed in the upper 80s but the humidity made it kind of miserable to work outside much. Now we will soon be heading into our normal 110+ temperatures if the forecast is correct.
Back to the heat. Dang it is like 20 or 21 days in a row it has been over 100*.
Normally it would not be bad because the 100* days are spread out but this is killing all the trees in the community here. We have lost many 150 year old trees.
I'll bet you can fry an egg on the sidewalk. Does anyone remember in 1980 when they did that on the news on day during that heat wave?
