The turkeys were running through the back yard.

That picture of the 3 wheel tractor was great. BB would require at least a small bulldozer to get on.

Seen that pic several times. Amazing what people attach as the caption. Most of them know little about tractors.
47 degrees and chilly. I might have to get a fire going.

It was 58 here this morning at 2 AM and is supposed to get up to 85 this afternoon.
I know that o the old 1956/1958 model International tractors with the big rear wheels and two small tricycle type front wheels. it was easy to pull wheel stands and even flip them completely over backwards if you weren't careful when you started out with a lot of throttle and a load such as plows or a couple of heavily filled hat wagon on behind. Don't ask, I spent an hour in upstate New York picking bales of hay off the highway because the owner of the farm insisted they be loaded so high that you could push one over sideways easily by rocking it. At least after that he didn't insist they be stacked so high.

Its about 48°F on Sunday afternoon. Cloudy and rainy. UGH. Same temp as last night, but no rain. Nice sunset too!
Look at the buildings in the distance. That is Boston, about 7 miles away.

Warren,
Nice pictures. I really like the one with Boston in the background. What kind of camera do you have? I have been playing with my cheap Olympus. It is only a 7 MP. one with a 10 power zoom but take pretty good pictures for an amateur like me. I don't use the digital part of the zoom or it would be 12 power. I took a picture of the moon the other night and it actually came out pretty good.

Nikon Coolpix 5600 (about $250 two years ago).
5.1 MP and it also takes the videos I post over on the NE Chapter section. The difference between 4 and 10 MP camera will only show up if you take a picture at max size and then print an 8 by 10 glossy. You said its ONLY 7 MP. That is more than enough ... do not fall for the marketing hype ... I was in the marketing field for almost 30 years, so I can sling the bull$hit with the best of them.
Its my second Nikon and they both have been easy to use. It only has a 3X zoom. A 10X zoom would be nice, but you need a tripod at that zoom to get good pics, unless the camera has built in stabilization algorithms.
Yes, mechanical zoom is the best. Digital zoom in a camera is just marketing hype. You can do digital zoom in your picture software on the computer.
I took 73 pics last night and the one with Boston in the background was my best shot. Just deleted the other 65 or so pics.
Time for some lunch - how about a can of clam chowder? Sounds good, especially since the temp is falling already. No ride today

Well my day was interesting. I decided to build a new computer, my wife likes to play games and this one is starting to slow. It is 3 1/2 years old, and doesn't perform the way it used to. It is a P4 3.2 GHz, 2GB ram on a dual memory bus, 2 SATA Hard drives, Radeon 9250 256MB video card. It has been a great computer but when she is playing the games will pause for a moment then start playing again. It is fine for office applications and surfing as the small pauses don't really affect anything. We have been wanting a new PC to have 2 here at the house, so I decided to go ahead and build a screamer. The specs on the new one:
2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad processor
4 GB DDR2 ram on a dual Memory Bus,
Radeon HD 3650 512MB DDR2 PCI express video card (2 DVI outputs and 1 S-Video connector w/adapter for Component video (outputs in 1080i if selected.)
WD SATA300 320Gb HD
I figured that could handle a game or 50 of solitaire
Well I get everything put together and it will not see the DVD Burner. It was an old one that I had around so I went and got another. Same issue. After a little troubleshooting, I discover that the IDE port on the Mother Board is bad, so I have to take it back . This was the last one they had, so I will have to look at the next level up. I guess I will be reassembling tomorrow night instead of testing it out tonight.

Warren, great shots of the sunset.
How long did it take for you to push your car in a spot that looked that good?

Gee Joe, you could have purchased a good set of heads for what you got in that computer.
I built a server today. My old one finally died.

Tru - about 4 miles from my house. Approx 15 minutes when I have gas, about 6 to 8 hours when I have to push it.
Is there any chance I can borrow Wolfie? Ron's pups couldn't tow a skate board.
Joe - should have mentioned that you needed a computer a while ago. I would have given you my Win95 laptop. A real screamer. Ron has it and I think he uses it to play PONG.

