Pour salt over sliced cucumbers and sliced onions. Pack in ICE for 3 hours.

Drain and rinse veggies.

Bring remaining ingredients to a boil. Add drained and rinsed vegetables and heat through (5 to 10 minutes). DO NOT BOIL.

Let me know if you make some. They are delicious. I usually make them at least once or twice per growing season. If I'm really good, I'll do the mason jars. But usually I just give a lot to my neighbors.

Well, it is a little better here this morning. The smoke isn't quite so think and low , so I can see across the street now. After over 5 weeks of this stuff we have a lot of people that are having to go to the hospital or doctors with breathing problems. All of those burning pot gardens will do that I guess. And we will be stuck with smoke until they get all of the fires around us out and we get some wind to blow it out of the valley. We need a big tunnel through the mountains with huge exhaust fans and they could suck this stuff out and blow it out over on the ocean side.

Warren, we do a large quantity and store them.

So, I would want to "can" them if they are as great as you say. But it appears you do not can them for storage.

I'll have to figure the bath time when I get a chance to look over the ingredients.

Funny you should bring this up, we are getting ready to wash out the crock and fill it with pickles. I am hoping we can harvest enough to fill the five gallon quickly.

We have a dill brine that smells good.

Sunday morning sex

Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95-year-old
Grandmother and comfort her. When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, 'He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday Morning.' Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble. 'Oh no, my dear,' replied granny. 'Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong.'

She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, ''He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along.''

This is for those parents of boys, sisters of boys, and boys that have grown older. And anyone else who needs a laugh.

Why boys need parents...

And you also find out interesting things when you have sons, like...

1.) A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.

2.) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3.) A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words 'uh oh', it's already too late.

8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9.) A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.

11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12.) Super glue is forever.

13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.) VCR's do not eject 'PB & J' sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens.

20.) The fire department in Austin , TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22.) It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23.) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.) 80% of Women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without kids.

25.) 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.

OK I admit it, the first thing I thought of was I have break fluid at home, and the wife should have clorox.

Oh I will be using common sense when I do it. Outside away from anything that can catch fire, and with gloves on. I need to borrow to the air analyzer from work so I can see what gases it is putting off. I wonder if the team will let me take it home.

GMA,

Well another very bad morning up here as the smoke is so thick it is hard to see. My eyes have hurt for so long and are so red I look like one of those guys that plays a demon in some of the SciFi shows. Everything, including clothing smells like smoke. And it is thick and black this morning. I hope that it will lift later on and get higher up in the air. Right now it is hard to make out the houses on the other side of the street. But at least it is Friday.

GMA
It's Friday already? Gee, its a good thing my computer says the date and DAY of the week.

Finally stopped raining, but its still humid. Forecast is for 2 days without any rain. OMG, I may be forced into taking a ride. My front door is wood, and it has swelled so much it's sticking. Time to get out the block plane.

Future Newsflash - Joe "Common Sense" Wicked observed running down the street on fire yelling something about Dot 3 Clorox. News at 11 PM with exclusive pictures.

Warren,

Don't laugh at Joe to much right now. He is out here doing some work but I don't think close to any fires, YET!!! Maybe since most of the state is burning this would be a good place for his experiment.
