Steve,

I will ask the roofer about slate, but doubt if I can afford it right now. This couldn't have came at a worse time as I have all of my car insurances coming due, two registrations, and property taxes soon. Oh yea, and a huge medical bill that I have to have paid off by the end of September.

Fred,

I just received an e-mail from my cousin in the Ozarks. I thought they had all of their hay up, but it is still raining and they had another 2" last night. They are afraid some of the fields are going to just rot. So maybe you had better plan on pontoons for the bike instead of tires.

I've been watching the weather for the Ozarks for 3 1/2 months now, wanting to head that way.
All it has been doing is rain, then rain somemore !

It isn't very far, nice 1 day ride, but what a difference in the weather from here.

Surprised you're old Cobra isn't covered in mold & mildew by now.

They way they treat that thing it is a wonder it has any paint left on it. They clean and polish it daily I think. Ginny said they had been rained out of the last two car shows but I believe she said they have two more coming up next month. Tonight is a get together up at Marie Callendars on Hilltop Drive for cars. It is just a monthly get together to talk and B.S. I was thinking about going but in this heat, no way. I used some duct tape outside yesterday to hold something and about 30 minutes later it fell and I went to look and the duct tape had melted and was just a gooey mess.

The corn and squash are good side dishes for chili.

GMA,

Well the top here yesterday afternoon was 114 and it is suppose to be close to that again today. I got up at 1:30 and looked at my thermometer at 2:45 and it was on 80. Boy, do I wish we could get some of the rain they are having in the Ozarks.

Good news on the roof. It is good for another couple of years at most. He said he would call and come out and fix a couple of plases where the wind had caused the nails to push up through the shingles and that was all that was needing fixed. He said all the places he found were out over the overhangs and that hard wind we had made them flex a little and that caused a couple of nails to back off. But when he comes to fix them, he said he would go over the whole roof and make sure no more were starting to do so.

Good news regarding the roof, Ron.

Its all the way up to 60°F this AM, with forecast of a scorchingly hot 80°F. Of course, the occasional thunder boomer this afternoon.

The chili was exceptionally good. Glad I made a 20 cup batch, so I have plenty in the freezer.

Warren,

You are having rain like my cousin in the Ozarks. I think it rains about every other day there. They haven't been able to drive the Cobra for several months. And he still has several fields of hay that he needs to get cut and baled but it won't stop raining long enough for them to do that. I wish we could get some of your rain and you could have 100 degrees of our temperature.

Between Ron,Warren,us in Texas and Tru...the weather the last few months has been the most pleasant at Tru's.
Moderate tempts and just the right mix of rain.

Pay back will be a bit*h in a few more months though !

Good news on the roof Ron.

Fred, yes we will be knee deep in snow in a few months. I was thinking of asking Mt Shasta goddess to bless some of this on Ron as he seems to be in the warmest place of all of us.

Took the wife out to dinner last night, it is amazing what you can get at McDonalds these days.

Ron, after reading over your last few posts, I think you are missing your cobra.

Did you go thru the drive thru and eat in the car or go the whole way and eat inside ?

Tru,

Now that is what I call taking her out to dinner. Warren flew the Ho Sisters to Paris for a dinner after their visit.

I do agree with Fred that you seem to have the most moderate weather of any of us. After 6 weeks of smoke that was terrible, it has turned very hot here.

And I have missed the Cobra since the day I drove it into his trailer. But that is just one of those things. I can't take this heat in an open car any more and that is why I wanted the Coupe.

I would have at least gotten a better looking wig than that. But after eating that concoction, no telling what may grow or fall off.

GMA everyone,
The sweet wife and I got to get out last night alone and we went to see the movie "Mirrors". It was OK but not really anything special. It was one of those evenings.

Going out to a movie for two: $8.50
Drink and popcorn for two: $11.75
Time alone with the sweet wife: Priceless

Ron,
Good news on the roof indeed.

Tru,
Has the best weather now but I would not want to shovel snow that was waist high for five or six months. I do think I will eventually move a little further north because it is just too hot here for me.

Fred,
If that worked I would be on a hot pepper diet today.
All kidding aside though, a friend of mine was completely bald for years. One morning when he was shaving (his beard) and putting on the after shave he rubbed his hand over his bald head. He still had Aqua Velva after shave on his hand. He said he felt his whole scalp start to tingle. So he did it every day and today he a full head of hair. I have know this guy for twenty years and I believe him.

Would it work for everyone, I don't know probably not. But it did work for him.
