hi!
Ron- my garage heighth is right at 10'. As low as the Cobra and Mustang are, it 'works'. Wouldn't want to do much taller cars. Although, i could push the lift further into the garage, I've got plenty of clearance. If i needed to move it in further, it would be for the garage door to not come near the rollbar. Also considered and may trade around and put the Mustang on top. No rollbar to interfere.
The lift package came with driptrays, so far haven't seen any drips on the Mustang. Might order a couple of more, to run the entire length of the cobras underside. It is very very odd getting in and out under the cobra. I can look up, and my eyes study the underside. weird. My car is really dirty underneath.
Where the oil cooler is, it has scraped tons! straight down to the fiberglass.
the sidepipes are scraped, and unsightly. Definitely see some cosmetic maintenance issues!! Basically, I need completely new pipes. (but i knew that when i bought it 3 years ago!!! )
Bernie. It's going to work out great! The lift legs are low, they are very stable and secure. Sit flat on the floor. There are bolt holes to bolt to the floor, but did not do that. Casters come with the package, as well. I can remove both cars, clip on these heavy casters, and move the lift. Outside the garage, to the other side, wherever. Of course don't move the lift with a car on it!! Can't you just see the car rolling off....
I am going to 'plug it in' the outlet with the garage door opener. It is standard 110. A regular plug, did not have to add electrical service, or install a 220. I thought I'd have to get an electrician out here to pull 220, (like on the clothes dryer) but did not. Very simple, very 'home user friendly'. I wrote all the directions in silver sharpie (marker) on the post. Kids will not be able to reach the plug (which will be unplugged and moved). I'll only put in the 15' extension cord when raising/lowering. Cannot be too safe!
Not too sure I'll show David how to operate it, either. (precautionary!!! )
I think it could work with a little bit lower ceiling, but not much. I have several inches of 'extra' over the Mustang, and allowed several inches of 'extra' over the Cobra, and the lift platform is 4". 50" Cobra, 54" Mustang, 4" platform, all adds up to hmmmm 108". Ceiling heighth is 120". Lots of room!!!
I have lowered the radio antenna on the Mustang, but I even have several inches to raise it back up.
Very glad i did it, and of course Jay has FOUR OF THEM in his shop, so I went with his recommendation.
There is a distributor in Ft. Worth, and the rep came out last Monday, measured, ordered it, and set up a delivery and install. (Outside contractor set it up).
All what I consider to be reasonably priced. I'll find the link and post it.
Oh, Ron, the new 500 will sit in the Mustangs 'old' spot. Might have to get ANOTHER lift if i get another toy!!!
Kristen

Kristen,
That is a nice set up. The garage door is why I can't have a lift. My garage ceiling is 10' but the door tracks come back half way and my garage isn't deep enough to go much farther back as I have cabinets mounted across the back wall with a work bench on top of them. I talked to a door company once about re-routing the door tracks and opener and they said it would be cheaper to build another garage. They do make a car diaper I have seen in some book that will go the length of the lifts and catch any oil or anything that may drip. And it was easy to put up and take down if you wanted to do something under the car. Then yo just fold it and lay it out of the way. Won't the Shelby be a little higher than the 65? If you keep getting toys, maybe instead of another lift you should consider an underground parking lot.

I think she likes the lift...too much. Kristen, are you sleeping in the garage...with the lift?
Fred, the only way Frenchy get neurotic is if there is a Turtle around. Frogs generally do not like turtles.
Ron, I can hear your gears working all the way in Michigan. You want one like that...don't you?
Okay!!! Erich, the younger son got...four goals last night to put his team in first place in his Hockey league!!! He scored a hat trick and then no even a minute later, flipped his fourth over the goalies leg for four goals.
Okay, I have shared my excitement. Granted it is not a new lift, I have an older one that allows me to work on the car, BUT it's better than crappy news.

Go back to work and stop goofing off. Only us fortunate retired people can post messages during the work day.
Guess its time for breakfast, then a shower, then ????? maybe a nap?
All the way up to 31 ºF now but snow forecast for tonight.

Tru,
If there was any way for me to have a lift in my small garage I would have had one like Kristen's a long time ago. But it would be cheaper to build another garage than to try and have mine modified to let me put in a lift. So I just pretend I really don't want one.

Ron - ditto that, but still jealous of Kristens garage (size), the new lift and the cars it holds. Its not fair for one person to have 3 nice cars, a big garage AND a lift.
On the other hand, a good friend of mine built a new house about 7 years ago and he built an 11 car garage. It has a lift, a bathroom and a washer/dryer cuz the wife does not want his greasy clothes in "her" clothes washer. Of course, his garage is full and he has some other cars garaged in other locations. He is a big Lincoln collector along with some nice Caddys, a 65 Corvette and a boat-tail speedster.
Got tired of my turtle avatar, so I changed it back to something that looks better than Frenchy.

Warren,
The new Avatar is a great improvement. And that garage of your friends sounds like what I would like. I would like a 12 car garage with a small attached house. Then I would like the money to fill the garage with cars I want. I wonder if Kristen would give us some of hers when she gets tired of them and gets new ones.

Yesterdays weather. Cold, high winds, rain, and then in the afternoon loud thunder with a 30 minute hail storm. Supposed to be cold and wet today and through the weekend. I am tired of this crazy weather.

Ron is shaky enough by himself that he does not need the floor doing the jitter-bug.
Just had a couple ears of corn, probably from CA. They were really good!

Still cold, wet, and depressing here. Fred we have earthquakes here on a daily basis. Most of them are just 1 and 2s and no one even notices them. There is a deep fault just A mile or so South of Shasta Dam and it is very active. About once or twice a month we will have a 3 and even a 4 occasionally. Those you notice as doors pop and bottles fall. But no one even talks about them. Kind of like living in the Arctic. Another snow is no big thing.
Edit: I forgot that this morning is when I have to go into that camera class. Maybe now I will learn how to turn it on and off. Not aiming to high.

Warren,
I would prefer the Earthquakes to the hurricanes and tornadoes any day. I have been through 3 pretty big ones and not had any real injuries. But at least we don't have to sit for a week watching it come and knowing there is nothing we can do. The quakes just hit and go. Sometimes it is better to be uninformed.

Well, they say 6 to 12 inches for us tonight.
I think I might work on the fires in the house tonight.
Fred, he has had a couple of five goal games, but those are years ago. This is for the high school.

See, if you had some small Earthquakes there they would shake all of that snow down for you. Then it wouldn't be so deep to shovel.

Tru - enjoy the snowfall, Its really nice when it first hits the ground and everything is nice and pure white. But then it gets dirty.
I think I'll go shopping for my annual flower seeds. Got to start them now before it gets into March. Then again ... maybe I'll just buy the flowers in May. Lot more $$$$ though.
Ron - I hear ya about the suddeness of an earthquake, but since I've been in the eye of major hurricanes, I'd still prefer them to an earthquake or tornado.
Then again, a mad two-bit frog is a handful too.
My left cheek is sore ... will anyone please kiss it and make it better?
