Joe,
How is the ranch coming along and did you get your old house sold ok? How is your weather there? It is weird here as we have cool nights and hot days and absolutely NO rain. Wells are going dry and the fire alert is still in the red zone. And we have had wind like you can't belived.

Had to get a new ride for the ranch. Amazing what this thing will go over and through.
Sits three across. Me,the dog in the middle and Josh up front. Josh's fiancee doesn't scream too much riding in the cargo area if I warn her about the big bumps.

Fred,
That is a good looking ride. My cousin in Arkansas has a couple that he uses when they have ice and snow to get to his cattle and ponds to chop holes through the ice so they can drink.
It sounds as if you are really enjoying the ranch life and I am happy to hear that as it will take a lot of stress away from you.
Take care and keep in touch more often. I have sent you a couple of emails and ever received a reply so I figured you may have changed your email address.

Tonus,
What kind of error did you get? In Windows 7 I get kicked off the Internet completely every once in a while when trying to post to this site. Never a problem when I use my XP computer.

Ron,I should have done this a long time ago. I feel really at home there.
It sits off FM 32 which is also known as The Devil's Backbone. It has a long history besides being a beautiful ride for cars and motorcycles.Lots of turn, twists and elevation changes.

Here is some of what it is also known for........

My house sits on a hill with a valley on three sides. I can see FM 32 wandering by in the valley below on the south side.

Fred,
That is great and it sounds as if you have a great place. I really enjoy the scenery even though it is dry like out here now. You even sound better than you have for a long time and the Todd Snider album was great. When I was a kid I couldn't wait to get off the farms and all that work and now I would love to be able to move back to one. I would also like to drive along that Devils Backbone as I bet there are some really interesting places to see. Joe is really enjoying his ranch and is eager to get the old house sold and may be able to buy some more land one of these days. You my friend are a very fortunate person.

Fred,
How does your temperatures run there? So far we are having the driest months in history here and they are talking water rationing. It will get down to around 28 some nights and back into the upper 60s and mid 70s during the day. And the wind blows almost every day which really helps the fire situation, but everything is so dry now that all the wind would do is spread any fire faster.

The last couple of days it has sucked on the tapered end of a dawg turd.
Dry,thankfully,but COLD.
Real roller coaster.
Southerly wind returns tomorrow, ,bringing warmer weather.
70's Friday & Saturday.
Josh and I are driving down to the beach this weekend. Spend a night or two at the beach house. Then pull a new John Deere tractor along with several implements back to the ranch. Was able to get a good price of a package deal including trailer in a small town west of Corpus Christi.
Gonna be a fun weekend.

Fred,
That sounds great. And the tractor is a good one. We had some of them when I was working on ranches between semesters at college and they ran forever. I wish I had a small one now with a blade and backhoe attachment. Have fun.

Record Python killed in Florida,
This is the kind of thing that would make me want to stay away from there. I have read some articles that they may be starting to migrate toward Louisiana and other southern States.

Picked the tractor up last Saturday morning and we got it back to the ranch by 2 PM. Got it and the 2 unattached implements off the trailer. Switched out the rotary cutter for the box blade. Super easy and fast to switch out rear implements.
By 3 pm we were grading, leveling and smoothing a dirt road. That was a load of fun. I'm a big believer in box blades now.
Pretty sure most everyone would enjoy a tractor.

Fred,
I drove tractors of all kinds when I was younger and working my way through college and on dairy farms. I always liked to drive them and especially the bulldozers. You have the start to a great life of relaxation and fun there. Congratulations.

Hey Mike,
Great to hear from you and I hope everything is going well with you. Now Fred will have to get a larger truck so he can have a big backhoe.

Mike,
What did you break on the Cobra? John has my Coupe pretty well sorted out. Just a few minor things to go and it should be ready.
