Welcome back from Ireland (it was Ireland, wasn't it?). Hope you had a good time. Its always nice to read your posts.

I hope you did not trade in Gus. What did you get? Another Mustang? Two is company but three is a crowd.

Have you added an addition to the garage yet, or did you thin the herd?

Post # 6,000. What do I win? I'm less than 1/2 the age of Ron in Cobrayears.

Quincy is hosting the Babe Ruth World Series again. Little League = 13 years old, whereas Babe Ruth = 14 years old. The team from Nederland TX is 2 - 0 in games so far.

Babe Ruth's daughter was at the opening game. She used to be a Yankee fan, but switched to the Red Sox about 10 years ago. She is only 92 so I hope she sees a lot more Red Sox wins.

Lots of stuff going on in Quincy ... they had a bike ride for charity and 600 bikers showed up. The guy that was killed by the crane leg had over 1000 people at his wake. I took another ride in my Cobra (that is history for Tru). Six college students from Chicago rode bicycles across the USA. They started out with their rear tires in the Pacific and yesterday they dipped their front tires in the Atlantic about 2 miles from my house.

OK, enough babbling. Good Night.

Teacher Arrested !

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator. At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

"Al-gebra is a problem for us," the Attorney General said. "They desire
solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a
search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and
refer to themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have determined they belong to
a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every
country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3
sides to every triangle.'"

When asked to comment on the arrest, Senator Obama said, "If God had
wanted us to have better Weapons of Math Instruction, he would have given
us more fingers and toes." Democratic leaders told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the Senator.

Warren,

I always try to watch as much of the Little League World Series play offs as I can. Some of those kids are really good and they are sure getting larger every year. Even the Japanese team has some that are 6'.

By the way Warren, congratulations on your 6,000th post. You are gaining on Tru. He is looking for an automatic poster now to post any time that you do.

Not nearly enough information here.

And we really do need you to post more. Certain people tend to get out of line or go overboard when we are left to our own devices. I of course am not one of those people.

Well, it is still raining. We are approaching 24 hours of a continuous light rain. Boy we sure needed it. Still working on a way to send some to Ron. I figure once I have a way to control the weather, I will have my Cobra in short order.

Tru,

I wondered how the latest announcements were going to affect you if at all. I saw in the headlines that they expect another major U.S. bank to fail soon. Maybe things will start to turn around soon. I sure hope so.

Company looking at layoffs? I went thru that for almost 2 years before I took early retirement. The anticipation of being layed off is bad. But watching your friends of many years getting kicked out into the street hurts too. The company I worked for had 12,000 ww employees in the early 70's. When I retired 30+ years later, the total ww employees numbered less than 4,000.

Keep a stiff upper lip.

Warren,

There was a piece in the news day before yesterday I believe it was about the company Tru works for laying off or cutting back. As for people no longer being employed, when I was working for the phone company in the late 60s they had over 100K employees in Northern Calif. countying the outside people and were trying to hire more. Then we started putting in the computers and by 1978 the number in this area was down from over 37,000 to just around 260. Now I understand they are down to less than 100 as everything is done from the tech center in San Ramon. The field techs no longer need to know anything except how to get to the various offices and call in and they will run the tests at the tech center and tell them what to do. I still call in and talk to some of the 2nd tier techs once in a while and they tell me it is amazing at the amount of people the various companies have gotten rid of.

Works on Frogs and Turtles Too!!!!!

New Nail Gun made by DeWalt

It can drive a 16-D nail through a 2 X 4 at 200 yards. This makes construction a breeze; with the hundred round magazines, you can build a fence from your lawn chair with a minimum of reloading. Just get a helpful neighbor to hold the planks in place for you as you fire away. After a day of fence building with the new DeWalt Rapid Fire nail gun, the wife will never again ask you to fix or build anything.
