Besides all the quarters, gas is $4.20 here.
That is what makes the difference.

Unleaded regular is about $4.05 and $4.15 for mid-grade (89 octane) which I use in the Cobra. But I always use "plastic". Quarters are much too heavy. Plus I gotta spend my $$ before I lose it all in the stock market.

Hope Ron and the puppies are safe and sound. How about Steve? No hear from him in a while.

Friday, when I went to Paris ,I saved some on gas.
Filled up there before turning around and heading back.

Saved 20 cents a gallon for a grand total of 46 cents on 2.3 gallons!

It was 222 miles round trip.

I can't talk hardly at all after over 3 weeks of breathing this smoke and ash and am sick to my stomach much of the time. Only go outside when I have to. We had hard wind night before last and that caused some of the fires to jump the containment lines. Also have had record heat here. The picture below was taken about 12 miles from my house. More are in my Photo bucket account if anyone wants to look at them.

Ron
Glad to see you posting. We (well at least me and Tru) thought that you had to bug-out due to the fires. How are the puppies holding up?
Great pictures, but scary as hell. I have been inside for the last 3 days with temps around 90°F which ain't too bad ... but the dew point has been between 69 to 71°F which is oppressive. Maybe I can send you a slice of humidity to help with the fires.

Tru mentioned that he was going to take the Cobra to work today. Will wonders never cease?

Hey Fred ... are you driving the Cobra at all? Or have you turned into a Hell's Angel?

Warren,

The temperatures here are in the 110/115 range and only the smoke is holding them down to that as the sun can't get through. It is supposed to be around 113 today and cool off to around 102 later in the week. We could use some rain and a lot of it.

Tru & Warren,

Rain or snow would either be welcome right now. If the wind will stay down today they may be able to contain and start mopping up some of the closer fires here. But that wind yesterday morning and the night before caused them to jump the containment lines and they just announced they are evacuating Ohno, which is a small town about 30 miles West of here. Even after the fires are out, it will take a week or so for all of the smoke and ash to get out of the air.

Tru,

Glad to see that you drove the Cobra to work. If I survive this summer. I think I may start looking for another one. I never realized just how much I would miss mine.

Ron

Tru,

I can't sell something that I don't have. I talked to Bill today and he is taking his wife and kids to another area and leaving them and will be back next week. He said he has another Cobra on the rack now and will get it out before he leaves and then he has to do the rear end on the Daytona, and he said it should be ready for him to start driving it. I told him to drive it like it was his for a week or so to see if anything shows up. And it is just to smoky and the air is to full of ash for me to be out much now anyway. There are a lot of sick and very touchy people around this area right now. Over 3 weeks of thick, stinking smoke and ash can do that to a person.

Lets see ....

113°F temp and forest fires all around. Hmmmm

Ron, why don't you move to a nice place like Death Valley, or maybe Baghdad.

Its only 92 here, but very humid. Just took a ride about 2 miles inland and its about 98°F. I don't even want to think what 113°F is like.

FWB - the laundry basket was full of newspapers. Only have one city supplied recycling bin, so I use a couple of old baskets for newspapers (I get two per day, plus 2 weeklies and the Sunday Globe).

Oh, by the way - real men drive their Cobra in the winter!

FWB,

Note the footprints where Warren pushed the Cobra out by the snow bank. Real Men would drive in 118 degree weather with forest fires on each side of the highway and smoke and ash so think that they could only see a few yards ahead.
