Paul,

Get some spare money and that will most likely take care of the ticked off wife so you will have eliminated two of your problems.

Question

Hi guys,

Anything new going on? If we don't start getting rain and snow in the mountains here next summer could be a disaster for everyone. The lake is dropping fast and there is no snow on the mountains. Last month we had a whole 3/4ths of an inch of rain.

Still dry here too Ron. Lakes are low, it is cold the last few days but no snow or rain. North, West and South of us got snow, but not us.

The lakes here are back up to just 1 foot low. That is the best it has been in about a year. Maybe a little longer I cannot remember. It started last year when we had so many days in a row over 100*. The lake levels were lowered to help the folks downstream a little who were having some real drought issues.

It has been cold around here but not real bad. We turned the heater on in the house for the first time this season yesterday. This house has about 4 feet of insulation in the attic and it has been comfortable inside so far, but it got a little nippy yesterday morning.

Well our last two days have been overcast, sprinkling just enough to get you wet, a little wind, and just plain cool and miserable if you have to get outside. And just 3 days ago I mowed the lawn. I have never seen a Winter like this one here. It will probably snow in April or May.

19 this morning. The friggin truck battery died after 9 years.

What is this world coming to when a truck battery will not make it 10 years.

I have reached the transition age. I no longer look at something with no thought as to its future. I now look at something from the "time left" point of view.

You know...you can purchase a bunch of things with this in mind.

Hope all of you are well.

Tru,

I have been doing that for a long time now. I just don't care for the stuff that lasts a year or so and then falls apart.

Joe,

They announced yesterday that the water rations to the farmers and others was going to be cut by 50% this coming summer. Less water to grow food, higher prices. They also announced that our utility bills will be increasing by 25% for Electricity, 18% for Water, and $19% for Sewer. I don't know how a lot of people are going to pay that here as many are now paying their utility bills by so much a month and still falling farther behind. There is no reason what so ever for these huge increases except the greed of our city council.

Ron

I just wish that they would figure out you can't tax your way out of it.

Joe,
Your right, but that is a pipe dream.

Not trying to get political here, but everyone needs to get out and Vote. This will be the most important election of our lifetime.

Yea I know it is a pipe dream. I am just bitter from our taxes being raised this year. First thing the city council voted on was to raise city taxes. It was part of the water conservation bill before the city. Bugs the crap out of me how they do that. If it doesn't have anything to do with water conservation, it should not be allowed in the water conservation bill. I think that every last one of them are crooked.

Tru,

There won't be any watering of lawns allowed this summer unless something drastic happens. I saw yesterday that the 2/3 feet of snow they have where they should have 30 feet is only about 30% of the normal water content on top of that. When it melts most of it won't even make it down the mountain to the river because it will soak into the ground. Kind of early to panic but some people around here are already stock piling bottled water and canned food and stuff that will last for a log time without having to be refrigerated. So far the only thing I have been stock piling is ammunition.

Well for the first time this Winter we have had some rain for two days in a row. I believe they said the total was about 2 inches. Not much but at least it has settled the dust for now. It is time for a freeze as everything around here is in full bloom including the fruit trees. It is strange to have pollen problems at this time of year but a lot of people have been going to the doctors because of the pollen. Even the bees are out gathering pollen.

Hey Joe,
Was that on your street where they dug up that live WW II mortar round out of someone's backyard ?
They weren't too sure if it was a live round while they were digging it up but they sure found out soon afterwards when they blew it up.

Sucker looked to be 6-8'' in diameter.

Fred,
It wasn't right where I live. The news said it was a vacant house so I am not real sure where it was. They did not mention the street.

It is amazing that they are finding World War 11 stuff all over. There never was a military base up here, but a year or so ago some farmer down at Cottonwood, about 15 miles South of here called the police because he had found something in one of his fields and they in turn called the military. It was an old World War 11 bomb and I think it was a 200 pound one. They just blew it up where it was and then he had to haul dirt to fill in the crater. There is no record they can find of them ever having even shipped any munitions through that area or stored any there.
