Seriously.
No we actually have 2 red lights on 78. One right there at 205 and one at Main St. The 205 intersection does get pretty busy in the AM and PM rush hours, so that one makes sense. The other was put in for the new housing (Grand Heritage, where I live). There are 3 different areas for GH right now, the main right off of 78, the area I live in is off of Main st, and now the new construction going on behind the BBQ place on 205 and 78. I take it you rolled through here recently?

Rode thru there last Sunday on my Harley.

Picked up FM 544 southwest of Plano.Got on hwy 78 from 544.Rode 78 up to Bonham, then back south on it to Farmersville. Then went back west.Nice 200 mile Sunday ride.

The reason I asked was I checked out the roads on a map before heading out and knew you were in Lavon and I'd be riding thru it.I planned on noticing what the town looked like.I like small towns.
Well, while on 544 I joined up with 2 other bikes .Who happened to turn on to 78n also.

I got so involved in the group ride I "forgot" to notice the town.Could not even remember if there were any redlights thru there.

I'm chalking it up to being preoccupied instead of a rather long senior moment.

Right Fred,

Admit it, you were scouting for new locations for Frenchy and the Ho sisters to work.

The larger the Brain the Bigger the Fart. To miss a whole town Fred must have had a huge one.

Not really. You blink you miss this town.

Fred,
after you leave Wylie on 78, the highway drops to 2 lanes and goes over the runoff from Lake Lavon to Ray Hubbard. As you come back up the hill the speed limit drops from 60 to 50. That is Lavon. The highway skirts the western edge of the town. If you did not turn off of the highway onto the "business loop" (old highway route) at the 2nd light, you miss the "downtown" portion.

The 2 lights are right there as you get to the top of the spillway valley, and then right before the overpass. After the overpass (which curves to the left) the speed limit is back up to 60 and you are out of town. Total of about 1 mile.

I probably saw you. I was out and about and saw 2 groups of 3 and 1 really large group of harleys riding last Sunday.

Joe,

At least your town is large enough to have a stop light. So that makes it larger than here. We have one stop light but it technically isn't in this town until they combined 4 of the small towns into one. And it is just at the entrance ramp onto the freeway.

I think the only reason we have them is because TX HWY 205 dead ends at HWY 78. During rush hour, if you did not have a stop light there, traffic would be backed up for hours and hours. The new housing development is scheduled to more than triple the size of Lavon. The 2nd light is at one of the exits of the main area for the new housing.

I live in the new housing development but not in the main area right off of 78. I have to turn the opposite direction at the light and follow it back a little ways to get to the 2nd area.

Darn Joe,

You live in a Metropolis. The total population of Shasta Lake, which is 4 separate towns that went together to incorporate some years ago and has 4 different zip codes is just over 1,400 total. But you can drive 10 miles and still be in the city limits.

Morning everyone.

Looks like it will be a bad day on the street. Even with 3/4% rate drop. Looks like the hedge funds managers are getting more rich by the second.

Steve,

I fear this is just going to get worse for a while. I think they sit to long trying to deny there was any problem and now it has gotten out of control. I talked to my Cousin in Arkansas and they said that they got $1.90 per pound for beef last Summer and they went to sell some a week or so ago and the most they could get was .80¢ per pound so they just kept them and will butcher them for them and their families. She said that the price of meat back there in the market is out of sight. They get the .80 cents per pound and it sells in the market for $3.49 a pound. It has taken the crooks in Washington to long to admit that they need to do something besides run around enjoying themselves.

I think Fred was just enjoying the ride so much, it didn't matter what town he was going through.

I mean afterall...it was a Harley.

Another snow fall under our belt, I will have to plow again.

Yea, when I had my convertible, I could go on a ride and just forget about where I was going and where I had been. I remember realizing that I was in the middle of nowhere and my low fuel light was about to come on. Those were the best days.

Joe,

That is easy enough to do on a really great day and not much traffic around. I did it once and just happened to look over at my gages and thought one of them is broken as it isn't reading. Then I realized it was my gas gage. Fortunately I was on top of the mountain over toward Lassen and coasted about 20 miles down the mountain until I came to a little store that had a gas pump. After that I watched the gas and other gages closely.

Edit to add this for Tru: My cousin in Arkansas sent me this picture.

That is what it was. It was shortly after I bought the car, and the last drive I did like that in Ca. I started out going up the coast from San Diego, and then at Oceanside, I headed inland and then north again. I was just outside of Barstow when I realized I was out of gas. I made it into town, and right as I was pulling up to the gas pump, the low fuel light came on. 3 weeks later I was living in Texas. I still regret not getting another vert after my wreck, but I didn't want a bigger payment, and decided that I wanted the V8 over the vert. It was a V6 Mustang and just didn't have the performance I was looking for.
