Question

Joe,

Did it download to your computer ok? I have tried a couple of FTP servers and neither would take those files. Can you watch it ok on your computer? If you can, then I never garbaged it in sending it.

Whew as for the storm is came through here at @3:45 - 4:00 Am this morning. It took out some fifty and sixty year old trees that are as big as the hood on my F350 at the trunk.

Not much damage right here at the house, we got very lucky. The town right next to us got clobbered really good. I did not see that there was anyone hurt, yet again another good thing. Some poor old man was crying that he had to cancel the insurance on his home because he had to buy gas for the car. It sucks what people are doing to just survive now. His home was destroyed.

All the schools are closed in Hurst-Euless-Bedford and two are closed in Irving. I hear that some schools are having class with no electricity. I'll bet it gets smoking hot there today unless they get that fixed soon.

A lot of the home builders were hit hard on the homes that are under construction. Many of the new homes are down and many more are "racked" so bad I am not sure they will not have to be taken down.

It was a long night to say the least.

Yep,got a little breezy this morning.

The city contracts out the tree trimming around the power lines.Yesterday they got to my house. I've got three trees that are close enough for them to want to cut back. They got to two of them by climbing, ropes and stuff.
The third one they said was a little dicey and decided a bucket truck would need to deal with it.

Claimed that no one wanted to climb out on that limb with a chainsaw.
I mean it isn't like Biker Babe was going to go out on a limb with them.

Well, the wind this early morning snapped off about a third of that limb.It missed the power line by a RCH.

Wonder if they will still refuse to climb out there this morning ?
I mean I spend a lot of time out on a limb with a chain saw,so to speak.

Fred,

Glad that all of you escaped any major damage. I was watching some of the news and they never really said a lot about what all was damaged but it was an early report and they probably didn't have everything in yet.
As for the limb, now they may want to cut it off at the trunk. I used to have a huge Cedar tree that had some limbs that stuck clear out to the street and they were going to trim them back for me. They did it with a a bucket truck until they cut the first one that has some of the huge rose bush that used to grow to the top of that tree tangled in it. Then they decided the rest weren't going to hurt anything. I had to have the whole tree removed a few years later as we had some kind of bug that went through here and killed a lot of trees.

awakened by the emergency siren out on Beltline about 4:20 this a.m. ugh!
got everybody in our closet. forgot the dog. oh well. fortunately.... everything was ok, with just huge gusts of wind, pouring rain. David raked up all the live oak leaves last weekend. Now the patio is covered with all the ones that HAD BEEN hanging on til the last minute. The pool is green and covered in leaves as well. ugh.
the pool man is here. too embarrassed to go out and talk to him!!

I am skipping bible study this morning and going to go take a nap for a bit. My head is swimming!! I don't feel 'sick' but head is swimming, a little nauseas (sp?) and woozy. Guess that Bellini at lunch yesterday is still hanging on...

several things to do later today, but they'll get done.
ttyl!

Maybe the food wasn't up-to-par.

Cool in the mornings and almost warm during the day. Spring is here, but there is no SUMMER weather yet.

Maybe a tuning of the Cobra will bring it on...that or a lot of rain.

Yea no problems watching it. My problem is that I cannot even connect. It says it doesn't recognize my user name, so I have to look into that. It is my friend's server, so he may have changed something.

Joe,

There were some big messes for sure. But it could have been lots worse, though that is little consolation for the people that lost stuff. I called my cousin in Arkansas and they have had 6" of rain and some wind but the main wind missed them by about 20 miles up there. She did say they still have tornado warnings for most of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas in effect until 10 AM their time which is now well past.

No doubt, it could have been much worse. It was the first big scare of the year here though. Even last year with all the rain, there was not much in the way of big systems like this. It is not uncommon here, but the last few years have made some people slack off on preparations. It was a good wake up call. I need to call the Sheriffs dept later and thank them for the system they have. We don't have sirens out where I live and to get that phone call in enough time to get up, check the weather radars, and get shelter if needed. I greatly appreciated it.

It was nice that they called you. Here we don't have any kind of bad storm except about once every 10/12 years and there is really no plans in how to deal with them when we do have one. The last big snow we had years ago it took them weeks to get the power back in some places because they had sold all of the cities equipment so the supervisors would have money for their yearly pay raises. The police department has no real emergency plan of action either and just kind of make it up as they go along.

Yea, I gotta call them later and thank them. I never knew they had that system and I think it is great. Tax monies well spent in my opinion. Helping ensure the public is safe.

I'm glad everyone posting from TX is OK.

Temperature got all the way up to 76°F this afternoon, so I took a short 4 hour ride (about 100 miles) in the Cobra. No coat ... just a short sleeve shirt.
Yahoo. Its about 7:30 PM and the temp is still 73°F.

The next 2 days are supposed to be about 48°F and rain.

Time for some supper. Salad and left over chicken. Maybe some rice will be good. Oh ... pour some cream of mushroom soup over it. No milk or water added. UMMMMMMM

Time to eat me spinich. Nyuck, nyuck ..

Yea I have talked to a lot of people today and no one seems to be hurt. Just a lot of rain and high winds.

We dodged a bullet for sure.

I don't know the topography for sure, but just a little N of Denton there seems to be a trough that runs nne that attracts these storms like moths to a flame. I am a stones throw south of Denton, and all we got was a rain, wind (not too much) and a heck of a light show. Glad everybody seems to have gotten thru ok.
