I envy you having nice weather and being able to go for drives. It has been great here, but starting tomorrow we are supposed to have rain for the next 5 days and I see some overcast moving in now. Got to spend 3 hours on the phone with a Dell Tech who is in San Salvador. Good guy to put up with my cluelessness.

A tech is due out here monday to install the FREE stuff for FREE.On top of that install (FREE) a 2nd (FREE) harddrive.

Turns out the Tech in San Salvador knew Frenchy from when she was down there 'partying'.

I'm glad I told you to call Dell. That is one of the reasons I have always bought Dell computers. If it is within warranty, they usually bend over backwards to fix the problem. Also, they normally use excellent quality components. Between work and home I've probably had 5 Dell laptops and 8 Dell desktops in the last 15 years. I've found that most "early" problems are hardware related and then it swings to software problems after you load 50 different programs and it gets over the warranty period. But I've had very few hardware problems with my last 3 Dell computers - one fan ... that's all.

I'm glad to see that all the lovin' and money you've splurged on Frenchy has finally started to pay off.

I had very seldom heard anything positive about Dell Tech Support before.I had never before had any contact with them
So just based on second hand opinions,I was not looking forward to it and was trying to avoid contact.

I had a very positive experience.

The computer I am having problems with is #2 of the 3 Dell's I've bought.Not a single problem with the other two still in use.

I'll buy another Dell...if I don't get an Apple.

I really enjoyed our conversation yesterday, and if I ever buy another computer it will most likely be a Dell or I will have one made as I shake to much to mess with those small pins any more. Also enjoyed meeting Frenchy but still don't understand how she got her tongue all the way through the connection and left my receiver all wet and sticky.

BTW, Warren, us poor folk out here on the farm have dirt roads. The Mud is a mess each year. The snow is a mess each year, but it is nice living out where I can sit in my back yard and watch the nature channel...without a TV.

No, I don't have a turtle. I guess I should get some kind of mascot, but with no car it is hardly important. Maybe a Tasmanian Devil.

I can understand the dirt roads and mud. When I was young, 2000 years ago, I once had a flat on a dirt road. The darn jack just sunk into the mud and I spent half an hour putting small rocks under it and watching it push them down into the mud before I could lift the car wheel. And of course I had no gloves and the whole wheel was one huge glob of mud. Finally got enough off to find the lug nuts and got the spare on. After that, I carried a thick piece of wood in the trunk just in case.

It will be a upgrade from what was originally delivered last April.Not a new machine though.
But it will end up just being what I had ordered and paid for last April.

I do 99.9% on my Dell Laptop.

I got the Desktop last April and it took me until Sept. to take it all out of the boxes.

You are making me jealous. I can fart and 4 neighbors will hear it. The Atlantic Ocean is about 400 feet from my front door, but the only nature is fishing and the mud flats at low tide. Living so close to the ocean, it's always cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter as compared to living more than 5 miles away, so that is a big benefit.

No ride this weekend, but Wednesday looks promising. Next Saturday I'll probably bring the Cobra inside the car club (heated). Then I can do the 100 little things I want (and need) to do without freezing my a$$ off in my still unheated garage at home. So I'll probably be off the road for at least a week, maybe two. One of these days I'm going to blow down that 1952 one car garage and build a 3 car garage-mahal. Not enough room for anything larger on my postage stamp lot (50 x 100 ft), which is normal in my area.

I put in a gas heater a couple of years ago for working in the big barn. It really was a good move. I had to make my own gas injectors, but other than that, it was an easy installation.

Warren, I think the name of the company that supplies good gas heaters at a good price is Tek Supply. If it is too hard to find, drop me a note and I'll get you the number.

All you need to do is get either Natural ( the stuff they pipe from the road to your house ) or Propane ( the stuff you get in the bottles or tanks ). Find a good location in the garage. Put two strong 2 x 4s in the ceiling at the desired location to tie the heater to. Then, with the help of a friend or two, lift the heater into position. Cut the hole for the roof and make sure to use a double or triple wall stove pipe out the top of the garage. Then you plumb it for the gas and check the joints with soapy water.

If you get no bubbles, plug in the power and ignite the pilot ( if it doesn't have electric start ). Set the heat at 65. That should give you about 70 degrees in the work area.

I've thrown a parachute out of the back window while my buddy was driving 70 MPH on the highway ....

I started a newspaper fire in the passenger footwell of a friend 68 Rambler when the temp was about zero outside and the heater was broken ...

I've pulled up the emergency brake on a rent a car going 70 MPH ...

I've had to tow quite a few cars out of a local sand pit after getting stuck ...

I've set cars on fire ....

I've put bricks on the gas pedal and started the car ... max RPM until it dies!

Whatsamatter you Tru - haven't you had a battery fall out of your car? LMFAO. But I did not want to say anything on the Arizona thread cuz I think its a USED car. I laughed for about 2 minutes until my eyes started to mist up!

Now that was some thread. I have never seen a car with the battery mounted under it. But if it takes four threads with hooks to hold it, I would imagine you would have to take them loose to let it down for charging or changing. Almost as funny as the person that posted a year or so ago about him and his wife driving his new Cobra over to his Boss's house for dinner one night and on the way the license plate holder fell off. After getting there he said there was a bunch of people admiring the car and he opened the passenger side door to show them and it fell off into the street ruining the paint.

To tell you the truth, my SPF has the battery in the trunk. It has a nice cover over it. I've never had the cover off in 2 years of ownership! But I'm sure the "engineering" of the battery hold-down and support brackets are "top shelf". Everything else in the SPF is top notch. So if my battery falls out on my next ride, I probably will not post it here!


I still laugh every time I think about a battery falling out and dragging it along the road. I should not laugh about somebody's misfortune, but ....

I've owned quite a few $hitboxes with hundreds of thousands of miles, but I sold a 70 Chevy convertible to a friend about 1980 for $300. He drove the car about 20 miles and one of the front tires fell off. Not just the tire and rim, but the front ball joint broke and then the lower one broke! He drove it about 1/2 mile to a junk yard and left it there! He had to call his business partner to get a ride back to work! We still laugh about it!

I had my battery in the trunk with carpeting and hold downs for 11 years and never a problem. I used the Optima Red Top gel-cell type so there was no problem about spills. I did have a frined many years ago with a 1958 Ford whose battery came loose on a hard turn and fell over into the fan. But the car stopped immediately and what a mess.
