It is getting warm here. I walked down and looked at some of the stuff they have for the parade. I enjoyed the old tractors most. The old Farmalls were the type I drove when I was working on a dairy ranch and in the fruit orchards. They also had some old John Deers but I never drove any of those. Not many cars but they never advertised the darn parade. I will just sit on the front flower box and watch the traffic go by as they use this street as the detour.

It was about 103 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and I was 3 hours into the desert heading for The Big Bend National Park when the following song of Arlo Guthrie's came to mind....and I had the pleasure of singing it over & over to The Humpin' Ho Sisters.

The Motorcycle Song
words and music by Arlo Guthrie

CHORUS:
I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy...cle

It was late last night the other day
I thought I'd go up and see Ray
So l went up and I saw Ray
There was only one thing Ray could say, was:

CHORUS

This song is about the time that I was ridin' my motorcycle.
Going down a mountain road, at 150 miles an hour, playin'
my guitar. On one side of the mountain road there was a
mountain, and on the other side there was nothin' - there was
a cliff in the air.

Now, when you're going down a mountain road at I50 miles
an hour you gotta be very careful, especially if you're playin'
a guitar. Especially if that guitar is an acoustic guitar.
Because if it's an acoustic guitar, the wind pressure is greater
on the box side than on the neck side, because there's
more guitar on the box side. I wasn't payin' attention ..

Luckily I didn't go into the mountain - I went over the cliff.
I was goin' at 150 miles an hour sideways and 500 feet down
at the same time.

I knew it was the end. I looked down, I said ''Wow! Some
trip". I thought it...well I knew it was...I knew it was my last
trip, and in my last remaining seconds in world,I decided
to write one last farewell song to the world.

Put a new ink cartridge in my pen. Took out a piece of paper.
I sat back and I thought awhile. Then I started writin':
I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle

And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy ...cle."

I knew that, it wasn't the best song l ever wrote, but I didn't
have time to change it. I was comin' down mighty fast.

But as you all know, and as fate would have it, I didn't die. I
landed on the top of a police car. And he died. I drove away
on the road that he was on. I came into town at a screamin'
175 miles an hour, playin' the motorcycle song.

I came into town, I jumped off my bike, the bike went around
the corner by itself, went up on the stand by itself, turned
itself off.

I walked over to my friend. He was standin' there eatin'
pickles. I said "Hi, what's happenin'?" He looked at me in the
eye and said "Nothin'".

You gotta sing it with that kind of enthusiasm. Like you just
squashed a cop...

CHORUS

Fred
I'm glad your back, but I think its time you signed yourself back into the "home" again. They even washed your straight jacket!

Rained all day today ... and rain tomorrow. Well, guess I'll go back and watch the rest of the NASCAR race.

They predicted light rain today. If the rain coming down right now was any "lighter", I'd still need an Ark.

By Gawd, is it raining hard. Cats and Dogs, maybe some frogs and turtles.

Great race last night, except for the Busch brothers. Both of them are a$$holes, even bigger than that 24 driver (cannot say his name).

I hope Dale Jr nails his a$$ in another race, just like Mike Waltrip did last night. Now that was payback. Loved it

Fred, that there is a fine song.

Please don't tell us you are going to cut a record/CD.

45 this morning, there sun is out...I'm just waiting for it to get warmer before I start work. I sent all of the rain from yesterday to Warren. He said he was going to build an Ark and I wouldn't want him to be disappointed.

Fred,

You are becoming the modern day Arlo Guthrie. But you need to park the motorcycle and hop a freight train at some out of the way place and ride for a while. I am sure the Ho sisters would meet you with the motorcycle at some predetermined site.

Squirrels are intelligent. They eat nuts. So at least our minds do contribute something.

Well...it is Monday.

42 this morning. The lawn is mowed! Took a long time on Sunday, but my wife got it done.

I ran out of siding for the new building. What I got done looks good. Going to have to find more.

Weekend here was quite warm. In the upper 80s and a little humid. Forecast is for it to break into the 90s in the next day or so. I think Summer is fast approaching as I have ran my air conditioning the last two days.

No need for AC yet here, been in the 70s and 80s, but with a breeze blowing, so opening the windows makes the house comfortable. Possible rain, today, but I have a feeling, that if we get any, it will be just enough to make the cars all spotty.

I'm having a hard time understanding all the excitement and celebrations over Cinco de Mayo.

I understand it is about the Mexicans beating the French in a battle.

It seems to me the whole trick to actually beating the French in battle is being able to get a few licks on them before they can whip out the white flag.

BUT then a again,Who hasn't beaten the French ???

I guess when you don't have many wins, you have to really celebrate when you do get one

You have to hit the I'm feeling lucky button, but it is still there.

Just got back from Redding. Had to go get my nerve medicine and then some food at the vets. The temperature is already close to 90 and even the breeze is hot. I don't think I am going to be doing much work in the yards today. I have them pretty well done for the time being. Now to go see if my doctor will prescribe some heart pills for me. I have to fill my car up and I am sure after that I will need them.
