Warren,

No, the tire had never had any problem and the former owner said he had never had anything done to any of them. I have had tires blow out back when we had the old bias ply, but nothing to compare to this. Oh well, at least I got a lot of attention and probably several brown pairs of shorts in the cars around me. No curb where I was turning. Just off one very level street onto another.
Believe it or not I still play with that old lap top from time to time. I bought a new Dell several months ago and have hardly used it. I should get it out and hook it up and let it update itself.

Ron,
I wonder how many tires "explode" as compared to just going flat due to a leak. Everyone sees all the rubber from truck tires on the highways, but it's probably all due to recap tires. My last flat tire was about 25 years ago, knock on wood.

I got you beat on laptops. I bought my laptop about 18 months ago and its been 14 months since I've used it. I got to go on vacation so I can use it!

It was 55°F when I got up at 6AM. Supposed to go to the mid-70's today. I cannot believe the weather here this summer. Fantastic. Guess you are going thru a cold snap too. Weather channel says 97°F for you today in Shasta Lake area.

Warren,

This weather here is actually cold as August is normally the month we have the 117/118 stuff in and so far the worst has been 104. The past week has been in the mid 90s. In July we set heat records with 117 for a few days. The month is only about half over, but this is just unbelievable and everyone is enjoying it while it lasts. Our big problem is water and it is going to be worse before next Winter gets here.

I use my laptop everyday... heck I am on one of them right now and the other one is sitting right here beside this one charging up.

I love the fact that I can take it with me when I am in the field. You never know where I am at when I post.... One of the reasons I give out the Yahoo email address is so I can get it when I am out. They both have Wi-Fi and Internet cards so I get what I need when I need it.

It is funny how even with the new one I still use the old one more. I also love the zip drives that I can take info from one to the other on the run or I can hook two USB's together and get info off of one while using the other.

It's great.

I had a blow out on a truck once. It sounded like a cannon going off. There was nothing left one the rim but the beads. The guy at the tire store it happened because the tires were over inflated. I laughed and told him I would take four new one now as they had just balanced and rotated them less than a half hour earlier. He said, "Yep your right" and put on four new tires.

Ron,
If you just had the oil changed or some service work they may have put too much air in the tires.

Steve,

No service work at all on the car and I check my own tire pressures and use the compressor to air them up if they are low. I just checked all of the cars tires the evening before this happened and only had to air the spare in the 69 up. I guess this is just one of those things that I will never know exactly what caused it as there was nothing left to look at.

Hmm...the trees. Well, I posted that we had planted a few hundred more.

All total about 600 were planted in the past three years, half have been killed off by; deer, water ( lack of it ), other trees ( happens more than you think ) and Machinery ( brush-hog ).

So, I think I may loose a few more to trees, but if it don't start raining here, I am going to call it a total loss.

Let's see, I got the replacement plate for the stove last night. No Carb yet. Placed foot boards on the new barn ( our fifth and last for this property ).

I am pooped!!

Ron, I am sory to hear about your car.

For you wood workers, I cut a very very hard cherry down and gave chunks to wood workers at my job.

They said it was some of the hardest cherry they had ever seen.

Ash and Elm are dying big time. The cherry is like once in a while, so this was rare.

Tru,

I should have it back in a year. It is at Bill's house and I told him to take his time and just work on it as he has time. I am having that fuel injection and the junky computer replaced with a new carb unit and an MSD ignition also. Then a couple of minor wiring issues and it should be in great shape. The worst part is what it will cost to replace that darn wheel and tire. And I have the 69 I can take for drives, so I am not without any type of car. Sorry you are having such a time with your trees. I fear that we are going to start having big water problems soon as the lake is really low and they are even blocking parts of it from boats as there are to many old tree stumps and high ground that is just barely under the water now. I think that parts of the old town the lake covered will soon be out in the open.

Ron

Sorry to hear about the trees Tru

We had water every where here for months and now we have none. I kept telling everyone around here to quit complaining because when it stops there will be no more..... it's 105* right now outside and 117* heat index.

Steve,

This has to be the strangest year I have ever seen here. This is our hottest month and so far it has been the coolest one this Summer. And with no rain during last Winter, we sure need the heat to stay low.

Ron,
Good to see you're getting that stuff taken off and put back to where you'll beable to drive and enjoy it.

Have you given any thought to having the a/c ducts redone to your liking while the Coupe is down?

Fred,

I talked to him about that and he said it would take about 10 minutes if he can find the Ys that will fit. The hard one would be on the passenger side as that hose is just about 8 inches long so I told him to leave that one as I don't have any passengers anyway. Mainly I am just happy to see that darn computer and fuel injection going away and knowing I will be able to get into the car and it will start right up. And of course there is the added problem of getting a new wheel and tire. This eye site of mine is just really frustrating as I could do the wiring stuff easily if I could see. But my glasses won't focus and I can't see anything at all small with them off, so I am pretty much messed up there. I did tell Bill if he could get to that stuff I would come down and draw out how it should be. I am not even sure how this steering wheel comes off. It doesn't have the ring of little screws like my other one had and since the center button isn't the horn, I haven't really paid much attention to it. But that wiring is just some bad connectors up in that rats nest.

Gud morn y'all too.

Yesterday, oh what a terrible day. It was a scorching 72°F when I took the Cobra out of the garage. Drove around a lake in Braintree looking for a good place to take a picture. I think I found a good place.

After taking those pics, I drove around on some roads that I have never traveled, about 10 miles from home. To my surprise, I found a place called Pond Meadow Park. It had a road which went about 2 miles thru the woods, and terminated at a nice pond.

... and some huge rock formations ...

On the way home about 5 PM, the temperature was about 68°F by the ocean. My what a terrible cool, sunny and dry day. I only wish I lived in the southwest where the temps are a more reasonable 105°F.

Steve - I watched that show when it first aired. Funny stuff, but no where even close to his 200 MPH album. I have the record, but no record player. It was on the net about a year ago on a UK Cobra forum but its gone now.

Tru - I just prayed to the My Shasta Goddess for some rain in your area. But I also asked for a lull in about a month so you can take a ride when the Cobra is fixed (hopefully). If you have to use the trees to build an ark, don't blame me!
