Fred,
Not all of our heat is dry heat the past few years. We are starting to have some humidity with the heat and it really makes it worse. One day last year the temperature was 114 and the heat index was 118. But at least we don't have the humidity they have in the South.

Don't doubt that.
Wonder if it's ever going to quit raining in the Ozarks for more than 1 day at a time.
I bet they are starting to think they might be in the Boston area.

Sorry if I've been cranky. This working for a living sucks.
Rained well last night. All the plants got a drink.
I think those silver tarps can be ordered from Harbor freight if that will help you.
Take a ride for me.
Best to be prepared Fred, not sure I would do it quite that way, but if it works for you. Dang, you put on weight.
Good to hear from you HLC, was calling for a sanity check.

Tru,
Nitrous Oxide (NOS) 250 horse shot direct injected at the base of all four carbs. That is what all the steel tubing is for in between the 44IDF's
If you look closely you can see the fuel gauges and the NOS gauge on the intake. Two on one side and one on the other side, as well as the fuel pressure regulator. Looks close the injectors are at the base of the carbs on the inside between the carbs, below the steel lines. It was all done to look smooth and seemless.
The engine had, Heck I can't remember but the head gaskets had rings in the cylinders that help to seat the heads to the block. This was supposed to help prevent "leakage" of cylinder head pressure when you hit the "Go Baby Go" button.
I just felt that that engine was above my personal capabilities to build the lower end so I let a pro build it. And I am here to tell you that SOB would run like a scalded ape!
GMA everyone. I have been very busy the last few days. Around here if you miss a second your three pages behind. Shame on me...
We are expecting a cold front (Texas Northern) so the temps should drop into the upper 80's. Whew, looks like winter is here.
Hey K
Glad to see you stop in, We miss you here! Can you tell we need guidance?

I had a good laugh this morning. The TV in the break room was on the Today Show or one of those and they were going through the weather. After talking about the heat in the Pacific Northwest, they moved on to talk about the "Oppressive heat continues in Texas. Even though temperatures have dropped a little there is still not any relief in sight." After that he does the standard cheerful "Now for the weather in your area. Our local weather lady comes on and very cheerfully says, "It will be a beautiful day with lots of Sunshine. Highs in the upper 90s, we may hit 100, but it is not expected."
Amazing what a little perspective will do.

What happened Tru? Did your check bounce? They only thing worse than bouncing a sanity check is having an argument with yourself ... and losing the argument.
Beam me up Scottie, time for lunch. Its sunny outside and a scalding 72°F ... and it is not raining( ), so I've been working around the yard this AM. Thunderstorms supposed to get here about 4 PM, so I guess I'll be forced to take an early afternoon ride.
Later.

Fred,
It quit raining in the Ozarks long enough for my cousin to get what hay he is going to bale put up. He said they are still having showers often but he is just going to brush hog the rest of the fields. It is getting humid there he said. They wanted to take the Cobra to a car show but were afraid it would rain and he said just about the time they would have arrived it did start raining and continued for about 3 hours.
Tru,
Have you been cranky? I never noticed. I did find a silver tarp down here at this hardware store. Now I find I have to have the roof replaced as this hot sun over the past 8 years have just baked the shingles until they have melted and cracked. Just what I need at this time. Another big unexpected bill. The guy that had done my roofing is supposed to call and let me know when he can come out and take a look at it. I wish I could afford to have the roof reinforced and put on a tile roof and be done with it.

Mike,
I miss the Santa Barbara area more all the time. It is one of the very few places that I have lived in that I would not mind going back to. I really liked Paradise Camp and the people there.
Steve,
Since Obama is going to redistribute the wealth I wonder how much of his will go into the pot? Maybe I should send him the bill for my roof. At least he could say he had did one positive thing in his career.

It has been a crazy busy week for me. Today will not be any different I don't think. I did have a laugh yesterday though. Our internal repair center found a way to cheat the system to make it look like they were doing better than they were. I told them that they have to do it right as some of the customers are starting to complain. I gave them a set of rules that they have to follow. The manager told his people that he does not see us enforcing those rules. Yesterday he got called into a meeting and was told that if he does not start doing phones the correct way, we will begin moving all of the product he is doing to another repair center that is willing to do what we ask for the business. You are not exclusive and you will begin now. The Sr Vendor Manager then stood up and walked out. Did not give him a chance to speak. The president of his company then came down on him like a ton of bricks.
It is bad when it has to come to that, but he should have known. He used to work for us as well and quit last year. Now he works for our contractor. My department has a reputation for getting whatever needs to be done done and doing it a way that satisfies the customer. Whenever a big problem comes up that needs fixing they call us. He is still thinking that things will run the way they used to and there have been so many changes.

Ron, I understand those tile roofs are the best. Keep us informed on that, they are excellent insulators and they shed water very well. So did you get the tarp up?
Warren, I am insane...hence I need to check with my good friend in Texas if I am lapsing into the sane.
Joe, I am not sure the heat is just oppressive...I think it is a down right assault.
I wore my boots today, just in case the BS gets any deeper.

Well, we got some rain yesterday afternoon. At least I did not get caught in the rain like I did on Tues night. Its really getting up there at 68°F and some occasional drizzle right now. Good weather for cleaning up my cellar. Have been working (OMG, there is that word again) on it for the last 4 days. It is amazing how much room there is in the cellar when you throw out half the stuff you never will use and organize the rest of it.

Tru,
We thought it was a nice day, it was the Yankee weatherman that said it was oppressive. It was a nice break in temperatures. It was below 100°. Today it has been raining steadily for a few hours, so hopefully it will keep up on the soil will be re-hydrated. I was planning on moving my 2 trees this weekend, but it is supposed to rain all weekend, so I guess I will be waiting for next weekend.

Good thing Tru, it will always get deeper in here.
Did anyone see that robot dog that Mike (bomilia) posted? That thing is awsome.
Ron,
Before you pay for a tile roof, get a price on a slate one. That is truly a lifetime roof and it will ot burn either. Also I have been told, (I do not know this for sure) there is now a liquid spray that is a fire retardant for roofing materials in hire fire areas. It can be sprayed on the whole house with no side effects.

I need to do that to my storage shed and my garage storage racks. I really should finish off the attic floor so I can store stuff up there too, but it is such a pain getting around up there. I do not have an open attic. It is a truss system with the inside ceiling starting at the bottom of the trusses. You have to crawl through all the trusses every 36"
