Steve

Here is a pic of my bland looking motor (compared to yours), although I get to beat the snot out of it about 4 or 5 times a week.

Its 73°F outside, so I guess I'll have to take another ride this afternoon. Its tough, but somebody has to do it. Maybe I'll take a ride down to the farmers market and pick up some corn and sq**sh.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, too. I may just take a ride down to the Foxboro Stadium (Patriots) about 25 miles away. A local car club started up a cruise night in the parking lot this year and they are drawing between 400 and 500 cars.

Ron - how are the puppies doing?

Hey Fred - do you drive the Cobra any more now that you got a Harley?

Steve,

You can use almost any photo hosting site and still put the pictures in your posts just as you did your engine. I use Photo Bucket, but others use Fotki and such. And that is a great looking engine.

Warren,

The pups are doing ok. Just don't want to get out and run around much now that it is so hot. And they are well past that puppy stage now. I just got back from leaving the car down at Jacks and it is already 94 and climbing and the sun isn't hitting here full force yet. Your engine looks nice and clean.

Ron

No Okra ??
I'd bet with you liking that mouth watering, lip smacking good Squash, you'd like okra too.
It could be that okra is a Southern treat.

My Son and his girlfriend stopped by here Monday after a whole day out on the town.I had always thought she was nice enough until last Monday.

It turns out she had been on Josh's case about my Cobra and wanting to get some seat time in it.Josh brought it up to me and I told her "Of course !".
Yep,I think she will work out for him.Talk about a massive smile.

Oh and thanks for the comments on the engine. I spent a lot a days and night putting that together piece by piece.

I had to have things just the way I wanted them and it turned out really nice.

Amazing what money can buy.

Fred, you can confess; you are really doing the long hair - wired - hardened - bada$$ - biker dude and the cobra is just in case. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Warren, did you say you were sending squash to Texas?

Ron, may I suggest one or two of those silver tarps with water jugs as bottom weights. In the wind they flap a little and can take a pretty good beating. The water jugs act like a shock absorber and will allow the tarp to flex if the wind gets really bad.

Well, Yes and no.

I started with the bare block and took it to get painted to match the car color, had another company build the lower end, had Engleese (sp) build the induction system, Jay Nordstrom gave me the flex hoses.

I
Built the purge tank
Polished all the parts
Installed intake & induction system
Installed all the small parts
Installed the alternator
Installed the water pump
Installed the pulleys
Installed the valve covers

So, yes I had some help but it was basically in pieces and I put it all together. I have built many engines in the past but this is a Nitros Engine and I did not want to take any chances with pre-detination. So, I had someone with more experiance builld the short block.

I also had someone else rebuild the transmission, install the carpet and paint the car. Other than that, I put every single nut and bolt on myself.

What is a Nitros engine?

Not familiar with a Nitros engine...but then again.

Ron, you are the sage of wisdom, ever hear of a Nitros engine?

Steve, we have to get it from the sage.

Happy Mothers Day Kristen .... you too, Tru.

Another great night for a ride. Typical Texas weather minus 30 degrees.

I was driving down on the beach road and pulled up to a stoplight, directly behind a Ferrari F430. Gorgeous paint - Ferrari red of course. While sitting at the red light, a young boy about 12 walked past the Ferrari and said in a normal voice "Nice looking car". He did not stop walking, but kept looking at the Ferrari until he got even with my car. Then his head turned and saw my Cobra, and he stopped just like a deer in your headlights and said "WOW" at a level about 30 db higher than his comment to the Ferrari owner. Seeing as the Ferrari cost about 4 to 5 times my SPF, I felt really good.

Tru, the carpet is on the inside of the pan to keep the noise down when you throw a rod. There is a van in my home town that is covered with a purple shag carpet ... all over the outside.

Fred,

Official report here for yesterday was 111. And in one place it was 113. The next week or so will be getting hotter and hotter if we have our normal August Summer weather and should top out around 115/118°. Makes sleeping at night a pain even with the air going and a fan on. I am going to get a tarp today to hang from the roof on the South side of the house where the sun hits all day long and that will give me about a 2 foot air gap between the house wall and the tarp, so that should help some.
I have been taking the pups for their walk while it is still dark in the morning and yesterday morning it was already close to 78 degrees and the street lights were all the light we had to see by. And with one light at each intersection there are some dark places along these back streets.

Ron

GMW

Ron - have you ever considered moving to a cooler climate, somewhere like Death Valley?

My weather forecast for the next 3 days is for rain/thunderstorms (what else is new?) with a high temp of 78°F. I've got moss growing on my back steps, and they are on the south side of the house! And in direct sunlight almost all day! Time to fire up the pressure washer.

Tru,

I can't find any of the silver tarps at the hardware stores around here so I just get the cheap green ones. They block the sun and it is dark under them and between them and the house. I asked last year about a silver one and they said they couldn't get one. I am going to drive over to a larger store on Twin View today and see what they have. What I need is a huge air bubble like they make to store cars in that will cover the whole house.

As for Steve's Nitros Engine, he will have to answer that. My guess would be he had it built so he could add a shot of nitrous to it, but that is just a guess.

Warren,

I have been to Death Valley several times and spend time in some of the area. Burn to death in the day and freeze in the night. And yes, it does get cold at night in the desert. Don't believe everything Hollywood puts in their movies.

Ron
