Heading out for a five hour run to the northern part of Michigan.
I'm trying to have a Mini-vacation.
Hope you all stay cool this weekend. I think I will try to check in.

It has been raining a lot here in the "hills." Finally, two days after I repaired the vacuum advance to the HEI ignition, I could get out -- performance improved greatly -- several new paving jobs give local roads a lift - enjoyed the afternoon.

You said "You know what "sigalert", "PCH", and "the five" mean."
PCH must be Pacific Coast Hyw and the 5 is Rte 5.
What is sigalert? Something to do with heavy smog?

No. Snarled traffic conditions, also bumper-to-bumper SLOW traffic. Named for Edmund Sigg, possibly a traffic announcer on the radio; (I know the last name is close, first name probably is wrong, and his occupation probably is wrong as well!)

Ron,
I got all but Three, WTM442 A sig alert is a traffic jam of a hour or more and the 5 is interstate 5.

Hey, you all did well on that. We are having a short spell of nice weather. Only 101 yesterday with not so much humidity. I went over to the Harley place and looked at motorcycles. After they got through laughing at an old fart like me asking about them, they then tried to sell me one that cost as much as a new car. Just for kicks I showed them thjisb picture of wht motorcycles and cars should not mix.

Josh had a new adventure yesterday. He got to go up in a 1928 Great Lakes Bi-Plane !
They took off from a little airstrip here on Mustang Island.Went over Saint Joe Island, owned by the Bass brothers. There is a US WW II submarine that sunk there during the war that is visible from the air.Back over Port Aransas and the WW II Gun Batteries, the Lighthouse, jetties and ship channels, the WetLands,Corpus Christi Bay,up & down the beach and thenover our beach house.
If you notice, the plane is painted in it's original "Gulf Oil Colors". Like the GT-40.
Several more pictures in my gallery.
Josh climbing in.

Warren,
Both the car and motorcycle are for sale cheap.
Fred,
Great pictures and I bet Josh had a ball. Now take him and let him do some diving down to some of the old wrecks if they allow that there. I have been to some of the Pacific Islands where there are still old tanks, guns, and ships that were sunk during the invasions and it was really interesting to see that and think of all the people who gave their lives to take those small rocks away from the Japs. Also went through some of the Japs Costal Gun positions and the tunnels they had dug between them. Wish I could go back and spend more time going through all of the old battle sites.

Warren,
Just 104 here yesterday and not much humidity so it was a pleasant day. I did start the car but just didn't have the courage to go out and sweat for 50 or 60 miles. If I had anyone around here that would go with me, I would drive up to Lassen Park and spend some time in the snow. It is just a 40 minute drive unless you get caught behind trucks or motor homes on the way up the mountain. Very few passing places and very irritating to drive for miles at 30 MPH.

I found one of those tacky 'air fresheners' you hang from your rearview mirror in the shape of- you guessed it- a pink thong. Hung it in the cobra, and everytime I walk in the garage I wonder what is that smell?? Everytime I go 'oh yeah, it's that thong thang!'
Haven't stuck my new little sticker on yet, but I will.
Too hot to drive around here! 102, 103* +/-. ugh. I've spent a good bit of time scrapbooking. Peter left yesterday afternoon for a 'stifling I'm sure' hike east of Dallas about 2 hours- full backpack and hiking boots. He leaves for Philmont in a little over a week!!!
The temp. won't be nearly as hot in New Mexico as it is here. (at the altitude they'll be at)

Kristen,
You should never buy USED air freshners, especially that kind.

Fred,
Great addition to Kristen's collection. Now if we can just find some used tops we should be able to have her garage in a class of it's own. Are you buying them for her?
