Warren,
I saw a picture and piece in todays paper here that they are trying to kill some kind of weed that is a direct off shoot of star thistle before it takes over the area. I think all of the rain and now the record heat have caused the star thistle to mutate. How anything can grow in this heat is beyond me.
Tru,
Now you know that if I could control the weather we would all have it made. Flip and Ernie in Hawaii would be jealous of our weather.

Ron, you get the weather machine working, you need to make Flip and Erine green with NV.
well, I've had enough of work, think I'll run home and work there.

Big article on page 2 of Boston Globe today.
Searing heat keeps grip on Calif. Takes up half the page. Mentioned 119 in Woodland Hills on Saturday. Then on page 3 there was big article about wildfires near San Diego.
Lets see .... hummmmmm ... fires and heat in California ... snipers in Indiana ... killers in Arizona .... only one dead in the Big Dig tunnel. Guess I'll stay here and pray for everyone else.
Temp has dropped 2º in about an hour. Might have to get a jacket for tonites ride. Think I'll visit the Wal-Mart cruise. Put on by a local Corvette club, so my car draws a lot of attention.
Had a lot of fun Thursday. Passed a parked Corvette about 2 PM and set off the alarm. It was the loudest car alarm I have ever heard. Of course, the noise chaged tunes every 10 seconds or so. I pulled over and listened to it while laughing - and it finally stopped in 5 minutes and nobody came by to check on it. So what would any red-blooded Cobra owner do? Drove around the block and went by it in second gear at 3500 RPM. Heavenly sound interupted by a parked Corvette squeeling and crying WAAAAAAA. But I'm really sick, so after driving around for another 30 minutes ... I drove by again ... and the Corvette was gone. Pissed me off.
Tru said - well, I've had enough of work, think I'll run home and work there.
My God, work at work and work at home. I'm getting dizzy. Ron, help me please. I can't talk all those 4 letter words. I've got the vapors....

Warren,
Tru really has it rough. I bet he wouldn't be rushing out to work here today. In keeping with the heat theam, here is an e-mail that I received from a man I know who lives in Arkansas.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN ARKANSAS IN JULY WHEN. . .
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out
of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade
instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty
good branding iron.
The temperature drops b elow 95 and you feel a little
chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to
steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your
car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside
at 7:30 a.m.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get
knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook
to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to
do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them
from laying boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.
Ah, what a place to call home. . . God Bless Our State!!!

And now this as I read in the paper yesterday that we weren't going to have any power problems. I notice they left Redding and this areas temperatures out of the list. It is always about 3 to 6 degrees hotter here than in Redding and we also get a lot more rain than Redding because of being so close to the lake and sort of in the canyon. When Redding was 116 we were at 119.

Just got back from a cruise night. About 125 cars.
Temp now about 73 ºF. If I stayed there any longer, I would have needed a jacket for the ride home. Weather Channel predicts temp between 75 and 85 for the next 10 days. Nice .......
Time for supper .... left over chicken or left over meat loaf. Hummmmmm .... how about a little of each.
Tru - stop working so hard. You are making me sweat!

Warren,
Well it was just 82 at 4 AM but so humid that I felt as if I had walked into a steel mill blast furnace when I opened the door. Man, am I ever going to have an electric bill this next month, but it is so hot and humid that you can't sleep at night unless the air is on. They say it should drop down to around 105 by Friday. I hope they are right. I am just really tired of staying inside all day, but in this heat my nerves won't take more than a few minutes outside. More people dropping and being taken to the hospitals because of the heat and heat strokes.

WOUNDED IN BATTLE
A U.S. Marine squad was marching north of Basra when they came upon
an Iraqi terrorist, badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite
side of the road was an American Marine in similar but less serious
state.
The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to
both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.
The Marine reported, "I was heavily armed and moving north along
the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We
saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road.
"I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein is a miserable, lowlife,
scumbag, and he yelled back that Senator Ted Kennedy is a
good-for-nothing, fat, left wing liberal drunk. So I said that Osama
Bin Ladin dresses and acts like a frigid, mean spirited woman!"
He retaliated by yelling, "Oh yeah? Well so does Hillary Clinton!"
"And, there we were, standing in the middle of the road, shaking
hands, when a UN truck hit us."

All the way up to 73 ºF here at 8:30 AM. I feel your pain. I hate the really hot weather too, especially when the dewpoint gets to 70 ºF.
Therefore, in your honor, I think I'll go for a ride this morning before it get too hot. They predict 86 ºF for the afternoon, but not too much humidity.
Instead of the New, New Chat Thread, maybe we should rename it to the Weather thread!
Time for breakfast ... then a ride

Warren,
re:weather thread - I do miss getting the first hand weather reports on this thread when the site goes down.
Suppose to be mostly cloudy here on the South Texas coast today. Coming from a low pressure area down in the Bay of Compeche,Mexico. They think there is a slight chance of it developing into a low level Tropical Storm after it moves further north.
No big deal.
Fixing to head down to our floating dock and do a little morning fishing. I'm positive there are a couple of Trout calling my name.

Warren,
Instead of going for a ride in my honor, come get me and take me with you. I do believe the fiberglasss has started to melt on my car.
Fred,
Just how long are you going to stay on vacation? I think I should do what a friend of mine did and buy a small place in Alaska for the Summers. He left before the hot weather hit and won't be back until after it is gone. Next year that drag on his pickup going up there will be my car hooked on behind. No reason for both of us to have to buy gas for the trip.
Tru,
Hope that your storms aren't anything bad. But as much as I got tired of the record rains here last Winter, I would love to see a cold front come through. Anything below 100 would be cold now and have people wearing long sleeve shirts and jackets.

Nice whale Fred, at least you were having fun.
Ron, I heard it was cooling off over at your place...might be down to 110. Better put on a sweater. Try to stay cool buddy, it can't last forever.
Warren is out taking pictures...again.

Fred,
Are you going to have that catfish stuffed and mount it on your wall?
Tru,
I don't know if it is ever going to get down below 110. The forecast said down to 107 Friday, but I will believe that when it happens. It was already 103 at 10:30 this morning and I could almost stand and watch the thermometer rise.

Fred - have fun. I took a little vacation last year in a 40 foot motorhome. The vacation was over way too fast - only 3.5 months worth driving down to Fla keys and back.
Tru - stop whatever you are doing cuz I know its work.
Ron - I'll be over in a while. Turn up the AC. Its 75 ºF outside here, and have nowhere to go ... so I guess I'll have to go for a couple of hours riding around and using up all that cheap gas.

Okay Warren, yes it's work. But, I have mouths to feed and Cobras to fix.
RON!! I have seen a thermometer like that!
Gas is around $3.25 TO $3.33 FOR PREMIUM. I suppose I am going to be one of the first people to try E85 in my Cobra. It is an experiment I want to try.
Dang, did you here about or read the electric car post on CNN, I am going to check out the movie when it comes out.