Yea, the Windows 95 lap top is a screamer. But it still works well. I don't think I am going to be needing most of my stuff very much longer and am starting to look at disposing of several things. About the only think that I won't let go is the 69 Cobra.
Warren,
Thanks for the camera advise. The Olympus is a very nice and easy to use camera and I keep it set on the default setting which averages 1 to 1.7Mb per picture depending on backgrounds & etc. It also has sound with it which I don't use and the rapid shooting option, about a shot per second. Also options for manual use, and for shooting all kinds of ways, such as through glass, sports, background at night and on and on, most of which I will never use. If I set it to the SHQ it lowers the number of pictures on a 512 XDL Card from 280 to around 48. I did that once just to see what the picture was like and it was huge. I have also set it to lower resolutions to see how much it degraded the picture and for most work they are good. You are right about the 10 power zoom as I shake so much I have to brace it or use the tripod.

I have under $1100.00 in it and that includes the widescreen monitor. That is less than I paid for my current one. Microcenter had the right stuff on sale. The processor was $199.99 reg 399.99. The motherboard, case w/450 watt power supply, Hard drive, Monitor and speakers were all on sale. A basic keyboard and mouse are cheap, and the DDR2 ram is cheaper than the DDR. I already had the DVD Burner, 3rd case fan is one I had laying in my cabinet I also have 2 available W2K licenses and 1 available Vista license. The only thing that wasn't on sale was the video card and it was only $110.00.
Warren, I missed out on that one.

Joe,
Sounds as if you are building a pretty nice computer for what you want it to do. I don't even know if we have a store here any more that will sell you the case and components to build your own. There used to be a couple but I know that one of them has long since gone out of business. I do know that there are a couple advertised in the phone book that will build one for you, but I am not sure just how expensive they are or how good they are. I kind of like to specify the type boards and such that I got in mine and now most of the major brands seem to want to limit you to what they are offering. Probably to keep the price down.

Ron,
That is a big part of it. A few years back, I started my own business building computers. I started to get quite a few orders (about 4-5/week) and I was starting to make my plan of how to expand into a storefront and quit my primary job when the price on Gateway, Dell, etc... fell through the floor. I could no longer compete with the basic PC. The only time I became an option to people was those that wanted a really high end system, but did not/could not build it themselves. Most of that group prefers to go to the name brand as they "Know" they will get good quality. Within just a few weeks I went from 4-5 built/week to 4-5/month, and now I haven't built one for a customer in 2 years. A big part of how the big guys keep prices down is they buy in bulk. They will buy just a few different mother boards, processors, etc... and buy a lot of them. This bulk pricing helps keep the cost low and the majority of the customers do not care/know what brand what is inside. They just care that it powers on, they can get on the web/read email/play solitaire.
I believe in over building everything. If it is built to handle AB and I only ever use A, then it should hold up for a long time. Like I said the old one still runs fine, but with some of the new games my wife plays, the processor can't keep up anymore. The new one, I will expect to last for years as well.

Joe,
I have always tried to go for over kill also. I got the best graphics boards and processors. Now I am using an old Gateway that I had custom built almost 8 years ago and have gone through two hard drives and a CD/WR drive on it and it still is far superior to what they build now. I would not buy another from them as they have did away with the build your own since selling out to Acer I think it is and the drive trays I saw in their top of the line one were so flimsy I would be afraid to put a disk in them for fear they would break off. I am far past the point of needing a lot of power any more and these older ones do just fine so I will stay with them for as long as I last.

Just came in from mowing and using the weed eater and it is now to hot for me to finish up today. The low here last night was 59 and it is 83 right now and humid. I fear we are not far from the triple digit temperatures. Fire season has already started. We had a small one here and I see they have one down near Los Angles that isn't very big. Man, this heat sucks and it isn't even hot yet.

Well I take the MB back today to exchange it and they were out. I went for the next higher one, same specs but it also supports DDR3 memory. Get it all assembled and guess what same problem. I call tech support because I figure it has to be a setting. Nope another bad IDE controller. I just decided to go ahead and get a SATA Burner instead of using the IDE I have. I will go and pick it up tomorrow. I am tired of making trips to exchange hardware.
Calling it a night and going to bed now.
