What a good idea. Sounds like we need a round table to figure this out.
If we get a few Democrats in the meeting, I am sure it would be a short one.

i have another idea i have been mulling over, it would need some collaboration
but here it is, we should get together start some shell corporation with other
cobra club members, they would have to be from different countries to look real sell carbon credits this would generate funds, plant trees in our own yards
of course the administrative fees we would show to be 85% of our costs. i think
we could all do couple hundred thou. a month then after a year bankrupt it
and since its international we could collect on that from a couple different countries at once.

Sounds good but who gets to be the CEO that gets the $30 Million dollar bonus for running it bankrupt? And don't forget to try and get as much money in bail out funds as you can before declaring bankruptcy.

ron i would certainly lobby for you to be CEO, to legitimize the endevour, and
the bonus, well here's the PC twist, it will be returned to the stockholders
as a good faith gesture ( we will be the stockholders) wait, OMG this is
the fannie mae business model, oh well its the thought that counts

Fred,
I thought that sounded way too familiar.
It would need to be a fresh approach so only the tax payers could figure it out and not the DA's in Washington. (and I don't mean District Attorneys)

130 huh i dunno....may have to schedule a labotamy to handle it. i do see an
increase in orders here, my slow recovery has begun, i think getting slightly
busier here at the shop is the only thing keeping me sane. the occasional
gunfire out my door helps too.

Warren,
The only flaw I see in your plan is that I am not from New Orleans. I don't have Mayor Nagin demanding help for Hurricane Ike right now.

Count your blessings. Keep your head down.
GMW.
Went to a local cruise night yesterday. I had to put on my jacket during the ride. I got home about 7:30 PM, and it was 61°F. Brrrrrrr. Its only 51°F now. I guess summer is over.
Hey Fred (FWB) - where are you located?

Good news for DFW is the last track has the storm passing to the east of Dallas as a tropical storm. The weaker side of the storm is what we will see. Shreveport LA is going to get hit hard though.

Joe,
That is good news for you but not so good for the others that will get the main part of the storm. Hope it weakens quite a bit so it won't cause so much damage.

I have a beach house and a 41' sailboat 200 miles down the coast from Galveston.
Looks like it will be just 40-50 mph winds, 200 miles away.
I have a 75 y/o Aunt that lives in Houston, surrounded by tall Pine trees. Not Good.
She was finally convinced to get the heck out of there yesterday afternoon. She is pretty sick and frail so she couldn't make the 300 mile, bumper to bumper, trip to Dallas by herself. That and she has pretty much a zoo that lives with her.
Her housekeeper was convinced to help drive her up here. With her husband & 2 kids & 1 dog.
They are ALL staying with my Dad.

Fred,
Maybe the storm won't do any damage to your beach house. Glad the Aunt finally decided to move away until this is over.

It does look like the bulk of the storm will miss us, but we are still expecting some high winds and possible flooding. I am still worried about the tornadoes kicking up in the wake of the storm. It could be much worse though.
Ron,
It just look like we will be getting the rain you need. I'll send some your way

Fred,
Is the boat tied down well enough for the high winds?

The beach house will be fine with those winds.
I'm glad too that she chaged her mind. She has always been a risk taker and very independant. As just one example, she is a Glider Pilot.
Those folks in and around Freeport/Galveston/Houston and all those little towns sitting on Galveston Bay are going to go through a historic event.
It is really all about the storm surge.
The 100-120 mph winds will be secondary.

That's true.
I am also glad people are leaving and heading elsewhere. This will be one for the record books.
I saw on the news last night that a family lives in a house on stilts, that is actually on the water. Where the ocean is under their home most of the time. They were loading everything into a moving truck.
They news media asked what they would leave behind.
The answer was clear, "Everything we no longer want, because it will be gone when we come back"
