Aloha Ron,
I don't think they are required in Hawaii but I have a Classic Roadster which
has them. The transmission is a T-5 WC. I just printed their shop manual
which has exploded views and talks you through. When the guy looked at mine he just pulled the covers and split the two cases. The ball bearing,
spring loaded detent? for the shift pattern looks like a trip to re-install.
He just gave me back the pieces with the bolts, etc in a bag. Didn't pull
much else apart. I haven't seen any metal in the remaining fluid, and the
gears aren't chipped or worn. In the trouble shooting section it mentioned the reverse light switch as sticking which would prevent it from going into
reverse. I have a gut feeling that this is all that is wrong and he was trying
to take me for a ride. If I can get it back together and it works then I'll have an extra transmission, or I could alsways sell the core if it does need
rebuilding. I'm with you as far as trying get all that stuff back together -
I'm too old to start a trans. rebuilding career and it sure likes something
that requires some time to learn. If I have a problem I'll take it to someone
else to play with, hopefully someone who is honest.

Congrats on writing post #4000 on this thread. Of course, it would be better if you could celebrate your 4000th Cobra ride.
After yesterdays parade, I went for a nice long ride. Most of the streets were empty. Everyone went to a cookout, I guess.
But no ride so far today. The temp is all the way up to 84 °F which is right next to 114°F. Too hot, but maybe tonight.

Josh & I went to the local fireworks display wednesday night.Got close enough we had to pretty well look straight up at it.We had always watched it from the second floor of the beach house before.
Being as close as we were, you could feel the explosions. Good show, went on for an hour.
Been dreaming about riding my Harley the last several nights.

I have thought about putting "reversing" lights on mine.
Erich is going on a Cobra road trip to the bridge. 7 hours of driving.

Turtle News - Mustang Island
Warren,
Mustang Island, where we are,is a nesting area for Kemps
Ridley Sea Turtles,Loggerheads & Green Sea Turtles. So far this year they have spotted 120 ridleys, compared to 101 for all of last year.
Researchers tag and use epoxy cement to attach satellite transmitters to track them.
I guess FROGS are just too fast for them to spot and tag.

Fred
I read a story a couple of days ago about glueing small computers to turtle shells, but it was up here in New England.
I looked to see if they mentioned frogs, but no luck. You may have to get Frenchy off her back and get out around the country to promote frogs.
Got up to abpout 88°F early this afternoon, but a storm front came thru about 5 PM and the temp dropped about 20 degrees.
So off for a nice cooling ride. Just got back and had a nice salad. Now for supper ... stuffed red pepper and an arrinchino. Maybe some green beans or corn for a veggie.

It has not worked before though.

What is it with frogs and turtles for crying out loud
I look at the window and I can tell you there are more frogs than turtles here. LOL The rains have washed them out of their homes, due to flooding. I wonder if they will get their area declared an disaster area so they can also collect from our tax dollars. LOL (just kiddin you two)

LOL That is funny Warren. I have been working on my Excel files all day and I am about to go cross eyed.
I need to get off this thing and take a rest.

I'm taking a break now. Got the transmission in and cycled it through most
of the gears AND reverse while it wa son the jack stands and everything
seemed to be the way it should be. Tomorrow I'm going to pull the roll
bar and put some nice bezels (sp?) on it, then I'll drop the car, pray a little,
and take it for a trail run. Wish me luck.
Kristen - no rain yet but it's a coming.

Flip,
Glad that you got it all back together and everything seems to work. Hope it does so when you go for the drive. I am sure that it will as it is a new one and if it shifts on the stands it should do so with the car on the ground. Good luck.
Ron
