Very rare around here. Maybe a carport NEXT to an enclosed garage, but never in front of one. I do not think I have ever seen that set-up ... but it makes a lot of sense in many locations.
My turtle is NOT strange. You're just jealous - admit it!

Warren,
You are just jealous because my carport is larger than your garage. And it is nice to pull right out of the garage into the shade in the Summer. Also nice to miss getting soaked in the Winter when it is pouring rain. If the city would have let me I would have had it extended all the way to just where my gates will open.

I think the car port thingy is for shade.
Why get into a car that is 180 or more degrees inside if you can knock it down to 100 with a car port.

Tru,
You are so right. Get into a car that has been sitting out in our 115+ sun for a few hours and then get into mine that sits under the car port.

Just got home from a pretty good drive in the Coupe. I drove it down South of Redding as I am gaining more confidence in it. Just stalled it at one red light. It is going to be hot here today and the rest of the week and supposedly into the 100s next week. I got a lot of looks going down the freeway. Mostly the What in the He** is that kind.

Ya, I wish I had the room for a car port .... but when I go for a ride, the Cobra is inside the garage and NOT in the hot baking sun. I also have this HUGE air conditioner about 200 yards from the garage ... its called the Atlantic Ocean ... maybe you've heard of it!
In the summertime, the temp at my house is always 5 to 10 °F cooler than 5 miles inland. The reverse is true in the winter, so I normally get less snow, except for a nor'easter.
But the topper is my daily driver .... it has a remote starter and I use it. In the winter I always put the heat on HI and always put the A/C on max in the summertime when I get out. I have a spare "key fob" to start the car from my bedroom and use it whenever I'm getting dressed to go out.
Its all the way up to 56 °F today so no ride.
OK, time to make Tru hungry. I guess I'll have to start my dinner - homemade corned beef and cabbage and potatoes and carrots and .... no wild pig for this gourmet.

Warren,
You have a great location for temperature. Unfortunately I don't have that. It is either cold or very hot here. What do you mean it is all the way up tpo 56° today and no ride. You go when it is much cooler than that.
So far as the car being in the garage it gets hotter in there than in the carport. The carport lets air flow around it.
Tru is probably packing for the London trip. Hope everything goes great and he has a great time.

Hey, at least you all had a garage or carport. In California we had a little one car shade thingie. That was it.
Anyone want to come help us move Saturday morning? You still have time to catch a flight. Free pizza from Kwik Trip! Pretty tantalizing offer ya gotta admit.

Solution to Save Gasoline
George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline
Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The
best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11
million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million
less people using our gas. The price of gas would
come down. Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard
the border. When they catch an illegal immigrant
crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and
some ammo and ship him to Iraq Tell him if he
wants to come to America then he must serve a tour
in the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's
there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be
allowed to become a citizen since he defended this
country. He will also be registered to be taxed and
be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter
illegal immigration and provide a solution for the
troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a
better life for themselves. If they refuse to serve,
ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle
or ammo. Problem solved.

Nice post Ron,
George Carlin has some great ideas. I like that one alot. Only thing is while they are in Iraq they should be taught how to speak English.
Maybe "W" should send his drunken girls over to fight his war. If he had to do that the war would be over today!
BTW
Congrats Tru!, OHH Maybe I should say congrats to the wife for putting up with your butt for so long. I know my wife desrves a medal for putting up with me for over twenty years now.

Steve,
Nice to see you posting again. Hope everything is gong well. The heat here has just about stopped all unnecessary outdoor activities for the past week.
I just wish we could some how get out of all the messes we are in, get some new politicians in office who care more about the country and our citizens than their pocketbooks and how many votes they can get by sucking up to all the illegals. I also wish I had a clue as to how to do this as it is becoming more and more clear that we can't seem to vote the crooks out of office.
