I am still sick form all the smoke and ash and my nerves are a mess but at least I am up and around in the house. The news is urging everyone to stay inside that doesn't have to be out. I could smell burning rubber really strong last night so something burnt that had rubber. Maybe cars or an old building. I haven't heard the latest update this morning, but at least the major fires are now going away from me. The valley is still covered with smoke and you can only see where the sun is, but that is keeping our temperatures down to the 105/114 level instead of the 117 that was supposed to happen. After over 3 weeks of nothing but smoke and ash, I am tired of this and would love to see a clear day. We have had huge fires before but never has the valley been covered by smoke for over a few days at a time before. I need to go up to Shasta and play in the Glaciers.
Real Men would drive in 118 degree weather with forest fires on each side of the highway and smoke and ash so thick that they could only see a few yards ahead.
Ron
I'll gladly drive when the temps are in the 30's (usually 30 minutes or less when the streets are dry), but there is no way in hell that I'd drive in the mess around you now. Like I said before, time to move to Death Valley or Baghdad. Keep a stiff upper lip mate, it will all blow over soon.
Actually, I've only been out of the house once for about an hour in the last 3 days, and that was in my beater Merc, not the Cobra. Temps have been above 90°F with oppressive dew points at 70°F or higher. UGH. I hate the high humidity.
Temp only 78°F so far today with low humidity, so I will be going for a ride. Yeaaaa!

drive in the winter....hell i cant even drive on a damp road without putting it in a ditch. just the weight of my sneaker on the gas kicks the rear out and my car weighs over 3000lbs
3000 pounds? You must be using "leaded" gas I thought my SPF was heavy at 2550 pounds (without me in it).
Out of control? You mean like this? (Ron - note the small amount of snow on the ground).

Nice video. With the glaciers on Mt. Shasta growing and the Goddess still ticked off at you for calling her a hag, I suspect she is storing up extra snow for you next Winter. Better add another story to the house so you will have a way to get out on top of the snow.
However I do agree with you about driving when it is wet. I never took mine out if the streets were damp as all it took was just one little slip of the foot and you were around in circles. If I ever get another one, it is not going to have a lot of horsepower. Something around 374/425 at max.
I have long suspected that Warren was a replica. Afraid to drive in 118 degree heat with just a small amount of humidity added. And now with the smoke, ash, and fires it is a real challenge. Even with the windows rolled up my eyes water and sting until I have to keep wiping them. But the wind has pretty much laid and they are gaining on the fires near me now. But the others will keep the valley covered in smoke for at least another two to three weeks. I would drive over and take some more pictures but my throat is so raw that I feel as if I have a rusty nail stuck in it.
The bombers are making runs now right over my house. Must have been another break out near by.

Ron,
When do you figure the weather, read RAIN,is going to let up in Arkansas ??? The tempts are good though.
Why don't you grab the pups and go see your cousin & old Cobra until the fires/smoke let up or they run you off ??
I still want to take a ride up there is summer ! Looks to be about 10 degrees or more cooler there in the afternooon than here (100).I'm sure the nights up in those mountains are just wonderful.
Poop Ron, you can always go to Michigan and just hang until this entire mess is over.
Warren, did you loose control there???
Raining again...light sprinkle. Corn is about to the three foot mark. Got green tomatoes and there are beans and peppers doing their thingy. I saw many blossoms for the start of pickles, have two gallons of brine ready. Second crop of radish is coming in.
I gave my tomatoes and cukes a good soaking and a feeding today.
Grow you dumb veggies, grow.
They now believe that the salmonella outbreak is NOT due to tainted tomatoes. The Tomato Growers Assoc must be overjoyed since they estimate that the outbreak has cost growers about $100 million.
They think it might be bad jalapeño peppers.

I talked to Ginny yesterday and they had another 1 1/2" of rain. She said it may be next Fall before they can get all of the fields mowed. I know that last year they had to just let one of them go and he brush hogged it and just let it lay. If we could just get that rain out here and the fire and smoke from here back where the flooding is and they are having the mosquito problems it would sure solve a lot of problems.
Research has led to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every action with which it comes into contact.
A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete.Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2-6 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.
In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.
When catalyzed with money,Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.
That sucks Warren. That is enough gas to go around the block once. Here that ticket is so much more right around $100 I believe. I wish they would just do away with them like other states. The motion keeps making it to our state senate, but always fails. Once the reason given was actually the revenue generated from tickets. At least they are not claiming it is a safety issue. Last year someone showed them how not making 2 saves more money than they get in revenue generation, but it still got shot down. I think each year it gets a little closer.

Warren,
Here is another choice on healthy living you could try.
A jogger noticed an old lady sitting on her front step, so he walked up to her and said, "I couldn't help noticing how happy you look!
What is your secret?"
"I smoke ten cigars a day," she said. "Before I go to bed, I smoke a nice big joint. Apart from that, I drink a whole bottle of Jack Daniels every week, and eat only junk food. On week-ends, I pop pills, get laid, and do no other exercise at all."
"That is absolutely amazing! How old are you?"
"Twenty-four," she replied.
Hot. Back from Sears. I had to get some new vacuum bags and then I watched the helicopters and bombers for a while as you can get a great view from up there. I feel as if I live in the landing path at LAX. But they are really hammering the fires today and this wind has really made problems. They had to evacuate some of the outer Western parts of Redding, but I think that is about under control now. Just a few houses burned. They are going to just let the part going North West burn as it is in inaccessible canyons and is headed toward Oregon. The wind is keeping the smoke up in the air, but even with the smoke cover the weather man said we had set heat records the past three days that have stood for over 100 years and the smoke kept the top temperatures down about 3 to 5 degrees. Many of the fire fighters are now starting to come down with exhaustion and heat and smoke inhalation. This heat, plus the hot wind is just making it really bad.
