Try "Shasta Lake" you dyslexic fool. It's 92°F there right now with only 18% humidity. That's the way its listed on "The Weather Channel" desktop software.

Not quite as bad as your 99°F temp with 34% humidity now. If AC had never been invented, Dallas would be a little hick town. Oh wait a minute, it already is!

I just came inside from working around the yard, cuz its starting to rain. It got all the way up to 72°F but we got about 75% humidity. If I had gone to the picnic in Cow Hampshire, my Cobra would weigh a lot more with all the rain water!

It is so hot the dog won't even chase the cat anymore

It was hotter today. So I bet that dog wouldn't even chase it's tail.

It set a new record at 107 and was the hottest day,at DFW Airport,in 2 years.

Fred, just in case you missed the 11 PM weather report, its still 93°F in Dallas. I think I may have to turn on the heat tonight ... its only 65°F here.

Here's wishing you no brownouts and no AC problem like Joe had a month ago.

At least CC is back up and running.

Warren,
I picked up my bike from the dyno tuner today. He had it three days and made 57 pulls on it.Reprograming ECM's A/F and VE tables, each cylinder is done individualy and then "combined".
I had already remapped 100% throttle,it came out to 13.-13.2 on the dyno.
I got the software and hardware and played with it awhile before I found the right person to do what I am looking for.

I picked it up at 3pm and it was 105.It is about 30 minute ride from his shop to my house.

MAN IT WAS HOT !

Fred,

The high here yesterday was 100 degrees. They give the Redding weather and they always report it as anywhere form4 to 8 degrees less in the Summer and that much warmer in the Winter. And, yes Redding is just 9 miles from me.

Cars of the 50s and 60s
Someone did an awesome job putting this together. (Turn up your sound.)

http://thefiftiesandsixties.com/CarsWeDrove.htm

Right at the very end of the video you will hear the song " Thunder Road " sung by the star of the movie for which it was the theme! This isn't uncommon except this is the one and only song ever recorded, for publication,

SUNG BY ROBERT MITCHUM!!!!!

Man it was Hot yesterday. The AC in the Mustang could not do anything unless we were moving. Sitting at a light and the interior was just getting hotter and hotter. Even my wife who does not like cool weather and prefers the heat said it was too much.

GMW

Boy is it hot here in MA. Its all the way up to 68°F at 8:30AM. Forecast is for 2 days in a row without any thunderstorms. High temps supposed to be about 80°F. I may just tough it out in this oppressive heat and go for a ride in the Cobra.

Fred - 57 dyno pulls! WOW. How much did that cost you? What was the gain in HP and TQ?

We went out for a little while yesterday and this place looked like a ghost town. I have never seen so few people on the road.

The lawns are dying even with them being watered every day. We are not under mandatory rater rationing because so many houses are in forclosure and the lawns are not being watered. So our water consumption is actuallu down for this time of year.

I looked at a house that has been vacant for over two years. The gap between the foundation and the supporting dirt was almost five inches. I could stick my foot in the crack up past the ankle. That is very bad for the foundation and I am sure the house will have propblems in the future because of the neglect now.

Steve,

They are having the same problems around here on houses that have been foreclosed on. Most of the companies that now own them are from the Bay Area and they are just turning into dumps with people breaking windows and living in them. Some of the people that live in those neighborhoods tried to get Redding to do something about the mess but all they would say is it isn't their problem and they can't force the holding companies to make repairs or clean up the places.

yep same thing here. The holding companies are in California and will not do anything with the houses.

The city here is condemning them and tearing them down at a rapid pace. When they condemn a house the owners have 15 days to correct the problem or it is torn down.

There have been a couple of instances where the holding companies are saying they did not even get the notice until the house was gone. The notices are placed on the front door and NO mailings are sent out. So if someone does not check these houses regularly they will be removed. Great policy if you asked me.

I like that way of dealing with the situation. Redding claims they don't have the money to do anything. Other people are getting mad about the messes and are threatening to sue the city as the yards and lots are overgrown and they have garbage and stuff dumped in the yards plus the people breaking in to sleep there. Those places are bringing down the values of the other houses in that area at a faster pace than they are going down anyway.

By the way Warren, nice Avata that you have now.

What they are doing here is contracting out the demo and putting leins against the properties. It cost the city nothing from beginning to end.

Wow that is bad. I need to go get another Soaker hose, I ran over a piece of mine with the mower now I have about a 10' section where there is no hose, and I noticed this morning that it is starting to pull away right there, so I plan on going out in a bit to get one.

Huh
You water the foundation? Around these parts, we try to keep all the water away from the foundation so it does not leak into the cellar.

Oh, I just remebered that we have grass around here and the only thing that grows well in Texas is dirt.

Warren,
We don't have cellars here and yes we have to water the foundation. The dirt will pull back away from the foundation on the sides and allow erosion under the foundation which will lead to cracks later in the future getting to be very expensive. The soil is very expansive here and it will crack all throughout the yard, and pull away from the foundation as well.

Here is an example of what Steve mentioned, just not as severe.

Edit:This is not my house, just a picture I found online. I noticed today that I have a small section that is starting to do this, so I need to take care of it before it gets worse. I did not get out to the store today, I have a rodent problem that I started to deal with in my shed. I ended up just opting to call the pest service and they will be out in the morning.

Yes Warren, we water around the foundation here. If we didn't, we too would have cellars. Only the house would be inside the cellar.

It is unbelievably hot here. I cannot remember heat like this. We have had several deaths locally because of the heat.

Our soil around here is clay.It greatly expands,it really soaks up the water. Then when it dries out,it shrinks big time.
Foundation problems, with a slab foundation, has created a big industry here.
I,on purpose, bought a house with a pier & beam foundation to prevent a lot of the problems.

Steve, you must not have been around here during the summer of '80.That was hot ! Most of those records still stand.
